Stage IV's - Was your SSDI approval fast tracked?

Options

We already have a wonderful thread on the workings of SSDI started by the attorney husband of a breast cancer patient. He goes into great detail of the in's and out's of SSDI. He has been extremely helpful. My hope in starting this new thread is to do a status check of/for those of us that have recently applied for SSDI - say since 1/1/2013. Is the system still fast tracking us Stage IV's? Does the Sequester seem to be slowing our approvals down? There have been many past stories of Stage IV's getting quick approvals (within days or a couple of weeks after application). Are many of us seeing this kind of fast tracking now?

I for one, applied 6 weeks ago, still waiting to hear anything. I am in central California. My doc submitted my records weeks ago. When I check my status online, it simply says I am under medical review. Perhaps the caseload here is such that the wait is longer.  What is your experience?

Is your case under compassionate review? Call the state disability determination board and find out who your caseworker is.

Mine took about four weeks to approval last year. I have heard that many many more applicants are seeking whatever benefits they can and that does bog down the system.

Mine took 7 weeks back in the summer of 2011 and I found out when the deposit showed up in my bank account in early October.

I have been waiting 3 months!

I have talked to several people at ss and they say that the decision was made, but they pull random ( don't believe it) applications for a " quality control review" that can take up to 2 months. If you call the 800 number, they will tell you if that is the case with yours.

Are you calling SS or,are you calling the Disability Determination Board in your state? That's where the decision is made and SS knows zilch. Find out who your case manager is and remind them its eligible for compassionate review. I hope you get some better answers.

My understanding is that the state disability board made the decision, but this review is coming from social security , that they pull random applications for a review, so the state has nothing to do with the delay.

That sounds like a fishy delay. Squeaky wheel anyone! Try posting a PM to Steven on the other thread, maybe he'll have a chance to give you some direction. Let him know what state you are in.
