Hello everyone

I'm Triple negative and I have health conditions that make chemo a no go for me. I'd like to know if anyone knows of other systemic treatments besides chemo? Any information would help me out. I'm feeling pretty low right now and I need some reassurance and hopefully some information on IF there is anything else. Thanks.

wow. I'm going to hope the reason there haven't been any replies is due to not enough triples seeing this post yet. Kinda discouraging. I hope in time someone has some info.

Luvin, sometimes weekends get a bit quiet on these boards. As far as I know, chemo and radiation are the only non-surgical treatments for TN. But maybe someone will come along who knows of something. Maybe there is some sort of targeted therapy in a clinical trial?

I believe Stride is right that surgery, chemo and rads are it. I see that you have positive nodes so I see your concern. What has your oncologist said? He/she would be the place to go with this question. It never hurts to get second or even third opinions. Best wishes that you find a solution!

Oh, and yes, the boards are always a bit slow on the weekends!

    Luvinmylife,

As far as I know, there are not proven/approved systemic treatments, but there are LOTS of clinical trials and other research underway for triple negatives. It is a hot area of research because of the lack of targeted treatments. Two weeks ago I saw a woman from the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation (tnbcfoundation.org) give a presentation providing an overview of the current research. You may want to give them a call to find out about trials.

Also you could call MD Anderson in Houston, which has just started a big triple negative research project as part of their "moonshot" initiative. I don't know what stage they're at or whether what they are doing involves current patients.

For a special situation such as not being able to do chemo and being trip,e negative, maybe try one of the big cancer hospitals?

    Luvinmylife,

Forgot about propranolol (usually used as a high blood pressure drug). See http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/79/topic/801971?page=1#post_3471252

I'm not sure whether those without hbp would be able to take it, but since I already have hbp, I do. Also, the study referenced needs confirmation/further study, but this looks promising to me.

We have a member that uses the name "MsBliss" on this board and is also on the Triple Negative Breast Cancer forum (tnbcfoundation.org) which Placid44 noted in her post above.  MsBliss is also triple neg and could not have chemo either.  I am sure she could be a tremendous help to you.  You can send her a "PM" message both on this board and/or the TNBC board and I am sure she will help in any way she can.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Linda
