how do I go about getting signed up with an insurance company to cover the cost of a wig for a cancer patient,

  Have the oncologist write an Rx and see if that does the trick. There are also a lot of organizations that will supply a free one.

  Have you contacted the American Cancer society? They provide an initial free wig and a couple scarves I believe.
