    Blessings- mayofascial release has helped me quite a bit for years! I am a believer!!

    Kam- my BS and Lymphedema therapist both feel that the numbness and stiffness is from compression of my ulnar nerve and neck problems. Keeping my arms straight helps a little. I am not presently taking AI but it could be caused by the Femara I previously took?

    Hope all doing well.....  had nipple recon and just got the tattoo yesterday so have not looked at it yet.  The nurse (did not go to Vinnie or any of the other highly recommended artist, but had it done at the PS's office - I looked at the portfolio and they results looked great) told me it might be itchy and she was right.....It is!

    And yes.... it is always something.

    Fitz. Glad that's done! Another step.

    I took a step too. Not as fun as yours. I just bought my prosthetics. Two removable foobs. One a size 9 for my left hole, and a size 4 LOL, for my right stopped in the middle TE! LOL I can't get it pumped up for a while yet, and I dont know if they will ever even try the left again. Oh, well, it is what it is. I just wish what it is would be cheaper! Over 650.00$ for the mismatched pair. LOL. much love to all.

    Thank goodness for insurance. My part was 100.00. I had to buy bras too, none of my old ones were any good. Pitched them all! Been living in my camis since surgery over a year. They are comfy, but looking pretty shabby. LOL

    Hi Ladies --- Haven't been around for awhile, finally got back into life and have had some energy and been doing all the things that were on hold because of my diagnosis.  I'm back because I'm curious if anyone has had a relapse since their surgery?  I went to my Rad Onc Friday for my final visit and mentioned to her that i've had some discharge and stains in my bra's on the non-cancer breast.  She decided to call my surgeon to see what he thought and when she came back she didn't say if she spoke to him but had made me an appointment for Weds of this week.  I find the whole thing rather quick and strange.  Not sure if I should be nervous or not - I feel like even if it is something we can treat it and it will be fine, I'm just so not wanting to go through all this again this soon after.

    Kayce - I just went through a "scare" on my non-cancer breast and I got the message from atleast 2 doctors that THAT would not be a recurrence if in the clean breast.  Turned out mine was a surgical remnant from reconstruction.  Hopefully your symptoms are something B9 too. xxo

    Hugs to you Kayce.

    Today I got 'cleared' from my PS.  So, five surgeries and PT and what seemed like almost weekly (I know it really wasn't) appointments and today she told me she was done.  I go back in 3 months just so she can check that all is well done and for the first of yearly check-up.  A big sigh... that for now, this is over, except of course for the four more years of Tamox, the twice yearly mammos, the MRI , and the onc appointments.  Cancer sure can be draining.....

    Saw my surgeon today..he wasn't overly concerned but I'm having a ductogram done next Thursday. If it's anything he said we'd just remove it and discuss anything else if needed. Still not sure how I feel last time I was sure it was cancer this time I'm on the fence....

    They have yet another torture device??  What is a "ductogram" Kayce?  Don't jump off the fence yet...your BS sounds rather non-plussed.

    They insert a hollow head needle into the duct and fill it with dye then do a mammogram to see the ducts. It's amazing the torture they can come up with!!!

    Non-plussed means surprised to the point of speechless ness (really it does!), so I hope the BS was not non-plussed!

    Really?  I thought it meant not upset or nonchalant....all these years.  These two following definitions seem in opposition!

    non·plussed

    /nänˈpləst/

    Adjective

    1. (of a person) Surprised and confused so much that they are unsure how to react.
    2. (of a person) Unperturbed.

    perturbed  past participle, past tense of per·turb (Verb)

    Verb

    1. Make (someone) anxious or unsettled.
    2. Subject (a system, moving object, or process) to an influence tending to alter its normal or regular state or path.

    Wouldn't the second definition, "unperturbed," qualify fitz?

    Unperturbed and surprised aren't the same in my book. Interesting.

    I've always used nonplussed to mean confused & speechless. Unperturbed, to mean, not bothered by. Huh. Learn something new every day.

    Moon flower you are correct  - Unperturbed means calm, not bothered.  Perturbed means to make someone or something anxious, bur rarely does one hear that word.  I think I am going to use it more!

    There seems to be an error in the on-line dictionary for the synonym for non-plussed (and in at least two others I found, actually as I was looking for support on this topic) but I stand my my classroom Mirriam-Webster; non-plussed and unperturbed are almost opposite in meaning.

    So fitz - are you still saying i used the word incorrectly?  Funny, I remember this word from a 5th grade IQ test, so I had looked it up back then.

    Hey moonflwr912 - good idea to check in! You've had a busy year with your recon!

    I've finally got around to seeing the surgeon to talk about revising my DIEP for symmetry and size. Paperwork done, but will contact them in December to fine tune the OR date, because I want to do the Disney World half marathon in January and that's non-negotiable! The surgical fellow said could do a little lift on one (yes!) a tuck on the other (hooray!), and trim down my bulgy hips (I said "I'm responsible for the small one, but the bigger one is yours to match" but they'll fix 'em both).

    I'll look forward to taking a little surgical break in Winter term too!

    Gold, yes been a bit intense. Had to go back in to fix a lymph vessel that was leaking 3 weeks after my TE placement. That got fixed then I got another infection but at least I got to keep my TE this time. I probably wont get my squishies till next year though.

    I am happy you will get your revisions. And I will be watching to see you finish the half marathon. Much love

    Nice to see this thread active!

    Good luck to both of you on upcoming procedures.

    A half marathon...wow!! Impressive!

    I am doing pretty well but am having some PT to loosen my pec muscles in the hope of getting rid of the numbness and tingling in my hands. Keeping fingers crossed that it will work...

    Ginger! Sorry you are having the numbness.

    Did anyone heal without problems? Seems like ALL of us had an issue or two! Virtual head shaking here.... LOL

    Moonflwr – I was just wondering how everyone from this thread was doing! Thanks for making this post. So sorry to hear you’ve had complications… I know it’s a long wait, but hey, New Girls for the New Year! Big hugs to you....

    Goldlining – let’s see… surgery in December and a half marathon in January? I hope I have that backwards! Best of luck to you at Disney World, and with your fine-tuning!

    Ginger48 – I think PT ought to be a standard referral for anyone having surgery – sometimes it can make the difference between suffering in silence, and actually finding relief for problems we thought were here to stay. Hope you find relief.

    ~~~
    Yep! Had I not been on this board for months before my BMX, I would have thought “reconstruction” was a piece of cake. NOT!!! I dodged the infections, the necrosis, the botched procedures, etc., but after Exchange, I was totally disappointed in the outcome. Lefty was actually trying to crawl over my left shoulder. The PS said “What is it that you want? I think they look great!” Grrrrr…
    But a fabulous myofascial release therapist (who is also an LE therapist) worked on me for five weeks, and in that time, she got rid of the awful swelling I’d had for five months… swelling the PS said may or may not go away.
    Now, a year later, I do notice the New Girls are a bit droopy, but considering that the Old Girls hung down to my waist, I’m still thrilled. I do feel the implants every day, but as time goes on, my brain adjusts to the “new normal” feeling. It sure isn’t quick, though.
    This weekend will end my 8th week off Anastrozole (generic Arimidex). After a year on the drug, my SEs were so bad I begged my MO for a break. I was becoming severely disabled, and terribly depressed. As of today, the results have been miraculous. I have my life back.
    Now the question is, do I go back on Anastrozole? Try something else? Just stop the AIs completely? Such a hard decision, and even after considering it for 8 weeks, I still don’t have an answer. Will see the MO on Friday afternoon. Guess I’ll know then.
    ~~~

    SO – hope our other December 2011 sisters see this thread and pop in with an update!!! Thinking of you all!!!!
