Finished taxotere 3 wks ago & foot pain just started - related?
I finished chemo 3. 1/2 weeks ago. Taxotere was last . I thought I got through relatively unscathed but now I've got foot and elbow pain. Is this a Taxotere related SE this starting this late after treatment? If so, how long will it last?

omg I thought I was the only person to have this. Taxetore almost killed me putting me in hospital for 2 weeks in Dec with chemo caused pneumonia!!.My last chemo was end of November. Now both my elbows feel like I fell and hit the floor with them and my right foot feels like somebody stomped on the top, and these things never go away. So I would believe all of this is caused by that nasty tax...

Hi Quiltrunner,
I felt like I was hobbled, my feet hurt so bad! When I got out of bed in the morning or the middle of the night, it was the worst... In fact, 2 1/2 years later, I still have that same pain come back on me from time to time.
I complained to my MO during chemo. Her response, "your feet?!"
Feel better soon-

Taxotere does a number on our joints, as well as causing a lot of foot neuropathy. The supplement B6 can help some with the latter, and getting exercise, even if it's difficult at first, also helps.
When I finished chemo (TCx4), I could barely climb a flight of stairs, and I had a weird, extreme pain in my right shin. Both took several months to resolve, but eventually I was walking 5+ miles a day, as were others in my chemo & rads groups here who went through similar things. So hang in there! It will get better, but it just takes more time than anyone ever tells us going into it for our bodies to heal and rebuild. (((Hugs))) Deanna

Thanks ladies. I saw my oncologist Tuesday and she confirmed that it's probably the Taxotere. I'm trying to get back to running, back in the gym as much as I can. Radiation is making me TIRED this week however. I am ready to get over this and move on to reconstruction (again).
Thanks for your words of wisdom.

quiltrunner - Ask your oncologist for Neurontin. It has worked wonders for my sore feet and stiff ankles. The pain didn't hit me until 6 months PFC. I ran a 5K and could hardly walk for a week. My feet felt like I was walking barefoot on rocks. Neurontin has made a world of difference. The only bad thing, it makes me drowsy so I can only take it at night but it seems to work most of the day.

I have an appointment in an hour. I will ask! Thank you much nurseronda!
Now, where do I go to get a response as to why I can't do the tummy flap reconstruction after having a mini-tummy tuck (only removed loose skin, not muscle). I'm having difficulty getting an answer to that question. I got an infection after immediate reconstruction and ended up having both side deconstructed. Now having radiation. I know my options are now limited for reconstruction, but I'd much rather use the tummy flap than the Lat flap! Anyone know where I can go to find out?

quilt - I would talk to the NOLA peeps or Charleston peeps - either the patients who post on this site or the center itself.

let your body rest and focus on repairing itself. 3rd week of radiation made me really tired. it does get better. don't rush your body. walk everyday. eat well
