On the subject of denial. I am not in denial I am usually very careful with my LE. Trouble is I am beligerent and go ahead break the rules and do something stupid.....................................and pay for it.
Will sign off and do lebeds right now to ease my conscience.

I try to eat a banana almost every day and at times, those exercise drinks help if dehydrated. I know I get dehydrated as I take a couple of alergy meds to dry me up....when I get cramps, then I do the nana thing, also tonic water seems to help
-
Tonic water with vodka!
-
Tonic water does have quinine which is probably what helps the cramping.
-
I drink the tonic water mixed with a juice, and not much but between that and the nana...it helps, not perfect but helps
it is not a lot of quinine but some
course gin would help too!
-
Is it the nana that has magnesium that does the trick?
I know tonic water helps.
-
Thanks all. I don't feel like it's a blood clot because it started as a cramp and when I tried to stand up it cramp on up the leg. So I stretched my leg out hoping it would ease off but it cramped more. I have had horrible leg cramps since chemo and if I wear a bra too long I get them in the back and chest wall. If not better tomorrow I will see my Dr. I personally think the compression makes them worst.
-
bananas have lots of potassium and I have been told that is the thing to help cramps, folks at the gym always like them so I do them....till I get sick of bananas
-
Avacadoes have a lot of potassium in them (I have at least 2 a week.). Potatoe skins do also. I have had to take mega doses of potassium since half way through 12 weekly Taxols to keep the level close to normal. Even with taking it, I will sometimes have cramps at night but taking an extra K pill will alleviate the problem within an hour. Low magnesium and/or zinc can also add to the problem but for me, it's only the low potassium. Do need to remember that too much K (potassium) can also cause big problems also so need to be sure 'your' cramping problems are caused by low K and not by other low minerals or an imbalance of them or other health issues.

Looks like I'm in a phase where everything bothers my arm. i was doing so good, six months with no flare-up. Thought I was cured for a moment there.
This really sucks. Grrrr
-
nibbana - I'm sad with you. GRRRRRRR for sure!
Out of nowhere I've started having problems too. I'm thinking it's the weather because nothing else has changed.
I hate it.
-
I have done some light massage but it really needs deep massage.
KittyDont give in to the massage in case of bloot clot ( you dont want those to dislodge
!)
Gma is right- hydrating cannot hurt. Maybe even try a some Mg. at night as well. -
dsgirl
That may well have been me...I do have thoise health issues !
I'll PM and get your address. -
Can doing lebed in the beginning make everything ache?
-
Yes, gma. Really any stretching/ exercise can do that until you are used to it. I trust you are wearing both sleeve and glove while doing it, right ?
-
RE: " exercise drinks "
GREAT for dehydration, but be careful if you are limiting sodium due to LE.

Gma - I overdid the Lebeds the first time and hurt for several days.
-
Gma - I agree with purple, definitely wear your glove and sleeve. And don't do more than the lymphatic opening part for the first several weeks that you do it.
-
Gma, the lebed opening doesn't have to be overstretching and extra pulling etc, You can do it just enough to stretch the skin. It should be done gentle and S L O W, Sleeve/glove please.
-
And keep in mind that you can do it all while sitting, if that helps to ease into it.
-
Yes, I am wearing my gloves and sleeves. but my breast is sooooo swollen again and don't really have anything but sport bras to wear - and water water water.
-
hmmm, arm is achie today and I am blaming the time I spent in the hot tub on Sunday
I had stopped it and this was the first time in a while and first time for the achie arm in some time
geez,weez

No compression cami GMA?
I got a GREAT one at Macys for 9.00 on clearance recently.TAG: Light Barely there Smooth A'Tude ribbed tank.
I also got a spanx on sale but the first was more like a tight blk tank top with scoop neck. I love it. Time to shop clearances , my friend !
-
Thanks purple - I'm kinda big around the middle and can't seem to find anything my size that stays on without rolling... I live in a small town and can't seem to find anything. I have one post - mastectomy cami I have been wearing works pretty good - put it on but no others I really wish I could get some good jovipack lumpectomy pad/swellspots but they are so expensive - it was hard enough getting this cami - but really need the other pads to set me up.
-
Dont give up gma
Keep looking at retail clearances. You may be surprised. TRY THEM ON First. A long one is less likely to roll.
Good Luck !

Had an 'aha' moment and wondering if seeing a chiro to break up scar tissue in a knee could cause a flare in my arm?
Wrote the following on the exercise thread: What do you all think?
I'm seeing a chiropractor who specializes in sports injuries www.activerelease.com/what_pat...
He came highly recommended from a collegue of mine who runs marathons. Three weeks ago while on the treadmill I had excruciating pains shoot down the left side of my knee. I tried to run through it and couldn't. I finished up 20 minutes on the elliptical. And felt OK the next day but knew something was wrong.
I've been seeing this guy for a couple of weeks now. It's been painful but slowly getting better and today he laid into me ... deep hip, back and yikes ... I wasn't going to the gym today but felt like I needed to stretch and do at least a little something. Did a lot of stretching and about 10 minutes on the elliptical. He told me I could do anything except run right now.
Anyway .... I didn't think about it until today (duh??) ... could him breaking up scar tissue in my left knee cause me to flare in my arms?
-
Dawn, my first impression is most definitely, especially with him working on your back.
-
Purple - we don't have any stores I can try on that type of stuff- WE are very RURAL here - Walmart, k-mart, bimart... that's it LOL - I won't go to walmart.
-
Dawne, I'm no expert, so I'm guessing here. I think Marple is onto something when she mentions the back work as the likely culprit. Secondary LE (i.e. after surgery or some other body trauma) is long understod to stay within its own quadrant of the body, so arm LE is not likely to be affected by injury or treatement to the knee. But if the chiro is working your back aggressively, including above the waist on your LE side, then it certainly is possible that the LE flare is a direct result of that chiro treatment. Massage is a no-no for us, because to get to the muscles, the massage strokes of necessity are pressing very hard into our delicate lymph vessels that are just below the skin, and too much pressure can shut them down, at least temporarily. So if you chiro is doing more than spinal manipulation--if he's working the muscles--that could be the problem.
There has been some research in the past few years suggesting that LE is a systemic condition, meaning that it does not necessarily stay put within one quadrant as long thought. Using sophisticated imaging, one research group discovered lymphatic changes in the unaffected arm of research subjects who had LE in only one arm, although as I recall, there were no symptoms we would associate with LE in that other arm. If that particular study's results are generally true (and we don't get that kind of imaging to know, do we?), then perhaps the knee/leg injury and related treatment to the leg is causing you some LE trouble. But the more obvious answer is what Marple said--the back work. I hope you'll have a chat with the chiro to see if he knows anything about LE, and ask him to stay out of your LE quadrant, and see if the LE flare subsides and does not repeat.
Don't we just love the trial-and-error aspect of LE????

Yesterday was the first day he got anywhere near my back and then it was only stretching, twisting. He does know about the LE.
Hmmm. Thanks for comments.
