Jogging with expanders in?
Does anyone go jogging with expanders in? I am 8 weeks from surgery and have been power walking for the past few weeks. I am currently going through chemo, but since I am receiving dose dense chemo, I feel pretty good the week that I don't have treatment. I feel as though I have the energy to jog, but don't know if it is safe. I plan to call my plastic surgeon this week, but wanted to see if others jog with their expanders in and if it feels comfortable.

It is definitely a different feeling jogging with expanders. When I first started running with them my chest would immediately tighten up. I also felt like my arm movement while running was different, but tgat was probably because i gad the LD flap. That feeling gradually got better over time but still felt different. I now have my perm implants and it feels better running with them than the expanders.

I am not a jogger per say but I did play tennis matches with my expanders in place so I did do some running on the court.I wore a sports bra so everything more or less stayed in place. I never asked my PS if I could or couldn't. I just did because I felt I could.Ask your doc if he/ she has any objections.

I worked out with them in - did aerobics and the elliptical. I felt tight in the chest when I jogged so I did not do that much. I was never told I could not jog with them in. I have implants now and no issues with running at all!

I have had my TE's for 4 weeks now and my PS cleared me to run last week. I am taking it slow and keeping my heart rate down. I do notice some spasming of my pecs and my radiated side seems to look a bit bruised after running or riding my bike, but that is gone the next morning. I plan to ask about it at my fill on Wednesday.
I do wear a compression type sports bra but my PS said that was optional. I don't feel that my form has suffered, but my TE's are just 250cc and only at 175 right now.
I have been a runner for years and have learned that if I walk post-surgery, I generally can be back running pretty well within a few weeks once I get the all clear after surgery. -
mdg: What type of aerobics do u do? Would love to do aerobics as well but don't want to do any movements that will throw off or harm my expanders. Also, does anyone lift with light weights? I have noticed that my arms have become flabby since the surgery.

Same here! I hate my old lady arm flabbies! Grrrr!

I was cleared to run 19 days post surgery and a month after I was able to work out and do more intense workouts. After that I would say a month and half I started doing some bodyweight workouts for my arms and upper body. At first it felt kind of tight in the chest and that scared me a little but when I got used to it I didnt feel anything, after each filling though I would notice the difference.
Running was weird at first but I got used to it.

hiya,
I am just over 6 weeks post bilateral mastectomy with TEs and I went for my first treadmill run this morning. I wore a sports bra but nothing seemed to move anyway lol. It is now a few hours later and I feel tighter than usual in the chest area with a bit of aching and am hoping I haven't over done it too soon. I should know by tomorrow morning if it was worth it or not. I didn't expressly ask if and when I could return to running as I was afraid of the answer. Were any of you told anything specific?
The rest of me is happy I did some running though!
