I have been diagnosed as having a tubular fibroid adenoma. Has anyone here been diagnosed with this? I will go back to my surgeon tomorrow to find out more but from what I have been gathering online is that it is a very rare condition. My mammo.and ultrasound were all pointing at cancer, Birads 5. I know this now is not malignant, but I don't know just how "rare" this is.

Shelly, a fibroadenoma is usually a benign growth.  Tubular breast cancer is a fairly rare subtype of invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC).  I'm not a doctor, but it does sound like what you have -- assuming it's a type of fibroadenoma -- is not malignant.     Deanna

    Hi Shelley

I too was a Birads 5 and the biopsy came back as a tubular adenoma, they are quite rare.  I had all the biopsies redone and it still came back the same.

Due to being a Birads 5 I had to have a lumpectomy as they have to get the imaging and the biopsy results to concord.

When I had the final pathology it also picked up 9mm of DCIS but it was just called an "incidental finding".  My mass was 100% benign tubular adenoma.

My colon polyps were tubular adenomas and they are considered benign.
