AMERICAN IDOL...Season 12 & The Voice...Season 4

Karen.....We heard it right next week on AI...........
Starting next Tuesday, March 5th at 8PM the Top 20 will be split again by sexes with the first ten singers, either girls or the guys, performing live on the American Idol stage. Then the following night, Wednesday, the other group, again either the girls or the guys, will perform for your votes.
On Thursday night, after two back-to-back nights of two-hour episodes, we’ll get a 90-minute results show where half of all the singers will be cut and sent home. The American Idol 2013 singers who survive will form our Top 10. From there we’ll be down to weekly performances and single eliminations.
The season will press on until we arrive at an early finale week on May 15th & 16th when the last two singers perform and then the American Idol 2013 winner is revealed.

Ok I still think Idol stinks this year for more than one reason. I feel like the judges have been terrible and have been given an agenda by the producers... they certainly seem to have gotten rid of most of the very handsome guys (maybe with the exception of Josh) and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. They have narrowed the field down in the women to whom they want to win (I think) throwing in some really bad ones along the way, which makes it easier to eliminate and keep those that "they" think are top contenders.
AI is definitely seeming a little "rigged" this year. I realize that they can't control the final outcome, but the producers and judges are sure trying to influence it before it ever gets to America's vote this year so it seems what with the top 20 they have chosen for us to vote from. Really think about it and all the really great singers that were sent home and the really not so good ones they kept and some of them were just plain BAD!
I hope they improve but right now the only stand outs that I like are Janelle, Kree, Angela (who I think Idol wants to win and at this point win or lose she is a done deal with a contract if she appeals to most of America), Charlie and Josh. But Charlie is different and I don't think most of middle America will go for him. I could be wrong. I also think the cute, short 18 yr old Asian guy (what is his name?) can sing his booty off. Like him too. That's about it.
-
It seems like they skew it to singers with some quirky backstory. Maybe I am wrong about that, as just about everybody has a "story" of some kind. I know two kids who tried out in the 2010 season. At the pre-screening, the cute girl who was a state pageant queen got a different color pass than regular guy did. (The guy did not make it past pre-screening. The girl did get to sing for the judge panel at a later date, but wasn't selected and her singing didn't make it onto t.v. She was in a 3 second televised snipet with Steven Tyler.)
Thru' the editing, they can make a contestant more "likeable" and that does influence the voting. Given that several can sing quite well, sometimes it is the sheer likeability that gets the extra votes. I can't really complain...I have never voted. Not like you hardcore fans.
-
mimi - I think the producers DO control the outcome of the voting.
In fact, a few years ago, DH read some fine print somewhere about the producers having the final say on the winner.
Of course, if that were public knowledge, who would watch and vote, right?
-
Blessings I think I remember someone else saying they read or heard that last year. I truly believe that after what I have witnessed this year. They have made it blatantly evident. You would have at least thought they would try and hide it to some degree. But if they think they are fooling us then they are wrong.

Angie - wow, I'm sending too many through, great on the piano, beautiful vocals. Sheila, maybe because they are not having those precious "moments" we are used to hearing?
