Hot flashes

Ladies

Did anybody have hot flashes after chemo? I have finished chemo about a month ago and in the last few days I have been having hot flashes on and off. They last a couple of seconds and then pass. I might get 3 or 4 in the day. I'm really hoping they aren't the first signs of menopause. I'm only 33 and would so love to have another baby in time with Gods help. Anybody have these symptoms and then get their period or have a baby after tx?

Mum- Chemo puts you into temporary or permanent menopause (causing the flashes). I am 2.5 years from my last chemo and still have awful hot flashes and night sweats, but I am also 47 years old. Give it a few more months then ask your doctor about testing (just a blood test) to see if you are in permanent menopause. Given your age, I would imagine your period will return!

I was 34 when I completed chemo and I had hot flashes for a couple of months after that.  I think they were at their worst around the time I had my BMX/Recon surgery about 6 weeks PFC.  I finished chemo in February 2011 and my periods came back in May 2011 and have been fairly regular since that time.  The hot flashes stopped in early April.  Hopefully, you'll have a similar experience!  Hang in there....

Don't worry, Mum - the odds are in your favor.  You've had a ton of stuff going on between the baby and treatment, but I think you'll end up back to normal again, too.  Mine was monthly for the first few months, then skipped a month and then came every 3 weeks for a few months.  I laughed when I realized I was starting to get annoyed with it - I realized that I was truly back to my old self again and I embraced it!

We froze embryos prior to my chemo treatments as we'd been trying for our first when I was diagnosed.  We're actually in the process of using them now.  Fingers are crossed for a good outcome.  I'm looking forward to getting back to where we were before this whole mess began.
