So...whats for dinner?

Eric - thanks, that is good to know. We haven't had the greatest luck with our last couple of trips. I'm hoping for warm sunny skies with not too much of a breeze!
-
Auntie Happy Anniversary Sounds like your travels are going well and the meals out.
Michelle Happy travels to you as well...LOVE Arizona Wish they had a magic pill to get those counts and your energy back up.
Susan That is a lot of duck. the guy up the road used to raise ducks and sell them to NYC restaurants. His yard was a sea of white ducks. No longer does this as he is in jail for murdering his wife and son....yup! right in our little neighborhood where we dont lock doors. Sad
Laurie Kids say the funniest things...your son was very creative. I would buy the clay at one of those "unusual" toy stores, I think it came with a book also and yes you can bake the metal things right in them. You bake at a very low temp. another favorite was the book of paper airplanes...needed some assist to punch out and form the paper airplanes ( directions included) and the kids would play forever with them perfecting the folds to get the best flight. Funny, as my son is now a design engineer.
-
Bobo- I would be up for a playdate anytime!!
Carrie- OMG! The guy killed his wife and son? That is sad and frightening! I don't think my littlest is ready for paper airplanes. But you are giving me the oomph I need to do the salt clay.
Bedo= Thanks for posting the link!
Michelle- I hope your counts come back so you can enjoy your trip. Can you do a blood transfusion? My mother always felt so much better after she had one. I hope you have a wonderful trip and enjoy the sunshine!
Susan- Happy anniversary! Have fun celebrating.
I have nothing planned for dinner. I am honestly not hungry so I can't even think of food. I had a bunch of errands and things to get done today and while I was out and about I was starving so I got a whopper from Burger King. augh. No fries, no soda, just the burger and a bottle of H2O. I am still full and bloated which proves why I don't do that often. I am sure we will come up with something.
-
I have absolutely no ideas for dinner either. There is always something for the kids. But I want something fresh and delicious. Wish I had watermelon! Someone mentioned that, and now I want it.
-
Nancy, I can't believe you're in Abita Springs. That's no more than a 20 to 30 min. drive from my house. Where do you stay there? The favorite beer must be from the Abita brewery. DH likes their dark beer. If you're going to be there a few days, maybe we can get together. Happy anniversary!i
Bobo, dinner tonight will be warmed-up stuffed peppers and warmed up soup from last night and a yummy chopped salad like last night's salad. This meal will be consumed after dh and I have either a vodka martini or a bourbon old-fashioned. I am looking forward to my cocktail.
I had a wonderful day today. I played golf and it was beautiful weather. I am not a person who can bear being cooped up inside day after day.
-
Oh thank you Carole! It seems I am addicted.

Nothing sounds good to me right now except your dinners! Chopped salad sounds good. Someone else's salad is always better thank your own, isn't it? I would also like a dark beer.
-
Carol- I have not had a vodka martini in ages. love them- extra dirty of course

-
Nancy, Happy Anniversary!
I actually weighted the duck today, and it is actually only 6 lbs. I apologize for my overestimation. It is, however, still a lot of cooked duck. This afternoon I made the veggie component of a ragu, and I have now thrown in about 5 lbs of the duck and will let it simmer for 30 minutes. One portion will be left out for the husband and the rest I will freeze. Tonight, I am taking the remaining pound of duck and making a hash for dinner. Will serve with a poached egg on top.
Tomorrow, I leave for Portland, OR.... so Mr. 02143 will be on his own. It will be eating out of the pots and bachelor food all week, I expect. Will be home on Wednsday.

I had to make this smaller.
My nephew Richie just graduated from the USMC.

-
Michelle, you can request a wheelchair or those people that drive around like a golf cart when you book the flight, it should be on the web site, we did for DH when we traveled to England.
-
Auntie congratualation on your anniversary!
Michelle, nice looking man.
Susan have fun on your trip!
Bobo Can you be hypnotized before the MRI? I did that once for stage fright and it worked really well.
You are as bad a cook as I am. It's genetic. I used to be embarrassed to post my recipes....ie "I put bananas and dried cranberries in the Cherrios today"..., but no more!
Ps why is Lizzy, my daughter, and your neice, suddenly being so nice, bringing me bagels and coffee in the morning and wanting to watch nature shows before we go to work. What's up? Any ideas? She actually said, can we make this a ritual? She actually buys them :O
-
That is suspicious. She must want to borrow the car. I have never trusted Lizzie since I found a cigarette hole in my cashmere twin set the weekend she came to stay.
I was once a very good cook. But now I have two jobs and plus nothing sounds good to me. And plus I am worried.
Hypnosis is not likely. Once I was pretty holistic. And I still have some residual holistic elements. But I just put blue streaks in my hair today. Granted, the color was vegan -- no animal testing. But better living through chemicals may be my motto for the MRI. I have cleared my schedule.
Stage fright? Am playwright. Thanks so much for appearing in all my early plays! You have obviously made me what I am today.
-
Try 2 percocets and beer and cold pizza before the MRI. Or, ...maybe not.
-
I am a lightweight -- in fact, I've just consumed an entire beer and I could be drunk right now.
-
Going to clean up this mess all:O and watch nature shows and dream of Ecuadorian food. I have to work on a presentation this week end Uhgg. See you all Monday
Blue hair is a good thing.
-
Carole, we are actually staying in Covington. We planned to bike on the trace tomorrow from abita springs but it's supposed to be sort of chilly, so I don't know. For sure we will tour the brewery and probably have lunch at the pub. I would LOVE to get together but we are leaving Sunday morning as we have reservations in Gulfport. This was kind of a spontaneous short visit because we were heading this direction anyway.
Thanks everyone for the anniversary wishes. I always say, it takes a mighty good husband to be better than none! -
bedo and bobo, could we be quads? I could be nono, the chubby sister. I used to be vegetarian, but it was too much trouble. Now I'm omnivorous.
-
Nancy- Sorry I screwed up my post- Happy Anniversary!
-
Happy anniversary Nancy!!!
Eric -
Deborye,
Congrats to your nephew Richie! What a handsome young man and new Marine!
Debbie,
I am so happy that you posted! I know things are just so hard for you right now but I really liked Susan's response... Sometimes a burden carried by many, and not by you alone, can make it more bareable... Please know that you are in my thoughts each and every day!
While I wish that your Dad could have had his surgery it sounds like both of you had some strong reservations about it....
Hugs, love and comfort coming your way... from me to you....
Nancy,
Happy Anniversary!!!! Hope you are enjoying your trip! -
Just lost a long post...arggghhhh!! Too tired and sick to rewrite it...more tomorrow...have enjoyed reading all of your posts! Wish they would ASK before deleting unfinished posts!!! How about it mods??
Nite all..... -
debbie, thinking of you every day.
-
Same for me Debbie.
Nancy: Happy Anniversary! Your maxim regarding husbands has the ring of truth. As far as I'm concerned we could be quads. Dodo eats anything... but you may have to get some blue streaks in your hair, like me.

Dinner last night: bowl of org greens sauteed with rice noodles. Almond dressing on top.

DEBBIE♥

I hope I'm better than none! :-)
Eric -
Eric, I think you're in the "mighty good" category lol
-
Bobo, I only have gray streaks. I guess I'll stay an only child. I forgot to say I'd have to be the old chubby sister. I don't think I could keep up with the three of you ;-)
Lacey, that has happened to me too many frustrating times. -
I am not sure Eric, I have not yet sampled your cooking -- please provide sample menu

Hi, Joyce. Good to hear from you. I'm watching the PGA event on tv as I type. Lee Westwood just hit a golf ball into the water!
DH is out playing golf today. It has gotten colder and colder since this morning so he's probably freezing his butt off. I'm sitting here with the fireplace lit. We're supposed to get down to freezing tonight. I figure this is our last "cold spell," but I've been wrong before.
Tonight's dinner will be ribeye steak, boiled potatoes and salad. We'll cook the ribeye using the sear and roast method. One of my favorite menus because it not only tastes great but is easy.
Nancy, my sincere apologies for today's raw weather. This is about as wintry as it gets during the day. I hope you win some money at a casino on the Gulf coast. My favorite casino is Beau Rivage in Biloxi, the town next door to Gulfport.
Susan, I've never eaten duck. I watched Martha Stewart cooking duck breasts on one of her cooking classes. She weighted the breasts down with a brick while they cooked so they would stay flat. I seem to remember that the type of duck was muscovy, which are on the ugly side. Not pretty like mallards. Hope you enjoy your trip to Oregon.
