I'm leaking!!!!!

I was grooming one of the dogs, the comb slipped, I stabbed my arm. It bled a little, I forgot about it. Now the skin around the tiny hole is leaking clear fluid.



PT is going to wrap it again tomorrow will a band aid be enough, should I layer gauze over it, go see my PCP?

    Spooky, You need to watch your stab carefully. Clean it, put anitbiotic creme and bandaid on it. If you get red/swollen arm or fever/flulike go to the hospital ASAP emergency. Say you have Lymphedema which means you can get cellulitis really easy. Emphasize the word CELLULITUS otherwise they may ignore you. Go to stepup-speakout.org and read about it.  When we cut or bugbite/burn or injury our arms we have to watch for infection. It can spread like fire. So just be on the outlook. Don't allow them to bp or needle your LE arm. IF you end up in emerg then write in sharpie pen, no BP/needles in this arm. Write it big.

    Keep us posted. The fluid sounds like lymph fluid but I am no expert on this. I wish our expert girls could weigh in on your experience. Hopeully they will come on the threads.

    Lymph fluid can leak from wounds. Remember when we were kids and fell off our bikes and skinned whole swatches of our knees, so it took off a layer of skin near the surface? There's always that clear or yellowish fluid along with a bit of blood, y'know? Keep your wound and the area around it clean and use an antibiotic cream on it. If it's wrapped you'll still need to stay aware of it tomorrow and be alert to signs of infection.

    I put a bandage on it to keep Spookie away from it. It stopped leaking during the nite. Was dry.



    LE guy put another on it this AM before session, said to watch it.



    As of 11 am it looked ok

    Hey, hey, Spookiesmom!Smile Sounds good so far!

    The doctor to handle this would be the one you can access the quickest, the one you think is most likely to listen to you, and/or the one who gave you the referral for LE treatment. For me that would have been my mo (until he retired last yearFrown), but that differs from team to team. Good thing we have more than one...!
