Florbo, happy to hear surgery went well! You and Mariposa rest and heal and look after yourselves.

Patricia, I will think of you tomorrow as you FINISH CHEMO!

DH is off skiing with his friends and we had almost 2' snow in the last 24 hours. I feel so fed up with winter and everything. I'm seeing my BS for 6 month follow up tomorrow. Then in a few weeks its mammogram :-/ I'm suddenly terrified! Just the thought of going back to the breast clinic makes me feel sick...

I ran into the nurse practioner from the breast surgeon's office after my infusion this week, and she said "where have you been?  You need to come see us for follow up!"  I was surprised and said, "why would I see the breast surgeon when I no longer have breasts??"  She explained that they check the area around the breasts and other things.  Between seeing the MO, PS, primary care drs and all the other misc. specialists for problems that have arisen during chemo it never occured to me to follow up with the breast surgeon!!

I hope everyone recovers quickly from their surgeries this week.  Congrats to all those finishing chemo!  We made it  Laughing

Mariposa I am sending healing prayers your way.

To all those finishing chemo ..woohoo you did it!

To all those heading into surgery you are almost done, you can do this!

JoJo and Neta love the hair. I checked out the pixie cut that Charlize Theron has and that is the look I want for summer! Hope I have enough hair by May. I did leave the hat at home yesterday when I went to town. I guess I can say at 15 weeks pfc I am ready to face the world just the way I am. If people think my hair is too short, too bad, it feels great!

    Happy weekend everyone!

    Way to go Patricia!

Bearcub, you will rock the Charlize Theron pixie cut!

I decided to stop feeling self consious about my hair. Instead of worrying about people staring I thought I'd give people something to stare at! I look like this, with supershort hair, because I have made it through something most people can't even imagine. I am strong, I am brave and I'm proud of myself. I'm a survivor and I will NOT feel embarrased about it! I'd rather have some fun with it and own it. So now my hair is crazy red!

Jojo, I just coloured it myself at home. It was fine. I have heard you can get funny results after chemo though.

    Hi ladies

This recovery thing has been rough:-( I am so sore and nauseous. Glad I have my recliner. They released me from the hospital yesterday. Cried when I saw my wrinkly bruised up foobs - but they were able to save my nipples and had good blood flow. They hid the scars under my foobs-so all the surgeons were quite pleased. I am sure it will.look better with time. How long did it take you all to stop aching???

Patricia- congratulations on finishing!! You are a rock star

    Florbo- glad you are recuperating

Okay- typing on.my kindle is irritating me.

I am going back to bed

    Yeah Patricia, we did it.

Last Taxol on the 20th.  Left sunny Florida immediately to go to  hometown in Tennessee.  Snowing today, cold gray miserable weather, but lunch with 6 high school friends.  Us 75-76 girls look pretty good.  That's years--not dates.  Supper this evening with cousin and two survivors--one 10 years, and the other I didn't get a chance to ask how long.  Both doing great.  The one--years ago, but I don't know exactly how long said that her only regret was that she didn't have reconstruction.  The three were in their 80s.  I shared my Jeanne Robinson video (see youtube for samples of her humor.)  I watched it at least three times during chemo--gift from daughter-in-law for 75th birthday.  But it was fun sharing it again with them who really laughed and laughed.  Great day and I am really beginning to recover from the chemo.

You surgery patients are so very brave.  Prayers and quick recovery to all.

Mariposa....to be honest you start to feel okay about a week out but then fills start and they dont feel good.... It makes me sore all.over again. Not to scare you but for me its been since the 13th and im still sore but I would take this over chemo any day! Hugs....

Cindi, so glad its over for you and you are feeling better.

Mariposa, stay strong! It will get better each day.

    Florbo, how are you feeling?

Neta, your words were so uplifting. I don't know if I have ever truly accepted I have cancer. I looked at myself after rads the other day and still thought "how can this be happening to me". But, like you am so proud of how far I have come. No looking back, only forward.

    Patricia! WOOO!

Mariposa, congrats on getting out of the hospital and that they saved your nipples. I hope you heal up swiftly and with little discomfort.

I love Neta's hair too. I have been hesitating to use the bottle of henna I have but that looks so good it gives me courage.

    Mariposa,

Glad to hear they saved your nipples and that you are home recuperating.  Remember to take the pain meds at home also, it will make the recovery so much more tolerable.  Just keep in mind that percoset can be very constipating.  If you take anti-constipating meds, it shouldn't be a problem.

    Good luck!

    Hello Ladies!

I am thinking of you all as you continue your journey each and every day.  Prayers to those having surgery & still recovering!!

I haven't been on since last weekend.  The number of hours I have to work during the week is taking it's toll on me.  I'm trying to keep it together.  I rested a lot today - watched a movie and will watch another one in just a little while.  I did not sleep too well last night.  I had my last 'fill' at the PS on Tuesday.  I took a valium about 1 hour afterwards.  It looks like I'm going to have my exchange surgery on April 4 - first thing in the morning.  I can't wait!  These expanders are sooooooooo uncomfortable for me!  They will be removing the port at the same time.  Yeah!!  For some reason, it has been hurting me lately.

    Neta - What a cute picture  : )

Mariposa - Still saying lots of prayers ... sending big hugs ... best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Patricia - Congrats on your last treatment!  WoooooWhoooo!

Florbo - I hope you are feeling better.  So glad they figured out your allergies.  Let your body heal now.

Cindi - Great to hear from you.  Congrats on finishing your last Taxol.  Yippppeeeeeee! : )))  I hope you enjoyed your time in TN.

Amy - I hope you are doing well.

Toastie - So sorry to learn about the problems you have been having with the seroma.  When is your swap supposed to be?

Forever - Glad your cold is finally clearing up.  Ladies in my office are sick and I'm trying to stay away.  My surger isn't for another month, but I don't want to deal with yet another thing!

Patricia...I can't being up the picture! :(. I was able to get your other one.

Neta. I feel the same way. I am strong! I'm more outspoken. I laugh at the little things. I'm enjoying my DH more! I feel I have been given a second chance and I am going to live it the best I can! And it is not going to comeback and get me. I won't allow it! It does seem so surreal what we have been through and still are going through. The best part is developing these friendships on line. Who would have thought?

However, my hair is not quite long enough to be colored. But I am so ready to go wigless. I showed the office girls my head on Friday. They were amazed at how fast it has grown. It's just too cold yet not to have anything on. I don't know how bald men do it.

Mariposa...How are you????? It took me two weeks to feel much better. I was back at work at three weeks and did fine. I have more energy now than I did during chemo. I don't need my daily naps plus I'm walking 40 min every day. That is one thing my PS said to do, is walk as soon as you can. My sisters had me walking every day after surgery, just around the house. I wanted to hit them but they knew how important it is to get the oxygen flowing into your lungs. Heal faster! Thinking of you!!!

Hello everyone!  Mariposa - hope you are feeling better!  Cindi - your reunion sounds fun!  Neta - your pic is so cute!  Patricia - woot woot!  You are done with chemo!

I have my last chemo this Wednesday and am so excited to get it over with.  This is the 2nd FEC of the two that my doctor tacked on to try to get more of the tumor out.  I have to say, as rough as it has been with the big dip in WBC and getting some kind of lingering cold, and feeling kinda ragged the last three weeks, my breast softened up a lot after the first FEC.  It looks and feels like my "good" breast.  I hope that second FEC will get whatever is left.

Boy, it's been a really long road with this chemo stuff.  I feel like having gone through this I can face anything.

How are the diets going?  I've worked fresh fruits and whole grain bread into my diet, cut way down on dairy and beef.  Due to getting sick, stomach bug or something last week, I lost 4 pounds.  I'm going to use that as a springboard to get going on my weight loss.
