Any abuse survivors here?
Deleted, too embarassed/ashamed...

With all the women who get BC, there are a large number of abuse survivors, there have to be.
The shame belongs to the abuser not the survivor.

Peggy is right. This many women I'm sure some (ahem) can relate to you and your abusive past. I was never physically abused but I was abused emotionaly from the age of 4. It's hard to live with those skeletons...I learned at an unfortunately young age, that being a pretty polite southern belle was the key to scoring a good husband... Because you know that's all us silly girls want right? Well I did and admittedly still do play by those games... I did get the husband lol but thankfully he knows the real me. I still struggle with family though. I was still accepting rude comments from my grandmother regarding my weight, I'm not fat nor have I ever been but she has always tried to convince me otherwise. Ok sorry... Didnt mean to go off but if you ever need to talk please know this is a wonderful sounding board. You are more than welcome to pm me as well. I wish you the best. Take care!

Dear indenial
I was abused as a toddler and have no memory of it, and the abuser was never identified although everyone knew who did it...my mother's boyfriend!
My mother was abused by her second husband (not my father). She was diagnosed with leukemia. One day he was threatening her and I stepped in. In an attempt to punch me, she shielded me and took a punch to the head. That was the final straw. She realized that not only was she in danger, but now he was going to start abusing her child as well. They had a daughter together as well. It's odd how a woman will allow a man to hit her, but when her childrens lives are at stake the veil is lifted.
Your inner voice if muffled by the sense of fear and love. Everything is confussed inside of you and around you, I get it now. I can only tell you what you already know....it is not going to change, it is not going to get better. You have to reach a place in yourself that has finally realized your self worth and know that this is not love. If someone truly loves you, they would never do anything to hurt you. You know this!!! Deep down inside you know the answers to questions you are looking to have answered. Everything you are looking for is within you my dear.
My mother died from leukemia 2 years after that incident. I am grateful it was to cancer and not that man because I wouldn't be able to share this experience with you, I would be in jail or dead from trying to rid the world of garbage.

P.S. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope you find the strength to talk about what you are experiencing. If you find the board to much, perhaps you can find someone on it who you may be willing to confide in on a more intimate level in a private message. I think everyone here is nonjudgemental and willing to offer whatever advice and listening ear you need.
