Green Coffee Bean extract....
Has anyone used pure green coffee bean extract for metabolic syndrome? There is a lot of talk about metformin trials in lowering blood sugar levels. I'm wondering if the green coffee bean extract would do the same thing? Dr Oz had a program about it and it spiked my curiosity.

I know people that have lost weight on it. My concern is the cholergenic acid in the extract. That could potentially cause heart problems. You don't hear much about that.

my dad is a boarder line diabetic he has just started using green coffee bean extract 400mg 3 times per day to lower his blood sugar so far so good has dropped his levels into normal range without diet change.

I just started taking it today. It will be interesting to see how it works.

The coffee for coffee enemas is "green coffee". It is the best way to take this and you get the added benefit of detoxing the liver. Especially important if you choose to take medications. I have seen people whose liver function was going out of range and who were told to do 4 or 5 coffee enemas each day over the weekend and their levels were corrected.

WOM,
I had been ordering the green coffee from Canada but switched to organic roast on the advice of one of the docs a couple of years ago. That was before the news about green coffee broke. I'll be switching back. My mail carrier always wants to know why I order coffee all the way from Canada. He can tell it's coffee since the smell of 5 pounds of coffee wafts around his truck. I don't have the heart to tell him!

Too fuuny. I make my ahead and put in a mason jar. My friend thinks I drink it and asked for a taste. I felt so bad I tasted it first since I couldn't tell her what it was for..lol

Well, I have been taking the green coffee bean extract for 2 months. I was skeptical but I have to tell you my blood work actually proves it works. My overall cholesteral dropped 40 pts from 189 to 143. Bad cholesteral dropped 20 pts. Good cholesteral stayed the same. I was hoping the glucose level would have dropped but it stayed at 90. While the much touted weight loss has not happened I will continue taking it.

I'm interested in taking this because of the link that blood sugar seems to have with cancer recurrence. Does anybody have a particular brand they recommend? I'm in Canada and I''ll probably order it online, unless our local health food store carries it.

This is what I take...http://www.greencoffeeultra.com/why_green_coffee_ultra.html My blood work didnt reflect a decrease in my glucose level. I only have to take it twice a day. The stuff they carried at the health food stores near me carried brands that had 1/2 as much extract in it.

I am interested on trying green coffee extract. This Doctor Oz seems to be saying good things about it in his study. The case study done by him here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0mqeq6EeJ8 seems to be pretty convincing. I may give it a try based on the results some of those women have seen in that video.

I am watching the Dr. Oz show on this again today and he is doing a follow up on some of his initial reporting on this last year. They did a study of a group using it for a couple weeks and some of the audience used a placebo, with no other apparent changes in diet or lifestyle. Seems like the green coffee group lost anywhere from 3-4 pounds in 2 weeks vs. the other group that lost 0-1 lbs on average.
I had bought some last year to give it a try, and did see some weight loss last summer, but then had the bc diagnosis, so that all went on hold. The other day I was at Sam's Club and saw they were selling it there, and it reminded me that this might be helpful to my weight loss process I need to do to get to a healthier weight to keep the reoccurrence risk down.
Been doing some research to see what contradictions and medication concerns to be aware of. The only thing I see that may be something to consider is that if you are leaning towards osteopororis, which those of us on the AIs need to be concerned about, it around caffeine and the flushing of excess CA and Vitamin D through the urine. These seems to be a more general warning around excess caffiene through all products, not just green coffee extract. I am taking CA suppliments and higher doses of Vitamin D due to deficiency (I am slightly osteopenic), but think I am going to go back to trying this again and see if it helps.
I am going to add this link to my favorites in the event anyone else here is using this to help improve their weight in order to improve their overall health and reduce risk of reoccurrence.
