Mariposa.. You are right on my heels sister and before you know it you will be feeling better and getting fills! I will be thinking of you all day tomorrow sending you good vibes. I said a prayer for you and your family and asked that you be surrounded by your guardian angles to protect you... You got this! Hugs, much love and lots of support...
-
mariposa, I will be thinking of you all day tomorrow!
-
Thanks everyone so much for all of your well wishes. I am so glad I have this support community. It means the world to me to know you are all rooting for me! And it also helps to know that so many of you have already been where I am and not only survived, but are doing quite well:-)
I won the battle with the insurance company today. They are jerks. The paperwork said that the surgery wasn't deemed medically necessary. I only wish. Oh well.
My surgery time was moved from 5:45 check in time to 9:am check in time... 7:30am surgery to 11am surgery. I am tired of always being flexible... but I guess that is what I am needing to learn how to be.
Okay. I am trying to finish some art before I go to bed, plus I still have lots of last minute things to take care of. I probably won't go to bed tonight. I don't feel the least bit sleepy.... just hyper anxious!
Thanks for all of your prayers and good thoughts! I will take as many as I can get:-)
-
Sending prayers for you mariposa!!!!!....

Thanks Patricia.
I am up late writing a goodbye letter to my boobs. Kind of cathartic.

Patricia - my breast often hurts.
Neta and jojo - wow! so much hair! I just ordered a couple more beaubeau's since it seems my baldness is going to be a reality for quite a while.
-

-
Mariposa you got this girl . Prayers of speedy recovery
-
Jojo we are on the same rads schedule . I noticed today that my skin is getting darker and I was so tired and anxious. Have you been feeling that ? My color bone and neck feel burnt today. I can't wait for this to be over
-
Yes Cherioo, with yesterday and today's treatments I see changes. More tired this week too, the past two weeks felt pretty normal. My collarbone feels burnt and has lots of spider looking veins showing. All my hair follicles on my chest/breast look like red dots. I still sometimes during treatment feel like I am going to sit up and say "Stop, I am running away"!
-
I start rads Monday. Now you're getting me scared. Just want it to be over. Hugs!
Becki -
Jojo I am glad I am not alone feeling like this. I felt a little tired going in today then once I was done I felt drained. My arm feels a little swollen as well under my armpit . My doc said that is normal. We are almost there girl . I wish it was now instead of over a week more
-
Timbeck don't be scared. You will be fine
-
Becki, remember rads is like chemo in the way people respond. So far, it has just been some fatigue for me. My boob area is starting to change, but only minor pain. Looks worse than it feels. I am also working full time so feel my fatigue is worse due to that. Although time consuming, it does not compare to chemo. You will do fine!
-
Jojo-I have those hair folicles/red dots on my chest, sometimes they itch, but aren't painful. My armpit is the most irritated area, proabably b/c my skin rubs against skin...they gave me a prescription for silverderm? and some weird pillow things to prop my off the area....but really it's not that bad. I think I am a few days ahead of you and Cherioo...I think I finish on March 13...it will be sooooo goooood to be done.
Becki- For me it has been much easier than chemo, I have been going to the gym and I think that has really helped combat the fatigue....and for me it has gone by pretty quickly.
Also JoJo (and anyone else working during treatment)- I think you're badass.
-
Cocobean you are right when you say jojo is kickass. I have not worked since July last year and I am so glad I am home. Working out does help out but today and yesterday were tough days for me fatigue wise.
-
Jojo, Cheerio and Cocobean - you are so close to the end of treatment now. Look how far you have come! Of course you are tired and fed up by now! Just know that you will very soon start to heal and recover and feel like yourselves again. In fact the recovery is already underway. Hair is growing, your body is getting rid of the poisons from chemo and healing from surgery. If you start to burn ask for hydrocortisone. I got that for the last few weeks and it helped.
Thanks everyone for kind words about my hair. It feels great not to have to wear a hat anymore. I'm sure we will all look trendy in our pixie cuts very soon. -
Thanks Neta I will ask my RO
-
Went in today to see my ps in hopes of.removing these dreadful drains but over the weekend I have developed a seroma... A lovely pocket of fluid under my skin next to my incision on the right side... So he drained it and kept my drains in... BOO!
Told me to come back Thursday and hopefully he can remove them. Once I got home I noticed the fluid was back again wtf!
Wondering though if all of you who have had or have tissue expanders do you revert back to your pain meds and valium during expansions?
Meet me ro today he seemed nice. Made an appt for simulation
March 26th..... Also get to start seeing a pt on the 6th for a sleeve and some stretches... Calendar for march is filling fast!
Got a snowday tomorrow so Im gonna chill and watch movies with my kiddos! -
Neta, my RO gave me a bunch of hydrocortisone packets on Monday. Good to know they do help. Thanks for reminding us how far we have come, love that perspective!
-
Marian--I don't mind at all! After all, that's what happens sometimes when you are on chemo!
Mariposa--hope you have a good and smooth recovery.
I am stuffing my face right now before I go to bed. My surgery is tomorrow at 2 pm. I will get the tumors out of my left pectoral muscles, have my foobie tweaked so I don't have a permanent headlight, and have the port removed on the right side. I think I'm going to be a whiner tomorrow night. Please pray that the tumors will be scar tissues and that I don't lose too much pec muscle.
-
Mariposa and Florbo,
Good luck with your surgeries. I hope things go great!!
-
florbo, I am going to be "with you" tomorrow; after all we were fellow virtual pole dancers! One more week until my next surgery.
-
Florbo....Special prayers for you tomorrow!!
These expanders are uncomfortable. Remember when I had the red boob last week. They put me on antibiotics and now it's totally yellow with bruising down my torso. Haven't been able to get a fill. Can't sleep the greatest. In fact, I'm in the recliner tonight. Kindly spooky down here by myself though.
Amy...when I had my fill, it did not hurt. The next day I was tender so took a half of a pain pill. I stay away from the relaxants as they make me hallucinate. One of the weird feelings with these expanders is when I move forward with my waist and come back up, the saline moves around. Sloshy!
It's interesting to hear everyone's journeys. Some of us going through radiation and others through reconstruction. But we are all on the same path and what is that path???? To kick your cancer ass all the way to the curb and all your little friends (bad cells) with you! I'm proud of all of us. We are all such strong women who have been given this crappy bump in the road but we are doing it! And that is because we have each other!
And Neta...you really do look awesome.
