Burn on my cheek bone!?!?

Options

Hi. I just started radiation therapy after mastectomy on my right side. After third treatment, I felt a burning sensation on my right cheek bone- along the highest part of my cheek bone. It felt just like a carpet burn. I couldn't see any colour changes on the skin or any other changes. I asked the technicians the next day and was told it is not from the therapy. "It is not us", they told me. The therapy is focused on the breast, axillary area and claviculat area. I really hope so. The carpet burn sensation lasted about 24 hours and now, I can see very faintly, slight discolouration over that area, exact rectangular pattern. I really really hope it is not from the radiation because otherwise the radiation is seriously misguided. Although I want to trust the staff who are helping me with radiation therapy, I just begin to have doubts and I don't know what to do.

If you genuinely believe the radiation is misquided, stop receiving the therapies, talk to your RO and INSIST the settings be rechecked.  If they refuse, get a different RO so they will have to start over.

Thanks for your reply. I see my RO tomorrow. I will mention it to him. I am not sure what cause the carpet burn sensation on my face. I really hope it is not from the radiation. I will mention it to him and see what he says. Thank you.

So, Insun -- What did the RO say about your cheek bone?

Hi Carolyn. The RO said it cannot be from the radiation, but maybe from tamoxifen or herceptin. I also got ulcerations in my gum and nose lining as well. He said to talk to MO. The MO said it cannot be from tamoxifen or herceptin. So I don't know. The sensation only lasted 24 hours. One of my cancer friend told me she had the same sensation with herceptin. Whatever it is, if it is not due to mistargeted radiation, I am okay with it. And for now, I trust my medical team. :)

Thank you for following up with me. Very sweet of you
