Any good oncologist specialized in treating triple negative?
Just diagnozed with triple negative, Grade 3 - very scared. Does anyone know of a good medical oncologist who is good at treating triple negative breast cancer? Thanks so much!

Skynet, I'm not in Canada, but I know UCLA (in Westwood/Los Angeles, CA), is very good with TNBC, as is MDAnderson in TX. Depending on who you find in Canada, you may also want to get opinions from one of those US institutions, or ask your oncologist to communicate with them for you. Or, as an alternative, you might contact both of those institutions -- get ahold of the oncs there who specialize in TNBC -- and see if they can recommend a colleague in your area -- ideally someone they know who is also on the front lines of bc research. (((Hugs))) & good luck! Deanna

skynet - I am canadian and had her2 BC, another aggressive type and I got a second opinion from Dana Farber in the US, they have an international office that you call. It was very fast, i think less than 2 weeks to be assigned an MO. You need all your files, mammo, u/s biopsy (tissue samples). HOWEVER My first suggestion would be to go to one of the major cancer centers like Sunnybrooke and PMH if you are in Toronto. I am not sure where you live but Im sure if you ask you can get directed to the right center. Although our cancers are not "typical" the treatment regime is pretty much standard - DF recommended AC-T (with herceptin due to her2) and I got FEC-D which is a similar canadian protocol. Depending on the size/stage of your cancer you may want to also ask about chemo before surgery. Sometimes they like to start chemo first especially on triple neg (who respond the best) - if your tumor is large/advanced etc they may want to go this way
there are great centers right here in Canada and treatment for BC is pretty standard in terms of chemo protocols but you can get a second opinion in the US. I found trying to get a second opinion between cdn centers tough - the system is very crowded and wait times are long - your best bet is a cancer center with a dedicated breast center where they treat/see a lot of cases
i would also go on the triple negative forum and ask those ladies what treatments they are getting - you will get a good sense of what is typical
good luck

Hi.. I was diagnosed with TNBC in 2009... then it came back in 2012....
I am going to Sloan. I tried Vanilorbene.. and it spread.. then Taxol... and it did not spread but it didn't shrink either and they were not pleased with the results. So 3 weeks ago I started Eribulin.
Thanks to God, I still have ALL of my hair since I use the ice caps according to the instructions...
I just don't know what to think as I feel fine.... except for this hanging over my head....

I had Triple negative and I had adrimycin, cyclophosphamide and taxotere, then surgery, then radiation, and then more chemo cisplatin and vinorelbine. the cisplatin and vino are mainly for stage 4, but my onc. pushed for it, cuz he believed those chemos worked well on triple negative.
