Hello,

I been on Tamoxifen for a one year and three months now and I have been gaining since I started with Tamoxifee. Overall I have gained 20 pounds. Just wonder if this normal or not and have anyone having this problem too. I have been exercising, two times a week for an hour. My onc said I should try 3 times a week of exercising, I have been only doing cardio and nothing esl. Wondering what other exercise I should try to prevent from gaining more weight, beacuse my cardio excersing is not preventing it.

Thanks

Mandy

    Hi Mandy,

According to the main Breastcancer.org site's page on Tamoxifen, a common side effect of the drug is in fact Weight Gain -- click the link to find out some tips to help manage this side effect.

In addition, the Nutrition and Exercise sections offer some great advice and tips for losing and maintaining weight.

    Hope this helps!

Weight gain on Tamoxifen is real. We hear you. I'm trying to measure myself by my glucose, blood presure, and cholesterol rather than the size of my pants. The best advice I have is right down/journal everything you eat. Weight loss is controlling calories in and burning calories. Knowing what you're actually consuming can be part of the solution.

Thanks Mods for the information and thanks Bilateralbeauties.  I'll look into my eating habit and try to control the portion size too. It just its hard to control your portion size or calories counting when you are Chinese, you eat like a family style all the time and parents and grandparent always shoving food in front of you and you feel bad for not eating it.

Beckers, its good to know that I am not alone on this journey where I have you guy to talk to.

    Thanks

    Mandy
