I don't totally understand TN and DCIS.

I was dx a yr ago and feel like I should know the answer and understand this but do not. I would appreciate any clarification and knowledge so that I can put these 2 questions and some worry behind me.

(1) TN means high grade, correct? So, does this mean that TN is automatically grade 3? I don't think so but am not sure.

(2) Does TN have the same possible recurrence rate (higher within 5 years of treatment) or is it interpreted differently with DCIS?p>

Hello Lisagwa, I noticed your post while browsing through the triple negative forum.

To answer your first question, being diagnosed with TNBC does not automatically mean that you are grade 3. I have seen posts in the past where people are grade 2. On my own thread Calling All Triple Negative Patients in the UK,someone has just posted to say they have been told they are grade1. You are welcome to come and join us as people from all over the world post here. You could also post on Calling All TNs to get help.

As for the second question about recurrence it is difficult to generalise as we are all different. This is a question you might want to put to your oncologist, as well as whether grade 3 with DCIS is the same as grade 3 with IDC (Invasive Ductal Carcinoma)

Wishing you all the very best,

    Sylvia.

Thanks, Sylvia, I copied this to the thread "All TN." I hope to get some input on either thread.
