Oh Edi.....soooooo jealous!!!!!...your description of your time with DD and GDs is beautiful....this is my dream!!!!...but my two sons don't even have girlfriends yet WTH
May be I should give them both a Glasgow kiss to help them both get started ....lol
Yes, it was hell for my mother always having to be nice to the "b" just in case she would
Do what she eventually did....my mom didn't see the grandchildren for a few years!!!!
Oh it's a long story that of course I won't bore anybody with, but yes, BE CAREFUL!!!!! -
Edi- so glad u had a great day !!
It seems we all have a little out with the old in with the new ( ur redecorating )
Traii- u r too funny. Up until all hours of the night;)
Nihahi- thanks for the pictures!!!
Websites - hope u have a great day with mom.
Lifie- it's true about dreams , but time for new dreams. I have to follow thru. Things have to change. Time to live happily. He is toxic just like those chemicals I just finished !!! -
Stirfry.....I like that! Not a good night, but, what can you do. Edi, we all get how carefully you must tread, it just makes us livid to know that one of our "sisters", (like Dakota also) have such toxic people in their lives. Like you, I believe that somehow, someday, she will be in the situation of needing compassion and support, and will find what it is like when that is not given.
Traii....sounds like you've definitely got some nightowl genes in your makeup. Still hot in Aus? I haven't heard about fires lately, but hopefully that is a good thing. We had some snow here over night, just enough to cover up some of the dirty stuff on the roads, but I think the mountains got more. WooHoo...going back on Friday!!!!!
My daughter is coming over for a "visit" today. She is a lovely girl, but on days when her depression is in control, an hour with her is like eternity, as she just sits there. Hubby isn't a talker, so I spend the time babbling like an idiot, trying to keep the two of them "interacting". Exhausting and I'm already exhausted, so I'll have to double up on the caffeine to get through it.
Liefie, hope the eye is settling down nicely.
Lesleyanne......have you gotten out and about on the trails yet?
Benny.......what's up girl? Hope you are still connecting with the support centre people and their resources.
Time for another coffee. Have a good Sunday everybody.
-
Still really hot here...windy and hot
No fires that are out of control which is good!
Good luck with the visit from your Daughter today...hope dh and ds are talkative!!
Mountains on friday sounds great I'll meet u there
-
9pm here and Edi knackered again. Sorted out upstairs for the plumber this morning. Emptied bathroom cupboard, just how many bottles of shower gel does a person need ? Going to list what is there and won't buy any until all gone.
Had shower and got glammed up as our lovely neighbour and his wife came for tea and cake. six hours later we were still chatting and laughing, it defo is the best tonic.Scottie, don't give up !! I watched all my friends having what seemed like dozens of grandkids. Had just about given up the DS met the "B" and they had two in quick sucession.
Four years later both daughters pregnant three weeks apart. Grandkids like buses, none then pow !
Just don't let your lads get their brides via a church magazine or the internet.
So awful for your poor Mum and not seeing the grandkids. If my son ever left the "B" I know that would happen but as long as he was safe and happy again we would have to grin and bear it.
He didn't marry until he was 31 how old are your lads ?Dakota, not DH and chemo great comparison i.e. Toxic. Hope all goes well with your plans.
Stirfry, lol hope you are feeling better. Those mountains must be really beautiful with the extra snow.Hope visit from daughter not too bad.
Traii, you know me sooo well, about a gallon of tea swallowed today. Will have to cut down as from tomorrow, loo will be gone so will have to come downstairs and through to back of house to other one. May just put sleeping bag by the door saves a lot of running up and down.
Hope bunny boy gave you a bit of peace today but very much doubt it. Like you I am a night owl but not as much now as get too tired to see the TV.
DH fast asleep on settee, poor man's batteries have gone flat.
Hot and windy doesnt sound too much fun, been like a spring day here. Not too cold and really sunny. I have solar lights all over the back garden and they are twinkling like little stars.Adagio, hope you are feeling ok.
Gonna hit the hay as eyes crossing with tiredness, see you all tomorrow, xx
-
Hi Everyone,
Dakota- I am so proud of you!! It will be tough but you can do it!
Edi- I would not be able to keep my mouth shut! Your daughter in law sounds like my brothers first wife, they stayed together until the kids were older and he finally wised up. Your grand-daughers are beautiful.
Nihahi- Enjoy the time with your daughter I hope it goes well. Hope the alien boob is behaving.
Traii- Hope the wind dies down soon. Fires really scare me, we had two major ones here one in 2004 and 2008. We had to evacuate both times, we were very lucky to able to come home to our house. Both in Oct which is very windy for us..
Scottie, Websister, Bearcub, Bevlee, and everyone else hope you had a nice weekend.
Birthday dinner tomorrow night, can I have a glass of wine? I haven't had one since I started Chemo and my next treatment is Thursday.. If not a glass than maybe a sip??
Love you all,
Carla
-
Carlads.........Happy Birthday tomorrow....lol....if you can't have a glass of wine on your birthday..you might as well become tea total!!!!,....enjoy that wine💃
Dakota....you have so many wonderful supportive women here who will get you through
this.....as I said, you deserve so much more than you are getting, or not getting actually.
Edi....my sons are 26 and 29.....do you have any gals in mind over there????.....lol
Toronto has a family day tomorrow so no school. I'm an early bird (6am) but there is nothing I like better than to make a coffee and go back to bed and read or come here.
Edi. Talking about reading....I just downloaded a book that takes place in Glasgow called
"The Deathe of Bees".....oh boy I'm homesick.....lol -
Carla, HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, have a wonderful day with your beautiful family. I was told I could have a little drink just not the WHOLE bottle of scotch , As if !! lol
My darling boy told me once that he is saving to get out when the girls are older. One day he will have an inheritance from us and just hope it isnt too late for his sanity to be in tact.
Thank you ,the girls are growing so fast and the only awful thing is that the eldest one who is ten, is like a clone of "the bride from hell" the younger one is a sweet loving soul just like my boy and to see them together is beautiful. DIL encourages the girls to criticise DS especially in front of me so I tell them how wonderful he is, but then look at his sad face and want to just gather him up and keep him safe.
Hope he does what your brother did one day.I pray that I will live to see that day, what a party that will be YAY.Scottie, bet you are looking after your lads too well. They don't want to leave. Are you coming home this year, ?
Eyes now like pee holes in the snow but still can't sleep !!! How weird is that.
Question, has anyone else had a feeling like there is a spot on the tip of their tongue ?
There isn't anything there but feels like a zit about to erupt. Eating ok but everything still has the consistency of a flippin bath sponge. lol
Gonna get me a mug of warm milk to bring on the ZZZZ'sLove all you sisters XX
-
Edi - hope that you were able to get to sleep, sounds like you had a wonderful time celebrating DD's birthday and then with the neighbours.
Carla - Happy Birthday tomorrow!
Traii - four hours sleep is not enough - hope you are recharging this afternoon when energizer bunny is (ps - I think he gets it from his Mom

Nihahi - hope alien behaved today, it was wonderful to wake up to the skiff of snow we had. Glad you are able to get out again on Friday, we will be headed through the mountains on Saturday to go help celebrate my youngest grandson's first birthday - the theme of the party will be owls, should be wonderful.
Scottie - my guys were clueless when it came to whether a girl was interested in them or not, the girls had to be downright forward with them. I have been very fortunate so far that the right girls 'chose' them
Dakota - my husband and I went out for supper last night and I was telling him about your situation - he said something I thought was very good, not sure if it's original with him - what he said was this - Hard times don't so much improve a person's character as reveal a person's character. In your case gold was revealed, not so with your DH.
Liefie - hope those stitches are behaving themselves and that your eye is almost better
Benny - Heartland was just over, I hope you were comfortable and cuddled up with Benny watching it
Mom was so excited to be getting out today, there was a point in the day where she was bossing me around a bit and I mentioned in an aside to my DH that she was being a bit of a 'diva', he winked and suggested that maybe she needed to be one, just for today. Tomorrow is a holiday here so plan on sleeping late and staying in my pajamas as long as possible (my turn to be a diva).
Take care

-
Ladies havent read through posts just on to tell you fire has hit close to home and we just waiting .. power may go off so not sure if i'll be on later. DH got evacuated so far close to 300 acres too windy and out of control hope wind direction changes soon........
-
Dear Traii.....be safe. Prayers going out for you and your loved ones. Love to all ((((x))))
-
Carla,
Happy Birthday tomorrow. I hope you have a blessed day and really do enjoy the wine.
Sheryl
-
Traii,
Stay safe, I am praying for the fires to die down and the winds to stop blowing.
Hugs, Sheryl
-
Traii, it's late, and I am going to bed now, but just want to say that I'm thinking of you, and praying for the wind to change. Please let us know when you can that you and your family are safe.
-
ladies, thanks for your prayers and thoughts Nihahi, Sheryl & Lifie, So far we are being told to stay put and not go anywhere due to poor visability because of the smoke. Will check in later Good night liefie darling
xx -
Traii baby girl, just logged on, what the xxxx ! Praying harder than ever before for all to be ok. Let us know if and when you can. Just stay safe we all need you XXXX
Websister your DH is such a sweet man, Mom being a Diva is cute as she hasn't lost her spirit.
Love PJ's ALL day if I can. Here some ladies here even go to the supermarket in theirs lol. Also young ones wear their huge hair rollers too. When shopping with GD Saturday lady in front of me had on some really pretty pj pants underneath her coat but even tho I love mine, have to at least change into real clothes to shop lol.
Spot on about of wonderful Dakota, she has emerged as a beautiful brave butterfly, her not DH on the otherhand is beyond a description maybe cockroach ?
Sooo jealous of the girls your boys have, all we wanted for him was a normal happy life. She was only the second girl he had ever been out with. His first girl was with him for a good few years but got fed up waiting for him to commit, think he panicked when years went by then he saw DIL in church mag. Contacted her and she had him up the aisle like a rocket.
Would love to do an owl cake for little one, wish you were nearer.Liefie, hope eye all back to normal ?
Nihahi, hope alien abated somewhat.
Have to hop off as DH stomping up and down, plumber here ripping out bathroom and typical DH twittering about fussing fit to spit.
See you all later xxx -
Oh what a day! fire hasn't cleared. Still out of control, it's now up to 1900 hectares of land. 100 firetrucks and 9 helicopters I pray for those fighting these terrible fires. We are out of the 'danger' zone so to speak but hoping winds don't change overnight to push it just over the freeway into my suburb......
Edi, Good morning to you. Hope the workers don't hold up the loo too much, just go easy on your cuppas today okay! Its so funny how males can be when work getting done and we just have to 'keep them calm' lol..my DH is a handy man and a perfectionist and if someone comes out to do something welllll ....... lol
Carlads, fires are truely scary, I wish I knew how to post pics on here as they won't work for me.....I would have shown how close we were too....horrible. Hope you have a great day for your BIRTHDAY , whoo hoo 21 today !!!! lol
Websister, hope you get the rest you need today and stay in your pjs all day....love pj days...can't wait for winter , Sundays , ahhh (okay wake up now Traii, it's still 30 degrees here at 9:30 pm and too damn hot) ! thank goodness for aircon ! Love the fact your mum was bossing you around today and enjoyed her day out......Enjoy your pj day diva girl

Nihahi, definetely a night owl....I'm a hot flushed owl at the moment, too hot even with aircon on I'm going through a hot hot flash....lol.....
Enjoy your day everyone.... not sure if I will be able to get to work tomorrow, roads around there are all blocked off and burnt off so I will have to call in the morning !! Off to watch one of my fav shows .... ' Revenge ' lol !
-
Trail .....stay safe!!!!!!
Carlads.....Enjoy your birthday today 💃
Websister....what Edi said about your husband....he sounds like such a doll.
My older son sounds a bit like your boys but my younger one has no issues about being shy...he says he is looking for a "good girl"!!!!....I told him to go to the library on a Saturday night......lol
Edi....if I keep reading your posts, I'll have to buy some diapers (nappies to you) your sense of humour is just wonderful and you have me almost peeing my pants over your "adventures" ....ok I'm 65, but I'm blaming you for the diapers anyway.....lol. I hope
to go home Edi....I'm experiencing what some other women here seem to go through too, in that I get anxious when taken out of my "comfort zone" ....that being my work,
neighbourhood and home.....hate that BC has done this to me and my GP is not great
on the scrips for anti-anxiety meds which make me feel so much better. I have to see my MO tomorrow for my six month check-up but he's worse about giving out scrips...tells me to see my GP.....WTH....wonder if it's too late to dump the old man and find a doc for a husband....lol
Liefie....hope your eye is healing well. -
Traii, YAY that you are ok DH gone out on shopping expedition
so flew back on here to check on my baby girl. Sooo relieved and hope it all dies down soon. Those firefighters are true heroes and all the others involved too.
Glad not just my DH who is a pain in the butt lol. Plumber is a real gentleman and his sidekick is his nephew. They have covered all my stair carpet with huge sheets. They love tea ha ha so my kind of workies. Most bits sink, bath, etc out in the back ready to be taken away.
I have working loo out by my sun room ( thats a laugh sun ha ) so can drink tea until it comes out of my ears.
DH is a handyman but I insist we get professionals in for this. He like yours is a perfectionist and drives me to drink ( I should be so lucky ) I have told him to leave them in peace as the plumber has been doing this for many years and comes highly recommended.
The last time we had a bathroom done in our old house, I think it took the fella about six weeks !!! I used to come in from work to see the toilet sitting at the top of the stairs like a flippin flower vase. He would then put it back, then next day flower vase again ! Then one day he couldn't come as he had to bury his cat which had died in the night
When bathroom was finished it was lovely but thank goodnes we had agreed on a set payment for the whole job not an hourly rate, we would have been bankrupt lol.
Has DS been ok with the smoke etc. Bet he finds it all fascinating.
Keep safe ( hug ) xCarla, have a big chunk of cake for me, and a truly lovely Birthday.x
Better stuff this netbook behind cushion before Happy Harry as DH is known comes back with extra milk for all these teas.
All you girls take care of yourselves, healing, peace and love to ALL of you xx
-
Lol you make me laugh cyber mummy Edi, jumping on here while DH out.......he is so like my DH....I tell mine to move away while the workers do their job , but no he has to check out everything...like when we were building this house, he made the brick layers knock down a entire wall because the mortar was too thick and some thin and was just inconsistant....!! talk about pain in the a#@!!!! lol.
Lucky you didn't pay the other plumber an hourly rate, it would have cost a fortune, lol....!
Wow, you found a man that likes he's tea ...... lucky you have the loo in the 'sun' room......drink away dear mummy!
Hope that notebook has been hidden safely, not somewhere where DH may pop his butt on to sit and whoo.....there goes that notebook...lol xx enjoy your day of making tea xx
DS has been fascinated .. he would run out the back yard to look at all the smoke.... he was in his element being 'fireman sam ' and all....... I sat down and talked to him again about the danger of fires and he was so interested in our conversation it was very cute. The news would come on and he would tell ME to shhhh mummy, news on about the fires.....( cute he was today, yesterday was another story
) !! -
Hi ladies -
Traii - god bless hope ur safe
-
Web sister - thanks for sharing ur DH comments. The cockroach (thanks edi ) has not even called to say hello to the kids since he left on Saturday. It is Monday here now!!!
It's a holiday here too !!
Happy birthday Carlads!!
Edi- ur son will be sane. He will be full of life. I love that he is so astute !! Traii - ur husband too!!!
The cockroach is not the least but handy I am more handy than him!!
In my next life..... Lol
Hope u all have a great day!!!
DS had a sleepover with two little hockey friends have to check on them .... Boys
-
Traii....so glad to see your posts on here this morning!!!!! Fires are so frightening-they can change so quickly. Guess all of our prayers "blew" the right way! Just what you need, eh....more hot air!
Carla...Happy, happy, happy, happy, haaaappppyyyyyyyyyyyBirthday!!!!!!
Edi...Hope the reno's go smoothly, bet you're excited. So much fun to redo things isn't it? Always made me wonder why the heck we ever waited so long to get stuff done.
My hubby, not at all handy, but thinks he is....even more frustrating than a fussy perfectionist, let me tell you!
Websister, bet the "day out" yesterday did Mom a whole world of good. Now, for you today, hope those pj's are comfy, you've earned them.
Dakota...Wow, sleepovers used to just exhaust me. I never slept, hearing every little noise would get me wide awake, wondering what the kids were up to. Never understood why the name was "sleep"over, cause not much sleeping ever happened!!!!! Now, I miss those days!
Scottie, Edi ...my fatigue and fears lasted long after chemo finished. Be kind to yourself and remember the "but I SHOULD be able to" thoughts on someone else's doorstep, or better yet, buried in the garbage. You are doing wonderfully, be proud of yourselves. Scottie.....you don't mention friends much..hope you have a couple good girls there with you, and spend some time with them, even if it is an honest "I need to moan" chat every now and then. Is there a bc support centre out there you can access? Someone has to acknowledge that bc is depressing, nothing wrong with a pill to help you through it. Once you get both feet under you again and can take some steps that feel like you"re moving towards a "normal life", maybe you can ditch them. Keep asking for help, someone there will hear you!!!!!
Liefie...congrats on the diep date. We can keep each other brave!!!!!
Bearcub, Benny, Luvmy, Kheemo, 46, et all...what's up guys?
-
Traii - Hope your are safe in your home but just googling fires around Craigieburn. Prayers from here sweetie. So scary. Hope you, DH and DS are safe. PLEASE let us know when you can.
Nihahi and others - just busy around house. Nothing special and nothing to report. BUT I do read everyday just not posting so much.
Dakota - a special shoutout for your last chemo day I misssed last week. And a POX on not DH. Any chance you can get a school job to be off when kiddies off?
Will try to be more timely but I do love everyone on here. One of my favorite threads and look at it first when I open up BCO.
-
Benny.....I'm picturing you buried under sacks of potatoes.....!!!!!!!! Can just see the pointy toes of your cowboy boots.....?? Can you give us just a tiny "hi" to let us know you're ok?????
-
Benny - I second Nihahi's suggestion. What's happenin' sister?
-
Yikes! I have so much reading to do to catch up! I will tackle that this evening but for now, I am off to hit the slopes! Yes, I am learning to ski. I had my first attempt yesterday and made it through the day only falling twice. It was awesome! My daughter has ski week so we took her and a friend to Tahoe - about a 4-hour drive from us. It was so beautiful and sunny yesterday. I will read and post again tonight when I can lenr about all that has transpired. I hope everyone is feeling ok.
Big hugs to all of you!
-
Luv my -
My not so DH is an assistant principle. Was a special Ed teacher for my years. We never changed cuz he was off when the kids were. -
Well, as usual, I'm 3 pages behind again! Just sipping my tea and honey and reading through. This thread sure brings out the emotions.... some parts make me howl with laughter, others I'm crying with compassion and empathy, some I am so angry that i can't 'fix' the situation for those who have been wronged, and others the fear is real and gripping (Traii, hope the fires are abating. What little hair I have on my head stood on edge when I read your first post about that).
I had a few touch-and-go days this past week. The mucositis was bad but the weakness was staggering. One day I couldn't even get out of bed and so called my friend Ev and the chemo care center. It was horrible and scary. But, no hospital! I just kept drinking Glucerna and water and getting at least 1300 calories and 70 grams of protein in. I am now off the codeine (yay!) and eating whatever I want (almost.... still haven't tried the Bold BarBQ Doritos that I have been craving for months). Yesterday was at the farm for the first time and only stayed for 2 hours but was worth it. Today i am hopefully going to ride.
Nihahi, I howled over the potato scene, which I immediately visualized! Just for that i took a picture for you of my remaining potato collection, and what's left of my water. I think I'm going to donate the potatoes to the food bank. I never want to see a potato again. I might plant that little guy in the middle as he's taken on a life of his own. The photos of the balloons were stunning (and my potato/water photos dramatically pale in comparison I realize) and i love the message.

Websister, I did watch Heartland but I sat on my giant exercise ball and balanced throughout the show. It helps my balance plus I pretend I'm sitting on my horse haha! I can't believe I just shared that on the internet. I'll be right behind you with the radiation; we can compare notes! I haven't yet picked up the porridge but will do so soon, thank you for the instructions. Glad to hear the insurance company is providing a vehicle, but if you change your mind and want to drive a vintage 1983 show car (Mazda RX7), just let me know. And I smiled when I read that your mom was being Diva for the Day! She's probably just trying to re-gain some of the control she feels she's lost after her recent episode with the hip and hospitalization. Bless her heart.
Liefie, so glad your eye is doing so well. You are so right about the muscle tone, especially in the thigh region. My legs are like sticks and skin is hanging on my thighs. I want to start weight training but will talk to physiotherapist first.
Caitlin, thank you for the nutritional info. Isn't that interesting about the sun-warmed water?! We used to make iced tea that way when I was a kid. I might try it again! And my dietician told me to eats lots of dairy (as tolerated) because it is so good for protein. She also said they had 'lifted the ban on soy' and now recommend 2 servings per week as acceptable. Will be interesting to hear what you find out.
Scottie, I was born with a slight heart murmur. It followed me into my late teens, then it just disappeared? I'm now 54 and going strong (well, my heart is anyway) and my MUGA scan showed my heart is VERY strong, no murmurs whatsoever. So, is it possible he will 'outgrow' it? That's what my doctor suggested happened to me.
Dakota, what i know from being in a really bad relationship when i was in my mid-thirties is that you feel way more alone in a bad relationship than you do when you're alone, if that makes sense. YOU DESERVE BETTER. You're making sweeping positive changes in your life now. Keep the momentum going and don't settle for less. You and your kids deserve it.
Adagio, so glad your last chemo went okay. I can imagine how scared you were.
Edi, I cried when I read about your DIL's influence on that dear little one. I hope she learns some serious life lessons in short order. I'm glad he's got you for support.
Carlads, hope you are having a HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! ♫ ♫ ♫ ♥ ♥
Keemo, be careful with that skiing stuff. You can't ride a horse with a cast on LOL (just kidding) have fun!
Okay, my very best to all my sisters in this thread, and anyone who's just reading.
I am off to the farm to see the giant plush toy. It's kind of cold out today, which means extra layers of clothing and takes the fun out of horsing around a bit, but I am just so glad to be feeling better than not much could get me down!
Have a great day everyone!!!!! ♥

-
ok gorgeous girls THIRD freakin try at this post. Now on DH real computer, ie sits on a desk with lots of bits lol.
He just caught me !! he was asleep on his settee, he has worked so hard today bossing the plumbers about. They were amazing, ripped out old bathroom, built units to house the sink and posh new loo. Then left everywhere immaculate. Even brought down their tea mugs. Putting in new ceiling tomorrow with spot lights. It will be like being a movie star.
We have solved the Edi needing to pee problem I am in the sun room ( ha ha ) where we have a bed settee, right next to downstairs bathroom !!
Looking out at the beautiful night sky and sending love to all of you.Traii, hope that wind has dropped and you are still safe.DS and fireman Sam really cute.Your DH making them knock down a wall !! Here the brickies would have walled him up in it.
By the way the plumber is good, but pretty ancient and he pees more than me.lol.
If DH sat on my notebook he would be fishing his wedding tackle out of the stream at the bottom of our garden.Dakota, sorry about the cockroach bit but couldn't think of anything in the insect world that is nastier.
you have emerged from your chrysalis and turned into a beautiful glass butterfly. One of God's loveliest creatures. He shouldn't even inhabit the same planet as you.Nihahi, All work on house going well, so sad that it takes BC to make things finally happen, but at least something good coming out of it.
DH's handy or not can still reek havoc lol.
The fatigue really kicking in today but mine thinks I am immortal, suggested I iron new bedroom curtains, he got told where to shove curtains plus iron and board.lolLuvmy, we know you are out there as are so many amazing sisters.
Websister, Did sleep last night thanks but eyes still want to close most of today. Think I will try a good walk tomorrow.Hope you enjoyed pj day ?
Keemo, skiing ? GO GIRL hope you have fun.
Scottie, gonna look at that book. I too get scared when have to leave the house, feel safe here. Got to have my diabetic blood test on Friday and already apprehensive. Will maybe see if I can get some calming type of tablets.
Benny, last but not least. That last pic of you and Di made me cry a little. So beautiful !! Pic of those flamin spuds and water are priceless. Glad you are taking fuel onboard. You will be back to full strength before you know it.
DH crashing around in the kitchen. Think he is feeling neglected lol.
See you all tomorrow God Bless and keep you safe xx
