I want to remove my implant!

Hi everyone,

I posted this on the Breast Reconstruction forum, but thought this forum might have some insight as well.

I'm about a year out from my exchange (Mar 2012).  I had UMX with tissue expander, then implant.  Here's the thing...I don't like it and I want to have it removed.  I feel like I have one of those blue gel ice packs hanging on my chest.  I'm about a C/D cup and that may be part of the reason.  This sucker is heavy!

I'm having pain in the armpit.  Nerve issues with my arm, going down to my hand.  Then I read about the dangers of silicone and I wonder why I'm going through all of this in order to have a mound on my chest.  My husband is supportive and will love me no matter what I choose.  It would be odd to have one flat side and one C/D side (I already had reduction on non BC side).  But, I'm assuming there must be squishee inserts I could put into a bra for time when I wear a tight shirt - yes?

Anyone else feel this way?

I see my PS in early March for 1 year follow-up.  I'd like to discuss removal.  Does anyone know anything about the process?  I'd love to hear feedback.

Thanks!

Merrit

I am very happy with my implants but I would imagine that removing one would be fairly easy. If you're not interested in any other type of recon, make sure your ps leaves you with a flat, smooth chest. With respect to silicone, current implants are unlikely to rupture and if they do, the cohesive gel does not leak. It is quite "solid". Very different from earlier generations of implants but if you are uncomfortable, that should be your main concern. Hope you get it taken care of soon.

You may want to try the living without recon forum as well. I know there are several ladies there who have "deconstructed" their recons for various reasons. I never had any recon, so I can't really answer your questions.
