Radiation after reconstruction

Hi all,

I'm new here and still (trying) to learn about my BC. I'm told its stage III locally advanced but I have no nodes involved upon clinical exam. I did 8 rounds of neoadjuvant chemo (AC-T) to shrink a 6+cm tumour. It has shrunk significantly but as I'm still pre-op I don't know anymore than that. My question is has anyone had a diep flap prior to radiation and what was the result?

    Hi shianne29,

    I have just logged on to breastcancer.org after a long absence.  I finished treatment in 2011.  My old handle was Cat123 but I forgot my password and now have a new email address so I got a new account.  Anyway....I can't completely answer your question but I had an implant recon prior to radiation.  This is the least successful after rads but it turned out fine.  I little hard as compared to most and I have heard that putting a skin graft nipple may not work.  Hope this helps!
