Stay warm and inside you northerners! Teka, hope DH feels better soon! Nothing worse than a DH with a cold :p

Bgirl, hope this weekend brings some warm hermitting. Sorry about the snow :(

Hi fl, jazzy, Skittle, shambles, Jinkala, curve!

Camille, the way I handled the fire was very amusing to those watching. Apparently I ran out in the hallway flapping my arms yelling for someone to call the vice principal (male). He showed up half an hour after the firemen left. All the women at school found it hilarious that my thoughts for help were to yell for the slacker man at school, lol. Sexism alive and well in my head. He is cute though (wink). Shhh dont tell my DH.

Jinkala... both cats came to us from abandoned early, early kittenhood.  (One was about three weeks old, dehydrated to the point of being skeletal... and as a result, has stayed kitten-sized even though she's two years old.)  Anyway, long story short--they both curl up, purr a while, and fall asleep with their only knowninmemory mama cat...me.  If they pounced and played at bedtime, I'd boot them out, too!  :-)

bgirl, teka, Snowy hermits... be safe.  Don't overdo.  Shoveling snow is quite a workout.

Camille... what does gs do for Valentines?  I made tootsie pop super heroes last year, and the kids loved them.  (easy, too.)

Teka... save a plane seat for me.  FL, you'll have a crowd!

I love the furbaby story and thank God u came along poor baby but they are both happy now and u too.

That is so clever Skittle.--Joey and my DD got some candy cards today and they took and empty seriel box and completely covered it with red and pink construction paper (with hearts) and he'll put his stuff in there for school.  Then of course he ets his mommy a card that he makes

Yes I definitely was flapping like a chicken.

Skittle my cat is small like that also. We adopted her at 6months from the shelter and she really hasn't gotten much bigger. She screams like a banshee when her food dish is empty, terrified that the dog will eat it all.

Well we had a nice lazy night. The girls went to my mom's and we went grocery shopping. I want to make some cute Valentines with the girls but girl scout cookies came in today so we might have to just do the boxed kind this year.

Skittle - we got two of our cats as kittens around 3 or 4 months old.  They had been abandoned (the whole litter) in a box near a pet store and the mother of one of the employees raised them on bottles.  This was about 4 or 5 years ago and they just can't stay out of stuff.  They pry open cardboard boxes to see what's inside.  They climb up in the storage shelves and find noisy things to poke into.  They climb up the curtains.  They've pretty much destroyed the vertical blinds in the living room.  We love them but they drive us nuts at times.

The other cat is about 6 months old now and I am guessing it was about 4 or 5 weeks old when my boyfriend brought it home about a week after my first chemo treatment back in August.  It had fallen from beneath an SUV that he had been behind on a busy street.  When he realized that it was something moving, he slammed on the brakes and jumped out to grab it.  There was no way to catch up to the SUV after catching the slightly stunned kitten that was trying to run and hide.  No one at his work wanted to adopt it so we ended up with it.  He brought it home and dropped it on the bed.  It cried all that night and the next day it curled up between my fuzzy socked feet while I was on the computer.  He is such a good little kitty now and he's very attatched to me since he spent so much time in the room with me while I was recovering from chemo.  If he was our only kitty, we'd probably have him sleeping in with us.

camille, bgirl--What a small world!  Cats and cookies!  I, too, used to have them stacked to the ceiling (oops.  that's cookies, not cats) for my troop...  Years and years of cookies.  I had the same girls from Brownies to sixth grade, and then it wasn't "cool" any more.

markat... lovely night.  Sounds sweet.  Minikitty must have quite a personality--glad she has such a good home to love her.  Ours hardly says a peep.  Her older "brother" is the vocal one.

Jinkala...glad your bf has quick reflexes!  Years and years ago we scooped up a tuxedo kitten (dd1's first, lived to 18) from the center of a busy intersection.  We saw him being flung from a van window.,,  he was starved and battered, but grew to 15 lbs.  To this day, when we drive in that area, we call it Arthur junction.

Has the snow/blizzard stopped?  Everyone safe and warm?  (Fl... I will always have beach envy.)  Cool

Seems as we all have some kind of fur-baby/ies.  And it sounds like lots of them are recued fur-babies! I have had kittens/cats in the past, but do not have any right now.  I do have the sweetest, most loyal, loving rescue dog.  I rescued her 12 years ago.  She will be 13 in May. She was my "chemo-angel".  She never left my side, if I stayed in bed all day on the bad days, she stayed there with me.

Skittle, I once longed for the beach.  I was raised and lived land-locked for a long time. I lived very close to a lake, but it just wasn't the same... I have always been drawn to the water.  I love boating, sailing, kayaking, beach walking & shelling. Being by the ocean is good for my soul.  It gives me peace. I decided that I wanted to make it a reality and I planned for several years, I went to several coastal states to visit and did lots of research. My son wanted to be by the water to. During the spring of his Sr. year I put my house up for sale. He graduated from high-school, the house sold and we moved (1/2 way across the country) to FL (10 1/2 years ago). I love living by the water and being in a tropical climate.  I can't imagine ever living away from the water again. I will admit that I do entertain the idea of moving to a smaller, lazier, slower-paced beach town some day...must be the hermit in me...Wink

Hello all hermits hope you are all having a relaxed and peaceful weekend!

Happy Sunday fellow hermits- enjoying another day of hermitude this weekend. Getting lots of things done at home that need my attention, and also with tax stuff. I realized yesterday that I am just one irritable hermit right now around a few things and a few people. So going into my hermit shell is the best way to get rebalanced. Yoga, reading, some good healthy food, and rest have all helped me to feel better today.

Love hearing the stories about all the kitties and other fur babies. I don't have pets due to allergies, but do love all animals. I am thinking eventually I may get myself a dog, as I am not as allergic to them.

Hoping you are all having a lovely sunday and the strength to begin another week!

OH kind of happy conversation about our furbabies Today my DD was taking a nap and she had the dog on one side and the cat on the other, they were laying right next to her it was so cute. When my furbaby (the cat) is with me she lays right on top of me--she used to love my boobs they were nice and mushy, since bein concave she has to circle around to get a good spot for her. LOL

Oh I'm glad that u guys are getting recharged for the week. This week will be quiet, then the next week a couple of tests and a little Dr. stuff. which BTW I still hate.

FL... DH and I are polar opposites on planning... I always wanted to plan a beach home and live happily ever after there.  He wanted our girls to have roots and grow up surrounded by grandparents and not moving from place to place...  but the water calls to me.

Rant alert.  If you've had a rotten day, feel free to skip...  My morning began with my first class having to evacuate to make room for paramedics to come take my epileptic student to the hospital...  third school day in a row.  My day ended with my writing up a student for smashing another student's face in the water fountain.  She left the building swearing to kill me and calling me B... (I didn't hear her/others reported it.) So that'll begin my morning tomorrow.  I left the building never wanting to teach again.  (I'll get over it.  It was just a rotten day.)

Camille... I hope all your appts go well and the drs are good to you.  Hoping for a good Tuesday for all.

Skittle- a hard day for you for sure. That is a lot of stress to deal with the student who had the seizure, the aggressive student behavior too. I do understand about not wanting to teach ever again after a day like that. I think it  is so hard for teachers anymore. God bless you for what you do for those kids.

I grew up by the ocean but no longer live near one. I often vacation in places where I have the ocean nearby. I too think I will find my way to the water again.

Hoping for a good tuesday tomorrow. Fat Tuesday too, as they say!

Skittle, so sorry you had such a crappy day.  Hope today is better.  Hope things are going better at work for you too Markat and FL warrior.

Cami, just thinking about drs apts stresses me out.  Have to go see my PCP in next couple of weeks to renew some regular prescriptions and don't even want to do that.  Don't envy you more tests/apts.

Back at PT for SI joint problem, back taped to keep joint firm helping a little, but not really getting any better.  My PCP would not give me more anti-inflammatories (which do mask it) until I tried something else.  My wallet is getting lighter with co-pay but not sure about much else.  Woke up this morning with a bit of a sore throat ... probably from going out on weekend ... now I remember why I don't want to be around people some times.

Hope everyone's week gets better... Happy thoughts to all.

bgirl... so very sorry to hear of your pain.  It affects everything.  I hope your sore throat goes away quickly so you have one less burden to deal with.

camille... those drs need to put their heads together to help you.  That D cannot be easy to live with.  Wishing you better days.

all... thank you for the good wishes.  Today was a shocker.  The principal actually suspended her for two days!  (That Never happens at our school.  Never.)  So--I don't know what she must have said, but it had to be rough to have that consequence.  Makes me so sad that she felt so much anger to have to vent it so venomously.  The struggles of adolescence...

On to new days, improving health, and better moods.

Camille, hope your day got better.  Good luck at your Dr. Appts this week.

Skittle, what a day you had yesterday!  I hope it was much better today! Your poor little one with (I am assuming) seizures 3 days in a row.  Is he/she off their meds?  Wow seems like the docs need to do something to help him/her.  Does it upset your other students when it happens?  How old was the face smasher? If you combine the agression towards the other student and then what ever she said to/about you  it sounds as it does warrant suspension. So sorry you are having to deal with that.

bgirl, thanks.  Yes, work has been better this week. We are growing very rapidly, with LOTS of changes happening.  The structure is getting more layered.  Staff, Team Leaders then Dept Mgr (very nice, but micro-managing control freak).  I have been successful in staying in my current position and acquiring a very sweet team leader who will be my buffer between me and the Dept Mgr.  They have offered me a team leader position several times and I have very politely declined. I don't want to report to the Dept Mgr and I don't want to be responsible for other people.  I do not need the stress right now. We are moving to a different much larger location March 1st and I am looking forward to that.

Hi Jazzy, Markat and all other hermits!

I saw a cute bumper sticker today.  It said  "WAG MORE bark less"

Wow u guys have had u'r hands full with work.  I'm sure Skittle that suspending someone is not a regular routine, it must be hard on the students with all this confusion. And then it ends up on u too.

Fl u job is thriving, that company sounds like it growing and u got in at the beginning, so stay where u are til u'r more comforable to take a promotion. Sounds smart.

Markat thanks, u must be running all over the place, busy woman. Sounds like a title for another movie.

Hi fellow hermits- I am having one kind of a crazy week at my client site. Up working later tonight than I should be, but going to bed soon. I came home and made an ice creme sundae, took a hot shower, and talked to a friend. All that helped!

I have to leave a week from today for my second internal rad treatment on my other breast and have much to do before I head out. I feel ready to get to part 2 of this process and think getting away from the client site and working remotely will help my sanity.

Wanted to wish you all a nice Valentines Day tomorrow!
