Hi ladies getting in the shower to get to work no school again today!!!! My DD birthday today she is 12. I can't believe it!!!
-
Edi and Traii, you guys are rubbing off on me! It's just after 5am here. I've been awake seen 3:30. Not only am I doing "peas" on the alien, I've got an actual ice pack on the shoulders and now......A BAG OF CORN NIBLETS ON MY BIG TOE!!!!! Sitting here with a cup of hot chocolate cause I'm getting the shivers from all the ice, and the phrase "this is flippin ridiculous" starts going through my head. Hubby got up a few minutes ago to ask why I was laughing, when he saw the corn on my foot, he rolled his eyes, pointed at my foot, and said "don't even think about it"! Then he went back to bed. I can now hear him snoring away, and he hasn't been on the pillow for more than 5 minutes. Somewhere there is an idea for a comedy show in all this crap, don't ya think!
Liefie.....oysters.....just saying.....! Bees Knees sound way to tame for you, girl. I did go out with some friends this weekend to a chinese restaurant, (special buffet cause of chinese new year's) and they had chicken feet......toenails still attached.....what do you think of that!
Bearcub....your hair is gorgeous.....reminds me of Judy Dench, who I think is beautiful. Kids don't lie, if they say you look great, than you do!!! Really amazing though what bc does to our self image and self confidence. The difference between what our minds tell us and what our emotions feel is overwhelming sometimes. No wonder it seems so hard to find our balance again.
Websister, how was the weekend in Canmore? Hope the mountains did their magic on you.
Kheemo, Benny, Caitlin et al, what's up ladies?
-
OOPs......Dakota...Happy Birthday to your daughter. You sure have given her an incredible role model. Teen years around the corner..hang on!
-
Thanks for saying that it means the world to me. I am trying the best I can.

-
Dakota, I'll second Nihahi. You are awesome, and it won't be wasted on those precious children. Congrats on DD's birthday! Like I said earlier, my youngest turned 26 last Friday. I shake my head and wonder how on earth it happened so fast??????
This sleeplessness is definitely contagious. I've been awake on and off since the middle of the night. Then I went to sleep at 6.30 am, and missed my Aquafit class. I will just go to the gym and do a hard workout later.
Nihahi, chicken feet? I don't think so; even I have limits. Maybe if they paint those nails? NOT! The other night the contestants on Chopped got chicken feet to prepare. I was really glad I wasn't one of the judges who had to eat those offerings - ughh.
-
Hey Dakota our daughters share a birthday, my DD is 34 today!..Have a super fun day!!
-
Happy birthday to ur DD too!!!!
-
Edi, did not see your post earlier. It was on the previous page. You had me in stitches with your description of the quick getaway to the loo. So very funny! Like Nihahi says, there is certainly fertile ground for a comedy show here. It is bound to be a smash hit. Thanks for the good wishes on the surgery tomorrow. Afterwards I'm supposed to regularly ice the eye for a few days. Frozen peas should work, don't you think? Lying in bed for 3 days according to dr's orders with frozen peas on my face - hahaha! I just hope the eye won't turn blue. Have to play in church on Sunday, and don't wanna look like I've been in a bar fight. LOL.
Websister, how was your weekend in Canmore?
-
Hi ladies x
Bit on the chilly side here but not too bad.
Ventured out today for the first time in a week, bought new bed, headboard and carpet. All in half an hour !!
DH twitters about I just put foot down and he is thrilled with the choice.
He starts decorating tomorrow at last.
Finished wardrobes and moving stuff while he was at work. Kept phone in bathroom in case of se's starting again but NO. Don't think I could run that fast again lol.Dakota, happy bday to your DD. Did you have a party ?
Nihahi, you are soo funny, you should take a pic of yourself. Trust DH to do the road drill nothing stops them crashing out.
Comedy show, too right !! Used to watch the Golden Girls and we would be like that but with SE's ha ha.Bearcub, I adore Judy Dench and her hair style much admired here, you are the height of fashion.
Have you seen Skyfall ? the latest Bond movie, she is fantastic in it.
Happy bday to your DD too.
Liefie, glad you had some sleep in the end. Shame you missed your class but sleep more needed.
The wee small hours are the worse aren't they ?Traii, are you ok today ? hope you are able to get out and about.
Benny, starting to worry about you !!
Keemo,Bevlee, Caitlin you too, too flippin quiet on here lol.
Love to ALL sisters new and old
-
Edi, I had to laugh at the thought of you hurdling all obstacles in your path in order to get to the loo - but I can certainly relate. Actually, I feel like I'm getting off easy on the SEs so far, but ongoing intestinal unrest and occasional nausea is still annoying.
Congrats on the new bed! We bought one too, weekend before last. Like you, if we'd left it to my DH, we'd have looked at every mattress within a 25 mile radius, but as it was, managed to find one we're both happy with at only second shop we tried.
Back from MUGA test not too long ago and off to physical therapy in a few minutes. Sometimes Iong for a break from all the med appts.
Bearcub, your hair looks beautiful - no need to keep it covered! -
Hi everyone, looks like I'm missing all the good stuff again on this thread (grumble, grumble, grumble). Mucositis is kicking in but good here and am now on Fluconazole for thrush and ulcers (is that what you're on Edi?). Trying to get the Glucerna down again and keep the water going through. This is day 7 and even tho' I'm in pain I have to try and remember the good stuff, so here's my list:
- I'm not in the hospital (always a plus!)
- I have 5 flats of water, 3 bags of potatoes, and 4 6-paks of Glucerna, thanks to some incredible friends
- I have found that regular soaks of saline spray in my nose relieves some of the discomfort in my nose and at the back of my very raw throat. Just lie on the bed with head hanging over the side and pour the stuff in, then let it soak for about 30 seconds.
- my new humidifier is doing a fine job of keeping the house humid
- I actually got about 4 hours of sleep last night!
- It's not snowing out, in fact, it's quite nice and is expected to stay that way
- I'm not in the hospital (that one gets credit twice!
)
Okay, I know I'm negligent here in my reading but will be back. Going to try and get another Glucerna down.
Big hug to everyone ((((((( ♥ )))))))
Bearcub, love the new profile pic!!!
-
There is no way I will be able to comment on all the activity from the last few days. Canmore was wonderful, weather was perfect, scenery spectacular - so nice to be able to get away for a couple of days.
Edi/Traii - hope you will be feeling better now that you will have a bit of a break before the next chemo.
Edi - wondering if the Diarrhea Dash will be the next dance craze

Dakota/Bearcub - Happy Birthday to your DD's
Nihahi - defrosting peas, now corn - what's next? Hope all the aches and injuries are better soon
Bearcub - I agree with everyone about your hair, it is coming in beautifully. I hope mine will be there soon, when I see yours I can't wait.
Liefie - I agree with everyone regarding your DH and the birthday - I thought of The Gift of the Magi also when I read it. So good to hear that all went well.
Benny - good to hear from you. Did I mention that I'm thankful that you were not writing from the hospital ;)I'm glad you have supplies in and that you have the Flucanozole. Chug that Glucerna

For some reason I am feeling very tired the last couple of days. I had my CT Sim in preparation for my radiation yesterday afternoon so I am now tattooed and ready. They think I should start sometime next week but I am waiting for a phone call from the booking people. Thursday I am taking a Return to Work course that goes over 8 Thursday afternoons, following that I have my Herceptin infusion again.
My car was hit while I was stopped at a stoplight this afternoon - I've just finished getting that all sorted out, now it would seem no energy for the rest of the evening.
Liefie - in your pockets for your tear duct surgery tomorrow
I know this is quite disjointed, my apologies
Take care, everyone
-
Websister, so sorry to hear about the car smash. Hope you and others are ok! Fatigue is a clever little companion, sneaks up when we lest expect it sometimes. You are a busy, busy lady, hope you take advantage of some "downtime" when it presents itself.
-
Edi, I'm all good lovely, just had a very busy morning with kindy drop off, paying bills, bit of shopping with mum then home to bath DS to get all that paint off his legs and arms....lol was cute though him being so colourful, today he told me that 'he likes kindy and he is a big boy now and didn't cry'!!
Sounds like when you do go out, you're on a 'expensive' shopping spree, no wonder you've been home cleaning lately...lol.....hope your all good and going to bingo tonight ??
Dakota/ Liefie hope your DD's celebration was great.
Caitlin, hope your physical appt was good and you are at home relaxing - just got to love all the medical appts, this week i'm a FREE women, next week one appt then the following back on chemo and have 3 appts....yeh me!
Websister, I've got my tattoo marks ( warrior marks) from 16 years ago still......now I have my son's name tattooed on my foot....maybe you will get a 'bigger' tattoo next....lol. Glad you are all prepared to start radiation. It does tend to make you tired too, so get as much rest as you can, sounds like your time away was magical.... So sorry to hear that someone ran up the back of your car this morning, its more of a headache with not having a car while getting repaired because of someone that wasn't concentrating on the road...happened to me a few years back...ended up being a young driver that was changing her cd i saw it happening...i'm thinking brake brake but nope i even closed my eyes...lol!
Benny, good to hear from you and you are as well as can be I guess, no hospital is always a bonus you go girl

Nihahi, darling.....how is your poor big toe ? did the corn do its work ? hows your alien, peas having a rest today or are they out to play ?
Well Mum called me earlier to tell me it's Ash Wednesday today so no meat. Luckily ducked down to the shops and bought some prawns...so Garlic prawns on a bed of rice with veggies for us tonight, arghhh quick and easy got to love that ! just heard hubbys car come home....off the computer for a bit, he already thinks my boyfriend is my computer...lol....I'm totally devoted ( to my computer, lol) x
-
Hi Sisters, Feel sooo much better today
tummy quiet, mouth healed and can drink HOT tea again. Two week break from treatments yay.
DH starting decorating today so on tea and biccies duty all day, tomorrow my darling baby bro coming to help me put the tons of videos of my GD's on to disc. He is an IT genius as he started computer stuff straight from school. He is nearly 60 so has a big head start on his Sister.
Friday my son and family coming for visit from Manchester, eldest GD is bringing her guitar to play too Grandpa.
Saturday baby girls 37th so lunch out, so glad I will be able to join in now.
Last night DH said hair growing a bit, think he is right !!Benny, Nice to hear from you. Please tell me your diet consists of something more than Glucerna and potatoes ? You will never put any weight back on with this. Glucerna I know contains some protein 30 percent and some vitamins but is used here in weight loss for diabetics. Potatoes I know you can swallow mash but surely liquidised veggie stuff will build you up more. ?
I am on Amoxicillin for a week for mouth, and it is clear today. Difflam spray which soothes the soreness. Doc also gave me Omeprazole tablets which can be taken twice a day to ease burning in tum.
Saline sounds good for nose. Going to start saline rinse as soon as next cmf starts to hopefully stop mouth soreness next time.
Glad weather improving, hope you can get out a little just don't knock yourself out.xWebsister, Glad you had a lovely trip, you deserve it.
Got two week break from that dance lol.
Waiting on app for my tat they want to overlap last chemo in April with rads don't think I will be full of energy then somehow either. You just rest and get your strength back.
Sorry to hear of the car incident, just what you need right now, Had same thing myself two years ago, stupid man wrote off my gorgeous little car and as he got out of his car he said " Oh not again " seems not the first time he had done it. Grrrr.
Nihahi, Hope all your bits chilled ?Traii, glad you are ok chick, DS covered in paint brings back such memories of GD's coming out of Nursery like that. Glad he is settled and likes it.
Know spending gone a bit wild but we have been sooooo careful for soooo long and think all this has made DH realise you can't take it with you so hence house revamp lol.
DH thinks my netbook is my life too, get up early to check here and f/b then when hear him walking about upstairs, switch it off and stick it behind a cushion lol.
We had pancake day yesterday, the run down to Ash Wed ( today ) and lent. Had FOUR pancakes with lemon and sweetner. DH was tickled as I don't eat half as much as I did but I really enjoyed them. Yum.
May not do Bingo as when I just opened curtains SNOW falling !! If it continues i am staying warm and cosy>
love to everyone< will check in tonight xxx -
Edi, I was on the Omeprazole when I had stomach ulcers, and let me tell you that is a miracle drug! It took a couple of days to kick in, but then the pain was totally gone, like magic. Good stuff!
2 weeks PFC for me and still working through the various SEs but it makes all the difference knowing it's the last time. Did any of you get a lot of fluid retention in the legs & feet? They are blown up like a balloon. Crazy stuff. This too shall pass.......
Will meet with the RO in 2 more weeks, not looking forward to this rads stuff (we live far enough away that going there every day is going to be a real pain) but we gotta do what we gotta do, right?
Benny, you are in my prayers every day. You are an amazing strong woman! I'm astounded that they talked you into one more chemo. You are braver than I am for sure! I pray it will go better for you this time and no hospital!!!
-
Edi, you make me laugh, you hide the notebook behind the cushion , and I , under the couch.....or I quickly put it on an activity for DS.....lol ..... we aren't cheeky are we! lol
Yehh...your hair coming back....:) 2 weeks a free women like me,no chemo woot woot

Glad you are feeling so much better ..... yeh, you can enjoy dinner and taste it and have hot tea when you go out for DD b'day ..... oh snow falling
no bingo
....so true what your DH says about not being able to take the money with yous!! We actually brought an investment property that only just started being built about 4 weeks ago...DH wanted to pull out of the contract because 'life is too short' but I insisted we keep it and that is our little mans investment for the future.
Sounds like fun times ahead for you with your brother visiting, DH doing renovations and party time.....too cute, your DG playing the guitar for grandpa

Well in todays duties Mrs Edi, I hope you will be serving your DH bickies and tea in your little waitress outfit !!

I made pancakes today for dessert , strawberries and icecream with some maple syrup, oh so naughty, but oh so nice...lol
missed out yesterday so thought, well why not today!Jennie, I think I have fat retention everywhere, lol....in all seriousness, I don't have fluid retention in the feet only my lymphodema arm damn it....one side looks really fat and the other looks normal !
-
Jennie, totally agree on the 0meprazole, stopped the burning fizzing feeling very quickly.
Sorry you have discomfort with swelling
very uncomfy, sure someone else had this the other day on here, maybe Caitlin or Carla ? could be wrong if you put their names under search in the menu you will get their most recent posts.
Was that your last Chemo for good before Rads ? If so Congratulations !! Pain having long journey to these every day, hope weather ok where you are.
I have three more, as CMF is done over two weeks my DH keeps saying SIX more I so want to smack him then
he means well but makes it seem for ever. -

Wow, busy thread this morning....Sounds like we are all tightly connected to each other. Turning on the computer is THE first thing I do every morning! Come out of the bedroom, pass the desk where the computer is, switch it on, pour a cup of coffee, and by that time, the screen is up and ready to go!
Dakota... I think bikkies are cookies, if my British friends use the word in the same way. Can we come to the party tomorrow too? Chocolate cupcakes for me please...and none of those lowfat things! Celebration time, COME ON! Sing it ladies!!!
Can't go through everyone this morning...bit of a rush this morning. A couple friends, my daughter and I are going on a snowy owl hunt (cameras only! no worries). If we have any luck, I'll try to post some photos tonight.
Hope everyone rests up when possible, feels better if they need to, and gets closer to putting all the tx,se's in the past.
((((((X)))))))

Hi Ladies,
Wow a lot of post..
First Liefie, I just want to say wonderful husband!!! Good luck today, you know we are with you.
Edi, so glad you are doing better.. My taste is back a little but I will get hit again next week..
Jennie, yes!!! Not so much my feet but my hands are so swollen, and my calves.. My first treatment I was only swollen the first few days, but this time it has lasted. I have to take my rings off, I'm afraid they will get stuck. I am drinking water, doesn't seem to help much.
Websister, so sorry about you car.. hope mom is still doing good.
Nihahi, I am off to yoga again this morning, tomorrow I am going to start weights again, I need to build up the strength back in my arms. You know I have plenty of pea's for you.
Caitlin, Hope you are still doing well.
Benny, so glad you are doing better keep us posted.
Bearcub, I love the hair!
46andsingle, thinking about you and I hope you are doing ok.
Dakota, Traii, Luvmy, Keemo, Scottiee, Bevlee, Lesleyann, have a good day!
Love you all,
Carla
-
Dakota, nihahi is correct biccies are cookies or biscuits as we know them.Just taken up a plate of them and coffee for DH who is bashing on good style. Whole lot shot off plate and broke up on the floor, oops
With you tomorrow
sooo happy for you. Make mine a sugar free cupcake please.xNihahi, looking forward to snowy owl pics. Was going to take pics of my beautiful snowcoated garden. It has rained and all melted. lol x
-
Oh Websister, that is so awful and so unfair about the car incident! Hopefully they'll get it done quickly for you. I do have an extra car if you need it. It's all insured and in fine shape and ready to drive if you need a car. It is a sports car tho', four on the floor, can you drive stick shift? It's just sitting in front of the house (I drive my truck) so it's yours for as long as you need it, if you want. Try to remember how busy you have been and keep the fatigue in perspective. You have been flying like a butterfly all over the place so it's no wonder you're a bit fatigued. Stress from the accident probably doesn't help either.
Edi, that omeprazole has been a saviour for me. I've been on that since chemo one, two pills a day, and still have breakthrough acid. I can't imagine what I would have been like without it. I suspect i would have been full of acid holes LOL I am living off Glucerna and mashed potatoes but am going to try some rice and carrots today as I am getting weaker and hit the 117 pound mark this morning (gulp). I wish i could astrol project myself to your guitar wing-ding with eldest GD and DH. That would be fun!
Jennie, I can't believe they talked me into another chemo either. He has stated that this is my last one, and when I called the chemo care centre about the thrush growing out of control, she said "Oh, you're finished all your chemos, congratulations!" so he's obviously entered it into the system. Good thing cuz I wouldn't do another one anyway. I AM DONE.
Nihahi, we have two snowy owls living out at the farm this winter. My gosh they are strikingly beautiful but I never have my camera when they make an appearance. One frequently sits on the post of a ranch every day and the other sits right on the snow on an acreage, probably watching for mice. They look small until they spread their wings, then I realize how big and majestic they are.
The TMI section >>>>>> Ugh, 3 Colace and 3 senna tablets and I'm still..... waiting. How i wish i could eat bickies and tea. You'd think all those peas would have an effect but no.
Okay, have to get another Glucerna down then make some rice. How long before hair starts to grow? How long before fatigue starts to lift? Am I being impatient by even asking these questions? LOL The number one criteria for healing for me will be when I can mount my horse from the ground the way God intended, without a mounting block. That will be a happy day.
-
Benny - u sound great !!!
-
Benny, you DO sound great.
Now just need to get some flesh back on those bones.Surely you can tolerate grated veggie cheese maybe in that mash, mixed in for flavour ? Pulses ie lentils are also easy to make soup with. Bickies I can only eat when dunked in tea or they are too hard.Get some of that lovely porridge Websister gave you, you did say you enjoyed it ,without mine in the morning I cant get motivated.Fuel that engine or you will NEVER get that energy back. ( nagging over )
Wish you could teleport, will try and send you a pic of the jamming session. So far three of four GD's are guitar players the fourth is keyboard player. Perhaps there is a new group on the way lol.
So glad you are finished with chemo.
before you know it you will be leaping onto Di and riding off into the sunset. It has been awful for you but you hung on in there and we are all so proud of you.
Hair starts back quite quickly I believe.Dakota, climbing into that pocket tomorrow with my tea and biccies to dunk lol.
-
Edi-
Plenty of room especially when it's time to have a party:) -
Dakota - congrats on the final taxol coming up - hope all goes well. Have you had much neuropathy? Just wondering if you take the neulasta shot in between taxol treatments?
I am getting taxol#3 this Saturday and I am scared because last time I got an allergic reaction to it which was petrifying. I cannot wait until this journey is over - getting sick and tired of it.
-
Adagio-
Sorry about ur reaction. I have been so blessed that I feel so good. I do the neulasta, my onc told me I didn't have to cuz my counts were so good but I already had it at home so he said it was ok. I didn't get really any neuropathy. Hopefully I didn't just jinks myself
good luck Saturday
-
Dakota - ready to celebrate with you tomorrow! Don't tell Scottie but make my cupcake full sugar and lots of fluffy pink icing
Congratulations, you have been incredible throughout your chemo
Edi - wondering if the snow continued or if you were able to get out to bingo after all?
Nihahi - hope your hunting was productive - looking forward to seeing some beautiful pictures
Adagio - they will be extra careful with you this time since you reacted last time, they'll give you meds to prevent reaction and they will slow down the infusion and watch you very carefully throughout - don't be afraid to mention anything you are feeling that doesn't seem quite right - better safe
Carlads - Taxotere effects tend to be cumulative, hope the fluid retention resolves soon. Good for you for the yoga and strength training
. Mom is mom, she seems to be adjusting OK but doesn't socialize with the other residents much then tells me she's lonely. I am trying to encourage her to get out of her room more as I can't be going there every day.
Benny - that was so sweet of you to offer your car, I was really tempted when I read that it was a sports car. Fortunately the insurance company has waived the deductible as it wasn't my fault and they are supplying the rental car, my husband got a call from the rental company this afternoon. It all seems to be falling into place quite well.
The oatmeal I used was steel cut, Costco has a nice big 5 kg box for 9.99. It takes longer to cook but it has more protein. I add apples to the water and then when water boils add the oatmeal and a little cinnamon and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring fairly frequently.
Liefie - I see from the Survivors thread that you are home after your eye surgery. Good to see, take good care.
I got the call today that I start radiation on Feb. 21st
Take care everyone -
Hi everybody,
Thank you so much for all the good wishes, and for being in my pockets today. There's no way I can respond to all the posts. Just want to say to Dakota YAAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!! It's over, and I am so happy for you! Websister, glad you had a wonderful weekend - you deserved it. Upset to hear about the accident, but just grateful you are okay. That chemo fatique takes its own time to go away. It took four months PFC before I had the energy to do any form of exercise. Take it slowly, and be kind to yourself. It is just amazing to me what you accomplish every day.
Came home from Victoria an hour ago. Eye surgery went well, and I am fine. Sitting here with an eyepatch on my left eye like Capt. Jack Sparrow, and a Kleenex stuffed up the left nostril, because there's still some bleeding now and then. What a lovely sight! I now know exactly what it feels like to be an elephant with a trunk - LOL. Typing and reading is a bit hard with one eye, and my reading glasses won't fit over the patch, so I will say good bye, and be back here tomorrow. Have a good night everybody, and take care. I love you all!
