Becoming pregnant after breastcancer

I am a 40 year old lesbian who is a year and a half out of treatment for breastcancer. I was treated with Taxol and suffered numerous side effects that have had an impact on my day to day living. My partner and I have been talking about having a baby. I discussed this with my oncologist and he's told me that it would take an incredible amount of courage for me to even try to concieve and carry to term. If I were able to become pregnant, I would have to come off of all my meds so that they wouldn't impact the baby. He's not even sure if I can become pregnant, he's done bloodwork to check my hormone levels and I'm waiting on results from that.  My cancer was high risk, and I'm still considered high risk for developing another cancer. He's told me that becoming pregnant would increase that risk.

I know there has to be another woman out there who has gone through this or something similar. I was looking for some thoughts or ideas from someone else who kinda knows what I'm feeling.
