The Healing Power of Food

Hi everyone. Well, when I was diagnosed with IBC nnn, I bought a book called How to Combat Cancer by Maggie Greenwood. It's intended for people without cancer who want to prevent it, but it was quite an eye opener for me! I thought I was eating well as compared to my mother's generation...no deep fried foods at home, fruit and veggies on the light side. But, she really opened my eyes to the real healing power of food. So, I use that as part of my healing process. I also liked that she wasn't trying to turn you into a vegan or a microbiotic person. She just leaves you with this incredible sense of the power of fruits and vegetables on our cells. She even references university studies on certain vitamins and their coorelation to stopping cancer and even reverting cancerous cells to normal! I am also reading Natural Cures by Kevin Trudeau which is much more extreme than Greenwood's book. I wouldn't start with his book. He pushes on organic and explains why. It's interesting. I feel food is an important part of my healing. What about you? Found a cereal that packs 12 essential vitamins called: Total 100. Read that pomegranate juice is great for IBC'er? Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on nutrition as you battle the big ibc with me.

I don't believe you can affect IBC by diet, but you can certainly support your body through so many other ways with nutrition so that you're strong for treatments and their side-effects. ( I do really believe exercise effects it though.)

I was told to eat normally during chemo...mostly, worry about the protein and no super-juicing or anything.  Any super nutrients will encourage and feed your cancer, which will swipe it up before your body can (because IBC cancer cells are fast, fast, fast).  This explanation made clinical sense to me, and I did have a complete response to chemo (no detectable cancer after chemo).  That's a very good result to have for IBC, so I'm inclined to think I got some good advice about nutrition whether it helped or not.  After you're well and recovered from chemo is a great time to pursue healthy plant-based diets with liberal use of those superfoods like blueberries and strawberries!

And now and again, drink a fair amount of wine and eat some sea salt chocolate after chemo course is done, hahah....joy and laughter do just as much good as nutrition, perhaps.
