vaginal bleeding on tamoxifen

I had lumpectomy in May 2012 followed by radiation. I have been on Tamoxifen for 6 months.  I have recently developed vaginal bleeding.  I have been bleeding for about 4 weeks, it is mostly moderate bleeding which increases and decreases every few days.  Sometime it is more spotty and dark and at other times heavies and brighter.  I am 53 and was still having regular periods up until beginning tamoxifen.

Is this something others have experienced.  Studies mostly focus on increased vaginal bleeding after longer term therapy and/or after completion of therapy.

Any thoughts or expereinces

I went through this recently. I started Tamoxifen at 53 & had regular periods prior. I had an ultrasound & it showed a thickened lining. Then, a uterine biopsy which was negative. Then I had a hydosonogram which confirmed polyps. Last & finally, I had a D&C/polypectomy-everything still benign. I had minimal discomfort with the above procedures. The D&C/polypectomy was under anesthsia.

It does seem they don't always know what to do with those of us who are perimenopausal. If you have a GYN that you like, make an appt. Or try a new one...that's what I did.

I have been on Tamoxfen for 9 months.  I have had vaginal bleeding for 12 weeks.  Sometimes very heavy, numerous large clots.  Ultrasound, thickening of uterine walls, biopsy negative, no hyperplasia.  No other pathology that I know about.

How long can this go on?  Anyone else with bleeding this long?

clevy-I had bleeding for 6 months. Then had a D&C/polypectomy. The bleeding stoped for 2months only to return. At least it's not all the time, right now, any way.
