Lymph node seen on mammogram

I had dx of LCIS 5 years ago, clear mamo's except for this past Monday where it showed a large lymph node along side a calcification that I have never had before.  I don't see my BS till Tuesday and the wait is driving me crazy.  The only thing the tech said was they would probably see me in 6 months for a repeat mamo to see if the area had changed.  Any thoughts?

Thanks

Peggy

Lymph nodes can be enlarged for many benign reasons (infection is just one) and size is only one attribute that would be considered when deciding whether or not to suggest a biopsy. Other factors that would be weighed are shape, orientation to the surrounding fat, borders, absence or presence of a fatty hylum, blood flow on color Doppler ultrasound, etc. Maybe an ultrasound would give you a non-invasive way to get more information.

I had a creepy, enlarged lymph node a few months ago that came up on a breast MRI--I had an ultrasound and fine needle biopsy--very easy, and it came out B9--they told me that sometimes, lymph nodes just act like that for no reason. Best wishes to you.
