A few events to look forward to and begin planning for, both in the States and in Canada.

First, the Lymphedema Association of Ontario is planning a two-day conference October 25 and 26, 2013, co-sponsored by the Canadian Lymphedema Framework Project. It will be at the Toronto Airport Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center. I don't know the program details, but they do attract good speakers. Mark your calendars now, and keep an eye on their website for further information.

The Lighthouse Lymphedema Network will have their annual LE awareness and education conference at the Marcus Nanotechnology Research Center at Georgia Tech on Saturday, October 12, co-sponsored this year by Georgia Tech. The subject will be "Emerging Technologies of Lymphatic Research"
Speakers include:
Brandon Dixon, PhD
David Zawieja, PhD
Stanley Rockson, MD
Stephanie Kirkpatrick, DPT, CLT-LANA
and PhD student at GA Tech who are doing lymphatic research
plus patients/founders Melanie Chaite of the Lymphatic Research Foundation and Joan White of the Lighthouse Network
Registration information will be available after March 1 on the Lighthouse LE Network site:
http://www.lighthouselymphedema.org

For anyone in the Augusta, GA area, there is a new LE face-to-face support group just starting. Find out more at the Lighthouse website.

Lots of great opportunities here--if you attend please let us know what you discover!
Be well,
Binney

Have you thought about the shedding though. grrr. Can your arm take the vaccuming of all that pet hair. Sorry hi-jacked the thread. I will just pretend this is the pet thread.

Corgi cross it is! Arrives in about two weeks. High energy, cute as a button. Her name is Penny, and our daughter decided to call her Angel PennySmile. She whose dog this will be shall wield the vacuum!Laughing Likewise the brushing. LE is good for something, right?Wink

Hey Binney--I just read an article where a woman got a miniature horse as a "guide dog" as they live longer than dogs--30 years.  How about adding a horse to your menagerie?

Forgot to add...I will be attending the LLN conference in Atlanta.  Would love to meet some other fellow LEers there.  I went last October and it was great!

Becky, I've thought about it! Recent ADA rulings changed the law so that only dogs and miniature horses qualify as assistance animals, leaving out such exotics as iguanas, ravens, snakes and tarantulas, all of which people have claimed were their service animalsSurprised. The mini-horses are sure cute, but they cause way more unwanted challenges to access than I'm prepared to deal with!Wink

It's great that you'll be attending the Lighthouse conference--take good notes, please!
