Back home safe and sound, but really tired. Snowshoeing 8.5 km on 4 hours sleep is tough, but it was such a wonderful day! Before I post the photos, I'd like to ask: EXACTLY HOW DID I BECOME THE TROUBLEMAKER ON THE SUBJECT OF BALLS????? But as long as the topic has been mentioned again....Welcome Kheemo, and we all want to know....exactly where do you stand on the subject of mooseballs.....yeah or nay:)

Hope everyone has a lovely sleep tonight, minimal SE's, and wake up with energy and happy thoughts. Love you all and I was thinking of everyone today. Hope you all felt the love and healing vibes!

    Leaving home this morning

    Starting up the trail

    Arriving at the lake

    Looking up the lake

    Zoom photo of Robertson Glacier

As close as we're going to the toe of the glacier, avalanche risk too high to continue

Turning around to head back after lunch

    the way home...

    So...that was my day. ((((((((x))))))))

Nihahi those are beautiful pics and I feel guilty for sitting on my butt today. Thank you for sharing.

Traii I love the original parent trap with Hayley Mills, went with my mom when I was young to see it, and wished I had a long lost twin sister.....nope went home to 3 brothers!..like the one with Lindsay Lohan too.

    Bevlee hope you feel okay.

    Carlads hope headaches subside

Dakota, how do you do it!!..have a good sleep!

Keemo - you are welcome here and anywhere on this site!  Thank you so much for the encouragement!  When we are in the midst of all this awful stuff, it sometimes feels like there is no end in sight.  It really, really helps to have someone pop in and say "I got through it, you really will feel good again, honest!"    :-)

nihahi - oh, what gorgeous scenery!  Thanks for those lovely photos!   :-)

benny - in my thoughts and prayers every day, hope you are back online to update us very soon!!!!

jmevans....We have all been there. The waiting to "get started' IS  the hardest part. Your emotions and your thoughts just go warp speed on you, and you feel like there is no one at the steering wheel. All the ladies here will take you into their heart and you will find courage you never thought you had. I am a +20 year survivor, had a mastectomy, chemo, several implants, and am waiting for a final type of reconstruction that wasn't even possible "back in the day". Treatment has progressed so far, they now have many weapons to help you fight this. You may find yourself going on several different threads on this site. I have too, and I still go to a couple threads specific to the surgery I am waiting for, to get answers to specific questions, mainly. But the contact with the awesome ladies here is the most comforting, hilarious, supportive, and "life goes on" connection I have ever found. That seems impossible now, I have no doubt, but if you read through some of the back posts you will truly realize that cancer does not have to be "all there is". Although we certainly have lots of issues and comments about cancer, treatments, side effects, reconstruction, emotional down days, fear, etc. there is a common thread of "wait until I tell you what happened today....". To me, that is what the cancer journey is all about, dealing with it, but also finding ways to live a normal life, on a daily basis. You will find great info here, you will get details about cancer treatment that you need and want, but MOST importantly, you will get back your belief that you have a future waiting for you, that will bring you happiness and peace.

Sending you love and hugs. (((((((x))))))).

    Good morning!

Nihahi - awesome and inspiring pictures! I'm going on a trail ride this am so I'll try to get some good shots for Benny!  What the heck is a mooseball? I'll google it! :)

Jennie93 - Super glad I can offer a little light... I was in the thick of it not so long ago and I remember feeling so grateful when someone would come up to me and let me know that they had been through it and were living happy and healthy. Just keep your eye on the prize, I would tell myself.

Hope everyone has a peaceful day and Go Niners!!!! HAHAHA

Jmevans welcome and so sorry you have to be here. It is very scary starting down this road. The anxiety can be overwhelming. We have all been exactly in your shoes and know how you feel. I was in that position back in June and here I am in Feb, surgery done, made it through chemo and radiation, and yes starting to grow my hair back. You can do this we will be in your pockets tomorrow for your doc appt. and will help you through all this. Remember to take some one with you tomorrow and tell them their job is to take notes....because it is hard to remember anything in a doctors office. Write any questions down you may have. If they allow you to record the session even better but ask first. Also ask the doctor for copies of any tests you have had done to date and continue to get copies throughout your treatment. Keep them in your file.

Take a deep breath, you can do this you are a warrior!!

    Take care, Carrie

Bearcub...no need for the guilties...aren't you dealing with a "drippy cold"? The reason I am so diligent about walking and exercise is so that I can do things I love and NEED to do, which is to spend time in the mountains with friends.

Bev and Traii...hope the heat eases up on you both a bit. But it is summer for you, so jump in the pool or walk to the beach, many of us are very jealous of where you live!

Edi, "how many men does it take to..." comes to mind! Bet that shed will now last longer than all of us combined!

Dakota, I honestly have no idea how you fit so much into one day! But you know, it's ok every now and then to have a "Dakota comes first" day too!

Carla...headache any better? Sure hope so. Peas, who knew how important they would be to us!!!

Benny...I saw lots of horses in the fields driving out yesterday, thought of you and Diamond...you'll be riding the trails this summer for sure.

It's time for a second cup of coffee, so have a wonderful day ladies. (NO....I am NOT putting kahlua in my cup today....but ya know...it sure was good.....hmmm.....when's the next pocket party???....oh right, tomorrow for jm....who's in charge of the party tomorrow?)

Keemo.....now giggling so hard I had to set my coffe cup down....googling mooseballs......hehehe. Can't imagine, actually, yes I can...hehehe. You'll have to go back a few pages on this thread to find the real answer!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA

Nihahi good morning, yes my nose is still a bit drippy but I think I am turning a corner and may be on the upside of the cold. I still managed to do my stationary bike for 30 min. most days. We have had several nice days with a big melt but as I look outside this morning it is snowing like crazy..you are inspiring me to possibly give snowshoeing a try.

    Have a great day!

jmevans - We all really get where you are right now and it is truly the worst part of all of this imho. Once you and your dr. put a plan together and you are an active participant in your journey, it might not be all roses and butterflies but at least you are moving forward. Someone on this thread says "keep on keeping on". I think that is a perfect mantra. You can get through this... xoxoxoxo

Okay - for the rest of you - YUCK on the mooseballs. Although I did find a peanut butter, cookie-like thing that sounded okay. :)

Keemo - About mooseballs - I think it was Liefie making meatballs with moose meat given to her husband.  I "misunderstood" and thought for a moment they were eating the dangly parts of a moose.  Which led to a fun discussion of all the parts of meat families ate years ago.  I personally have never (not that I know of) eaten or even seen on a plate any male dangly parts.

Edi - bet the 2 of them actually had a good time rebuilding the shed.

Dakota - 2nd Nihahi on the how do you have the energy question.  Take some "Dakota Time", OK???

Traii - Thinking snowy, cool thoughts for you.

Bevlee - same cool thoughts for you.

jmevans - will be in your pocket tomorrow. Is tomorrow oncologist or surgeon appt?  As others have said as you build your team your confidence in decisions will grow. Feel free to join in this crazy bunch.  From all over, England, Canada, USA, Australia, where else ladies have I missed.

Bearcub - Hope the cold is on the waning side. Knock on wood have not had one this year even when DH had one.

Nihahi - your energy ain't too shabby girl.  Loved the trail pics while nice and warm here at home.  Made it to Sunday School but skipped out on church and went to grocery.

Websister - hope your son is on the recovering side of wisdom teeth extraction.

Carla - How is the headache going today?  Better I hope.

Know I have missed several. Apologies. I have trouble keeping up between chores, cooking, dog messing on the floor!!!!, goaties. Everyone have a restful Sunday.

    Prayers for Benny.

Hey yougirls, ok don't laugh, heaven alone knows what I have hit to get this ? Can't get rid Cry so will continue.
I spend the day at a baby shower and you all natter away, pad is full of notes so hope I cover everything.

Bevlee, hope se's not too bad and things cool down soon in Aus.

Carla, do hope headache eases soon, if not sure peas will be a help.

Liefie, Those mooseballs still make me giggle. That is so what we need on here.

Traii, glad you got to party, shame it was so hot. Did DS behave ?

Nihahi, Pics were stunning, understanded why you want to get out there. The roof needed two of them honest, so windy one needed to hold down felt while the other bashed in the nails. They call themselves Shed Men now lol.

bearcub, hope snow not too deep. All gone here thank goodness,

Luvmy, the lads did have such fun and have spent today talking about going into business. They worked so well together.

Websister, Hope Mum settled? and your son's mouth much better.

Jennie ,you are right we all need to hear stories of how things will be in the future. Can't wait to be one of the people posting how one day it will all be a distant memory because I am out the other side.

Scottie, all the excercise talk makes me feel sooo guilty but still don't get up and do any. Running out of excuses. ED is running in a few weeks for BC research so really feel bad when I hear how hard she is training.

Jmeevans, Welcome, in your pocket tomorrow. onwards and upwards. you can do it.

Kim, Googling mooseballs ? bet that was a fun packed experience lol.

    Dakota, hope you now relaxing.

I am now utterly pooped ! Why do women at baby showers feel the need to go on about the pain of childbirth, sleepless nights, and how the next eighteen years are hell ? Poor girl looked as if she wished she could turn the clock back.To top the lot during a pin the dummy on the baby game Edi removes the blindfold and off flies the flipping wig, mortified lol
    night all xx

Edi, you have just made me LAUGH OUT LOUD at work.....you poor darling.... I'm picturing you pulling your blind fold off and the wig comes off with it...... it happened to me trying on a top, only glad I was in the change rooms at the shops when it did happen.....

DS did behave at the party, he was running around so much it had looked as though he just got out of a shower.... needless to say the minute we got home I put him in the bath to relax a little and of course he didn't sleep still until late last night.....arghhhh.!

Dakota, hope you had a great sleep and enjoyable day at Hockey x

Bearcub, lol re parent trap and you going home to 3 brothers, I have one brother....I'm his brother that he never had and he's the sister I never had...we have always been close and still are today, not a day goes by even before my BC diagnosis that he would always call me even to say 'hi, what ya doin?  ok gotta go bye'...lol.....we are 5 and a half years apart.

Last night The Holiday was on with Cameron Diaz, glad DH went to bed so I could watch it in peace..he's not into the 'romantic' movies.....though I have to admit , I can't wait for Fast and Furious 6 to come out here! I'm a little of a speed freak.....!!

jmevans44- welcome, good luck for your appt with your doctor. Hope you have someone that's coming along with you for a second pair of ears as sometimes sitting with the onc can seem all blah blah blah and then when you get home you want to kick yourself for not listening or taking notes!

Carlads, hows it all going hun ?

Keemo26, lol googling mooseballs and came up with a peanut butter cookie thing recipe....! I'm not even game enough to google balls let alone moose ones... lol !

Nihahi, hope you have an good sleep after all your adventures yesterday! Not too hot here today, suppose to warm up again on Wednesday.....great my chemo day !

All you ladies, have a great day. better get some work done at work!

I truly LOVE that you all got a good chuckle over my moose balls ignorance. I went to a super bowl party tonight (yes, it is still going on but I came home early to be with my partner who is sick and couldn't come with me). They had meatballs in a crock pot and I laughed when I saw them. Someone brough elk stew and I thought I should get you gals the recipe! Nice to think about all of you. defintely made me smile

AND Benny!!!!!!  I had a crazy-ass trail ride today with some lady who claims to be a trainer. Oy vey! It was a total disaster!!!!! At least my horse was a rock star. I forgot to take pictures of my girl but will do so next time I see her. Her name is Shiny and she is amazing! I do want to change her name - just got her about a month ago. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open. I want her name to represent her personality - she is brave, fearless, a leader, calm, benevolent, honest...

Hope everyone has a great evening. I'm watching the 49ers as I type. Much better 2nd half.

Hey Keemo....you're one of us now, I can tell. I can just picture your face when you spotted the m....balls in the crockpot. I would have ended up under the table laughing. This thread has helped me finally understand the philosophy of "laughter is the best medicine"!

Ok, I was going to post this on another thread I also visit that is specific to the surgery I'm waiting for. But I'm not really sure they'd get it, and I have no doubts that you guys will! So the background info is on this thread there's lots of questions and anxiety about prepping the house, the surgery, the recovery, life after....etc., etc. My mind (and we all now understand what kind of mind I have), suddenly flashes to Edi's day at a baby shower, and jumbles all that image with the topics on the surgery thread......and EUREKA!!!!!!! I now completely understand what's going on! Those of us with upcoming recon surgery are doing the nesting, educating, worrying thing, just like expectant mothers do, but instead of bringing home a new baby, we are going to bring home a new BOOBY! Seriously....think of the similarities!!!! There will be pain, we'll feel sleep deprived, we'll have to do unfamiliar "dressings", things may leak for awhile, there will likely be some "tweaking", we'll wonder why we ever thought this was a good idea, only time will tell how things will turn out, but some day, down the road, we'll be happy we did it!

Ok, so I'm done for today. Angels in the pockets for everyone who needs them tomorrow, and I'll be there too!

Edi I can't help it but had I been at the shower I would have said, 12 hours labor, ha that's nothing compared to the 18 years hard labor ahead of you......sorry I know they are worth it but I am now a empty nester and love it!....I also love the 3 kids and 8 grand kids I have.

Edi I laughed out loud at the wig coming off too!..I bet you handled it in style!

Keemo I think I can't help myself I now have to google moose balls!........horses name....you might want to stick to a name that starts with sh......I will suggest Shandy, that was my horses name, she has been gone now for about 10 years.....I don't know what it means but she was definitely a warrior!...good luck and happy riding!

Traii that sounds like a beautiful relationship you have with your brother. My oldest brother passed away 20 years ago, my next brother...mental illness, who refuses medication, I do have a good relationship with my younger brother but we live 6 hours apart. We don't see each other as much as we would like to.

Nihahi, Carlads, Liefie, Bevlee, and everyone I might have not mentioned you are in my prayers...have a wonderful week

Dear Benny I pray you are well xxx

    Hi everybody,

It's Sunday night here, we just came home from the weekend in Alberta, and I was anxious to see if Benny had posted. No word yet, and I'm hoping she is okay. Maybe we'll hear from her soon.

A warm welcome to the new people here. This is the place to come for fun, and to meet amazing, strong women who don't know what self pity is; no victim mentality here! Just the will to move forward, soldier on, and get this over and done with.

Keemo, I take full responsibility for the mooseball controversy. Indeed, I did make meatballs with moose meat. A moose is a type of deer. Just to make things more interesting, this morning we went out for brunch where we had . . .  bison shortribs. It was absolutely to die for - tender, succulent and very tasty. A bison is a buffalo. LOL.

Nihahi, this weekend I experienced the snow firsthand again. There is nothing as spectacular as an Alberta sunset. My boots took a beating traipsing around in the snow and puddles on the streets of Edmonton, but it was mild, fresh and beautiful there.

Edi, Dakota, Traii, Bearcub, Carlads, Websister and everybody else, a good night to you all!

Traii, do hope I didn't get you into trouble for laughing in work ? The wig thing is weird isn't it ,you do forget it is there then pow !! it flies across the room.Thank goodness at least some people knew I had one but the two young ladies on the settee, one of whom was pregnant almost gave birth there and then lol.
Glad your beautiful boy had fun, where do they get their energy from ? Wish it could be bottled and I would buy a crate full.

kim, like nihahi, the meatballs would have sent me into hysterics, the expression on your face must have been priceless lol.
Can't wait for Benny to come back, you and her will have such fun comparing horse stories.
Re name suggestion Warrior sums up everyhing she is and you are ,Benny got her Diamond a wonderful saddle pad in the most amazing colours. When she looked up the meaning of the patterns it was all about fighting, healing etc. Will try and find the page with pics etc for you.

Bearcub, I agree with you as empty nester too. Loved every minute ( almost ) of being a Mum, it was just one girl was really quite nasty and the mum to be did look quite scared. This was her best friend too !
When wig shot off I just bent down picked it up, shook it, pulled it back on and prayed it was on straight . No one said a word and the game continued. Could have been worse could have split my pants when I bent down to pick it up.lol
How's your hair coming on ?

Liefie, glad Alberta good for you.Shortribs DO sound lovely not sure about the Bison part ?

Nihahi, LOVE LOVE LOVE, the way you compared birth of baby and new boob. So perfect a comparison.
We women have to go through these things but at least your new boob won't eat you out of house and home, give cheek, and want to borrow the car. Small compensation Laughing

Benny, you are in our hearts and thoughts every single day. Hope you are back with all your latest experiences very soon X

Carla Bevlee and all sisters take care of yourselves. X

Bearcub, I guess I am very lucky to have a brother that only lives 5 minutes drive from me and are very close. Sorry to hear about your brother not being as close....6 hours, I couldn't imagine that :(

Lifie, glad you had fun over the weekend :) You have definetely got it right with us warriors just having a good time, chatting away, laughing, and wanting to move forward . Having eachother helps make that move forward that extra bit quicker :)

Ok must ask, what's bison ??

Nihahi, so right about birth and boobs....I went through labor with no pain killers, think thats why I'm so strong now....I  haven't taken any pain meds, no nausea tablets, nothing...yesterday I told my mum i could feel a little head ache coming on ( think lack of fluids , naughty me) and she said to have a panadol.....I said no I'll sleep it off i don't take drugs...lol ummm she's like no chemo's not drugs is it you dag.....!

Dakota, hope you had a good rest...working today ?

Whos having treatment this week ? I've got bloods tomorrow for chemo Wednesday, praying my Neurophils haven't gone down too much, last week they were 1.5 and onc stops chemo if its less than 1 !!!

Websister, how's kenny going ? bought any McDonalds lately, lol.......hope mums all settled and happy :)

    Good morning ladies

I have heard from Benny - She is OK, had a rough week it sounds like, I'll let her provide the details when she is ready. I have told her there are new ladies here who would like to discuss horses with her :)

Edi - you always find a way to make me laugh, loved the wig story yesterday as well as your frustrations with the italics and bold typing

Nihahi - thanks for sharing those beautiful pictures, as I was driving around on Saturday the mountains were so beautiful on the horizon

Bearcub - glad you are feeling a little better

Traii - everything crossed for your bloodwork

Liefie - sounds like you had a wonderful weekend in Edmonton

    Welcome to everyone new

Kenny is fine, off to school for his new semester this a.m.; Mom will be all settled as of tomorrow, last minute stuff for us to do today - all good

Oh Websister - thank you so much for letting us know about Benny.  We will welcome her back with open arms and try not to overwhelm her with our love.  At her own pace.

Glad your son is better. Your semesters must run a little differently.  Some US schools do start new semester about this time and was surprised when a friend's daughter just started her semester last week and they live about 60 miles away.  Not real common I don't think in Texas.

Your mom is going back to the lodge or a different place?  Lodge is not a US term.  Is that a term for assisted living?  I must admit it is more pleasant sounding than either AL or NH.

Hope everyone having a good Monday with minimal SEs.  Off to do chores.

Italics and bold typing, don't know how it got there or then vanished halfway through post !
Glad your boy back to normal. So hope Mum is happy tomorrow.

Luvmy, don't overdo those chores. I can give you lessons Laughing an aunt of mine used to wait until family due home. Stand in middle of living room and spray polish into the air for the smell and plug in vacum and leave in the middle of the floor. Worked every time lol.

Dakota, Hope you are recovered from weekend.

We all eagerly await Benny's first post, but just so long as she is ok that is the BEST NEWS ever.

    Smile
