nihahi, Sending out (( hug )) you must be so fed up with that alien boob. Cake for you when new one in place.
Hope you still manage mountain day and have a glorious time.
Will be glad when flippin shed done, he keeps muttering on about it. Hopefully no disasters. lol x -
Oh goody....someone to play with! Morning Edi. Yes, beyond fed up with alien, am about to start counting days until surgery just to have something to do, then the thought of recovering from surgery gets me all anxious all over again. I will definitely still do the mountain trip, though had hoped to have a good sleep beforehand. It is supposed to be a really nice day, so if I can manage to pack in the camera, I'll take some photos for you.
-
OOOOhhhhh boy, now starting to wonder what my cake will look like, considering the "theme".
-
You never know lol. Will keep it tasteful I promise. x
-
I'm wide awake too. I want to go somewhere Saturday morning but if I don't get to sleep pretty soon, I might just bag it. I'm going to have a few games of Freecell on the computer and see if that doesn't do the trick. Sweet dreams all. No peas, though.
-
Sorry missed a post. Looking forward to pics. Will take one of DH and pal risking life and limb on shed roof.
You will be fine after op, just think no more peas !!! Know it will be sore for a while but the end result will be so worth it. Warrior sisters are tough as old boots. x -
Curveball, hope you get some shut eye. Enjoy Saturday x
-
Ok I'm picturing the cake Edi's going to make for you Nihahi, she'll have 3 to make by mid year .... One of my friends b'day cakes ( a guy) who turned 30 was a pair of boobies....lol was great .... just hope my nipples look better than the cakes did when they are finished...lol.
Nihahi, hope you got out on the mountains minus the peas. Sorry I wasn't here to play before, was watching family movie on tv with DS and DH before putting DS to bed.....oldie but goodie, Parent Trap.
Edi, glad its a nice day for DH to be out doing the shed...my DH was out today (as he ALWAYS is) outside finishing off our verandah...its such a gorgeous area now that I enjoy sitting down on our new outdoor furniture and lounge while watching DH making a BBQ.....(he's not too bad on the BBQ, I'd never let him cook inside......he isn't a very good cook....shhhh I didn't tell you girls that...lol ... he's handy outside as he's a fitter and turner by trade but definetely not a master chef....!
Curveball, hope you got to sleep, i always play with my phone on games before I sleep...lol.....bejeweled or candy saga on fb is my fav at the moment !!
Edi, hope you enjoy your Saturday and feel much better today. I had a little emotional break down today, just for 10 mins but felt much better after that....between my hair coming out a little again ( not that i should be emotional about it lol...it hasn't been 'real hair' for a few months now).... my nails are coming off one by one.... I have 2 left to go (I can't even get knots out of something without getting a knife to assist )!! just little bits of everything getting to me.....I know I only have 3 more actual chemos to go but I just thought I'd have a sooky la la today
......!! So moving forward....have a 2 year old party tomorrow at a kids play centre, Zac's very excited and every time he was naughty today ( which was a fair few times...lol) I told him no party tomorrow......his reply "yes I am going mummy to the party" ..... well 3 years old going on 33!!
Enjoy your day beautiful sisters, Carlads, Dakota, hope your not having any SE's and enjoy your weekend...
-

Good Morning from "could be sunny today" California. I have truly enjoyed reading through all of the posts and learning about such a strong, funny and corageous group of warrior women! I finished treatment in October 2012 and, with the exception of daily Tamoxifen, I AM DONE!!!! I posted for two reasons - first, if I can offer help in any way, I have been through it all, and second, I think it is good to get out of the immediate and look at this as a trip with a beginning and an end. It really does end - at least the stuff most of you are going through right now ends. Sure, there is always a cancer thought that I have yet to distinguish, but as time passes, it takes up less of your energy. You ALL can do this!!!
Some tricks of the trade - I may become immediately unpopular with this suggestion but will make it anyhow - medical marijuana is the wonder drug for cancer treatment. My onc was fine with it (as were most of the nurses ini the chemo room). They have strains specifically geared towards people going through chemo so no drugged out stony feeling, just appetite, no nausea and no headache. It made a HUGE difference in mitigating my side effects.
Dry skin or during rads - lanolin. I know it sounds (and is) gross, but it really works. My rad onc swears by it and actually provides her patients with big tubs of the stuff. If you do use, don't wear a shirt you care about as it stains.
Happy to answer anything if it will help. Good luck and get-r-dun!!!!!

Traii, crossing everything that DS gets to party. Will do you good to have a catch up with other Mummy's.
Had such fun in poundland. Only bought a few things but was good to get out without feeling like cxxp.
Almost finished the diaper cake I am making for baby shower, must keep busy, as feel much less sorry for myself if I do.
Luvsya xxDakota, you haven't got time to feel sorry for yourself. Good job you enjoy sport with your kids. Mine were into Ballet and Tap which is where we spent a lot of time at weekends. Son was into snooker and had a table in his bedroom so I just listened to the clanking of balls all day.
(Nihahi, no giggling !)
Appetite bit better thanks, ate every bit of the shephards pie and even though texture felt bit yuk it went down easy. DH was pleased I ate so much so that stopped him fussing for a while
.
How you feeling? hope you are looking after yourself. xWill check you all ok later. xxxx
-
Good you got out Edi & got a few things too

Hmm clanking of balls hey!!! Lol
Some of those diaper cakes can look amazing....ive seen a pram and motorbike be done out of diapers, towels, face washers etc. They look amazing. Good luck with yours and good to keep you occupied. Is hubby still out in the shed!!!
Dakota good to see you feeling well and gettin those usual 'saturday chores done!
Carlads hope no headache from neulasta shot.
Well 3am here got up with sore tummy and sweats...all good now so will try sleeping!! -
I did finally drop off about 4 AM, but I had to resort to my secret weapon (a spoonful of sherry) to do it. I'm on prednisone after being really sick three weeks ago with a chemo reaction. I wonder if that has anything to do with this. It's a tapering dose, so I am taking less per day than when I got out of the hospital, but maybe it adds up. I'll be done with that med in another few weeks and if that's what is causing this, sleep should return to normal then (whatever the heck "normal" means any more).
Has anyone heard from/about bennymuffins offline? I stopped following the thread for a while and then last week caught up reading the posts I had missed. It sounds like she has been having a mighty tough time of it.
-
Curveball - yes prednisone can disrupt sleep. Just like the steroids for chemo. Prednisone is a very good, useful steroid and tapering doses are protocol. Your body needs to take back over the steroid production which is what tapering the dose does. A spoonful of sherry does the trick? I don't think you'll get in much trouble with a spoonful.
No, no word from Benny. Our suspicions are that she is in hospital with no way to recharge phone or internet access. Our prayers on here are all with her. When I see new messages from this thread I always open it first hoping to see something from her.
-
Traii, hope you feeling better ? Just been out the back, two silly old buggers are still on the shed roof !! It is dark and freezing cold. They shouted that they nearly finished. Heating on and large scotches poured to warm them up.x
Curveball, nice to hear from you.No one has heard from dear Benny just hope that no news is good news. x
Luvmy, R u ok ? x
-
Hi everyone,
Yes darn headache... Doesn't seem as bad this time but it's still early. A little swollen in fingers. I am drinking my water Traii I promise! I hope you are feeling better!
Curveball, I was up all night the day of my Chemo due to the steroids they gave me and I have disrupted sleep while taking them the two days after.
Edi, hope you are doing better also. My taste is gone now.
Dakota, enjoy you day of sports!! Sounds like you are feeling well..yay!
Nihahi, looks like the frozen peas will be out again...for my head.
Websister, hope all is well and your son is doing fine. You just never know what the reaction is going to be with 3rd molars, we had sisters have theirs removed on same day, one looked like a chipmonk one no swelling at all!
Luvmy, have a good day.
I am so worried about Benny!! I just wish we knew something!
Everyone else enjoy your weekend..
Carla

Hi again.... Sorry about posting in here earlier. I thought it was an open forum but new to this - never posted anything or anywhere before so I'll read up on the directions and figure out what I'm doing.
Hope you are all having a good weekend. -
Keemo, this IS an open forum, thanks for posting. We all natter on in between the support and advice.
Benny started this thread and we all miss her like mad and worry about her.
Please join us anytime, so glad you are through most of it. We love to hear of this it gives all so much hope.Edi x
-
Keemo....please don't apologize.....these threads are open to everybody. Welcome....
I'm not really the right person to welcome you here, as the ladies wil tell you....lol
I pop in once in a while to say hello and check up on one particular lady. I'm sure
others will come along here to sy hi....they ARE a great bunch of women. -
Thanks so much, Edi and Scottie1. I thought that maybe this was just for Canadians or something, thought see that Carla is from Ramona. Anyhow, thanks and I will keep reading and keeping up with you all. I do hope Benny is okay. I have felt so bad for her throughout. I ride horses too so was hoping that some equine therapy might help but unfortunately, this crap hits everyone differently and she is sure getting a bad rap.
One thing that I think helped me was that I have a 14 year old daughter (13 when I was diagnosed). I was so worried about how it would effect her that I put alot of energy into being as uneffected as possible. Teen years are already rough so having mom walking around with no hair and a barf bag in the car (yes, I ws a puker), was tough, but I kept on smiling and said "it's better than the alternative" - do you like the blue wig or the pink one better? HAHA Being alone, as Benny has said she is, makes it tough... no one to drag you out for a walk or tell you that a bath after several days might not be the worst thing! If I lived close, i would visit!
Anyhow, so looking forward to learning and sharing more.
p.s. - regarding headaches - it is a major side effect with Zofran. I couldn't take it for that reason. I preferred barfy to headachy.
xoxo Kim
-
Kim, you are spot on about Benny needing someone. We all wish we could have just gathered her up and brought her home with us.
I live in Merseyside, near Liverpool England. Home of the Beatles. Love the fact that we may be in the four corners of this earth, but we have such empathy for each other.
I love coming on here and hearing about different ways of life.
Must have been hard for you to keep positive for the sake of your daughter, she must be so proud of you.
Which part of this big wide world do you hail from ?Edi X
-
Hi Edi! I am from Marin in Northern California. While a really cool place to live, Marin County also has the highest occurence of breast cancer anywhere in the world. It's bizarre becuase it's such a granola, outdoor, hiking/biking kind of place.
Liverpool! I'm jealsous! I am hoping to travel in the next year - my reward for getting through this and my mantra to live life now. My partner and I have England the list. I am waiting to feel better after the crazy year my body has endured. I am still tired alot but hey, no whining here! I am blessed.
My daughter is awesome! She was my daily motivation, my rock! She even came to chemo with me a few times. Lots of love for my sweet girl.
-
Hi Keemo....I think you and Benny have a lot in common....a nice surprise for her when she gets back here. Your daughter sounds awesome.....I have two sons, 29 and 26,
although wonderful boys😏...not quite the same as having a daughter. BTW I'm from Glasgow.....practically neighbours 😎 -
As promised my darling DH and his best mate repairing that shed roof today. They were up there for 4 1/2 hours !
DH is on the roof and his friend up the ladder had his whole stomach removed due to cancer, fourteen months ago. He is an incredible man and has been such a support to me.
His first grandchild is due in two weeks, at one time he never thought he would live to see that day..
His Mantra is " I'm not going anywhere " and I agree with him.
Needless to say we are all thrilled to bits for him.
They did a great job and laughed all day, no one fell off, or hit fingers with hammer. I kept them supplied with food and hot drinks. -
Kim, California, always think of the Mamas and Papas when I hear that word.
Highest instance of BC that is dreadful.
How lovely that your Daughter came with you for chemo, my youngest did, and even though I was reluctant to let her she was blown away with how wonderful everyone was. She did say that if it ever happened to her ( god forbid ) she wouldn't be afraid.
Hope a cure is found before any of ours ever have to face this, xScottiee, Glasgow ! We almost retired to Scotland, the borders, and have had such wonderful visits there. My DH descendants originate from there and even have their own tartan.
Too far from the kids and grandkids.
Hoping to get there again later this year.
How long ago did you leave Glasgow ? x -
Edi, I grew up in Glasgow....came to Canada whenI was 23 yrs!!!!....grew up with all the Liverpudlian groups!!!....they all came to Glasgow....danced to the Stones (live) ....was in the days before they all got really famous
BTW...Keemo....sorry ....the reference to Liverpool and Glasgow was for Edi...having one of those days. 😜 -
Hi ladies !!
Edi- shed looks great!!
Traii- love the parent trap.
Kheemo- welcome.
Hi to everyone !!
Boy am I tired. 13 hours of sports did me in! Early night for me. Back at hockey in 12 hours.... Hope everyone is awesome !!! Will check in later
