great product to protect skin during radiation treatment !!

I hope every one knows how important it is to keep your radiated breast moisturized---at least twice a day and probably more  during the last 2-3 wks of Treatment . . .

I just discovered  a moisture cream called "Udderly Smooth" udder cream--it was originally developed to keep cow udders moist and intact.  But it's also great for humans!! It has healing properties as well as being a fantastic moisture cream.  The first ingredient listed is allantoin which I looked up--its an effective cell proliferating and healing agent that stimulates good tissue formation.  It also performs as a chemical cleaner and helps remove scaling and necrotic tissue--therefore it is useful to treat wounds, BURNS, scalds, psoriasis, and eczema.  Dimethicone is the second ingredient and it is considered an emollient.  The third ingredient is lanolin oil, which softens the skin and is a good humectant (absorbs moisture from the air).

Having used this for several days now I can attest to how well it keeps my skin moist--and it does not wear off!!  I've been applying the cream at night and the next morning I can still feel how soft and moist my skin is.  I had been using pure aloe gel(alcohol free)--and that doesn't even come close to this stuff--my skin would be dry within a few hrs!!

I ran this by the Rad. Onc and she knew about this cream and the patients that used it sailed through treatment without any issues!!  I 'm still in early stage of TX--just finished week 2, so we'll see how it goes.  I did talk to a friend who had radiation and she said everything went fine until the last 2 wks of TX--then her skin erupted into terrible burns and she ended up having to use  silverdene cream (prescription cream, used to treat 2nd and 3rd degree burns and wounds).

Hope this helps and good luck to everyone!1
