Mastectomy tomorrow!
Any thoughts/ support tonight? Appears to be 2b or 3a, but will know more from path. Lumpectomy showed both IDC and invasive, sentinel node was positive. Planning plastics with expander + rads. Hoping to avoid chemo. I have only 2 weeks off work here in Los Angeles.

Good luck to you lalalady! Hoping you can get some rest, and have some folks helping you out during recuperation. I have yet to have my mastectomy, so no words of wisdom from me, other than be sure to rest, rest, rest. Let your body heal, if nothing else to avoid extending your recuperation time. But my understanding is it also increases your risk of lymphedema.
We have a group called 2013 Sister Warriors in the IDC topic area, which you are more than welcome to join and share experiences, questions and emotions.

Just warm thoughts and hugs. Be good to yourself. Take your meds and allow your healing both emotional and physical. Let others serve you. Ask for help. Allow yourself to cry. Best of luck and prayers for a good recovery.

Hi ladies - I'm home from UCLA hospital (wonderful Drs and nurses) awaiting path results to determine next steps. I had left mascetomy with tissue expander, and vomited most of first night, but ok now. The drain is doing ok. Not sure of my stage yet.
I kept my lymph nodes (by choice), except for Sentinel node which was disected during lumpectomy. Thoughts for next few weeks are welcome.

Hi I had mastectomy feb 20 th 2013 had invasive ductal carcinoma as well. Concerned about tube still draining after 5 wks how long did yours drain.
-
Gma, Mine drained for 2 weeks and then the PS took them out even though they hadn't slowed as much as he said they would need to before taking them out. He said he wont leave them in longer than 2 weeks regardless. Not sure on the reason. Hope you get them out soon, they are such a pain.

My drains from MX were in 3 weeks. Such a relief when they came out!
Good luck to you. IT WILL BE 75% better when those drains get out!
