I Come to the Garden...

There was a shooting this morning at the high school I graduated from. At this piont only one student was shot and the student who was the shooter has been arrested. PLease pray for all families involved as well as the other students. You'd never think it would ever be your home tome.
-
Good grief. I just don't understand this mentality. Praying.
-
At the news conference, there were people speaking about the fact that this shooter might have been suspended from school last year for having a hit list.
-
We're pretty slow around here lately. Maybe this thread has fallen off the radar.
Yesterday I spent the day with Matt. He had a couple of VA medical appointments and asked if I'd like to go with him. SInce I am jobless right now I had the time. We talked a lot and he played this song he had downloaded. He says it is his favorite at the moment.
I know it is not a hymn but I thought I'd bring some music back to the garden.
-
I hope he keeps this in his heart as he is currently seeing a woman (a CHristian nursery school teacher) who has children. He is wild about all of them, and I pray he will not get his heart broken.
-
That song has been one that has always prompted me to turn the dial when it plays on the radio because I didn't have that with my ex (I am officially divorced by the way, after being separated for 9 years!!) But I now have a reason to keep listening to it...I will be praying for Matt. That song gets a lot of air time on Air1 & KLOVE.
-
I am just proud of him thinking about living that way. He is enjoying the slow pace of dating a family woman.
-
My second cousin (more like an aunt) has been dx'd with ILC last week. Just found out yesterday. She is 65 and active. Her DH is going in for knee replacement tomorrow, and she commutes to assist in caring for her 99 year old mother. Please pray for her and her family. My mother is taking this very hard so please include her in your prayers.
-
Will do Meece.
Father, I humbly bow before you and give thanks for your love, protection, and strength. Each & every day I see evidence of you and how you cover us. Right now I ask that your arms of love, protection and strength enfold Meece's 2nd cousin and the entire family. Medical issues are looming and they need the reassurance only you can give. Please guide & direct the doctors involved in the care of all the parties involved. Raise up the nurses and caretakers so that each and every item gets attended to. We ask for your will in their lives and in ours, Lord. And we gives thanks for what you will do. In your Son's Name I pray, Amen
-
Amen
And Thank you, Eph.

My turn again. My 13 year old dog, the one that pulled me down the embankment resulting in the broken shoulder back in Oct '10, is at the vet. Here's what I sent to my sister.
"Ruby is at the vet.
The last several days she hasn't wanted to walk & then Monday she stopped eating. Yesterday, I notice a huge lump in the area of her left shoulder/clavicle on the front of her (Left side) Took her in to the vet this AM. Dr. Tom said, and I quote, "this is pretty bad". It's probably 1 of 2 things. She has an abcess in her esophagus from her garbage grinding or there's a large tumor. He's going to try to scope her today to see if he can even get a scope down. She is running a fever which he actually said was a good thing (infection as opposed to just a cancerous lump perhaps?)"
Please be prayer for me & Ruby today. I am not in a good enough space yet over losing Mom to lose Ruby too.
-
Joni, my prayers are with you and Ruby. Losing a family member is heartbreaking, losing two in such a short time is devistating! I pray that Ruby pulls through and will be with you a good, long time and that your grief for the lose of your Mom will be eased.
-
Dr. Tom is HAPPY! Ruby's esophagus was clear. He had her knocked out for that, so he opened the lump from the outside. large abcess, unknown cause. It's draining "TONS" of pus; her blood panel looks fine. He's going to start an antibiotic series & keep her overnight, but he said he was very happy, especially in light of what he thought it was, he said.
Thanks everybody.
-
Good news Joni. Very happy for you and Ruby!
-
Great news, Joni! Sending prayers for a quick recovery and many more doggy hugs for you and Ruby.
-
Hey Laural...miss your poems..That's you, right?
-
Good to see the ladies gathering the wagons once more. And so very happy that Ruby's issue appears to be the lesser of two evils.
Thank you for being there, ladies.
-
Posting in case any of you need this as much as me.

Thank you God for Ruby`s reprieve!!!
Meece, I missed your work issue. What happened? Sorry to rip the scab off of a wound....

Long story, but my bosses wife didn't like me, and I was "called on the carpet" several times because of things that she was unhappy with me about. (No she didn't work for the company.) I had been prewarned that she was a jealous woman, but I had never given her anything to be jealous about. I got in trouble for walking into her husband's office instead of only using intercom as well as other unreasonable things. It became very stressful, and my boss was always looking for things to write me up about, like being behind in my work when I had been off for 3 days. I got written up on that one the day I returned to work. So anyway, he finally just let me go. Although I like a paycheck now and again, I was relieved. DH said when he came home that afternoon that he hadn't seen me so happy in almost a year.
So, yesterday I went to the orientation for "substitute classified clerical and instructional aide" in the local High School District. I await my fingerprinting and TB test comeing back clean and I will be able to sub. I am intrigued with this as I can accept assignments according to my schedule (I can block out my availablity for when the new baby arrives) and I can actually have holidays off. It will be less pay since there will be less hours but I can tighten my belt. It also opens me up to be able to apply for permanent employment withing the district as many jobs are open only to current employees.
I should be "in the system" on Monday and then I'll just see what happens.

Hi Joni, Yes I am the writer. I have been busy being healthy lately and loving it. After 2 years with 3 surgeries, 5 rounds of chemo, and 3 cancers down, I am finally back to exercising, full time work, full time mom, and feeling wonderful. Here's my latest written recently:
January Joy
Here in the midst of breath capturing cold,
Snow that squeaks under my boots,
Here in the midst of sudden storms
That block my view of all,
You throw open the morning
With a canopy of pink against the frozen sky.
Each day, You begin a little earlier,
Laying out the colors like a quilt around my shoulders.
You could have made all the skies gray,
But You chose to be extravagant,
To pursue me with a passion.
Lord, here in this moment of time
Between the storms,
I wrap myself in Your promises
And celebrate today.Laura Alway

That`s s beautfiul Laura!! I`m a writer, too!
Meece, that is common bullshit and I HATE it in offices!! That`s why I, too, am much happier off work. What will you sub for? Admin work? or teaching?
-
Love the poem, Laural.
I will be subbing as an instruction aide for special needs or clerical or switchboard or attendance clerk. I will be happy if I get attendance more as it pays higher, but by my willingness to sub in all of these areas I am more likely to get more assignments.
I thought working in an office where I was the only woman would be the best, but one of my coworkers told me the first week I was there that the wife was a jealous woman and I should bring plenty of pictures of my DH and kids to make her see I had a happy life with my DH.

Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends in the Garden

Yes Happy VD garden peeps!

Oh my. It's been awhile since I came to the garden. Everyone must be busy.
Well I come with my hands full of requests today. I'm just going to copy an e-mail that I sent to my siblings & my aunt & uncle. Ruby is my dog & Rachel is my DD.
"So, I took Ruby back into the vet yesterday for several things.#1 - the cyst between her toes has come back (it was removed last summer for those who didn't know or don't remember) and there is a secondary cyst forming on the toe itself#2- the lump that the doctor determined to be an abcess is still fairly large (probably about the size of a tennis ball or a bit larger) and very firm#3-she has growths on her buttSo the vet said that the cyst between the toes is probably just a repeat, not malignant, but extremely hard to get gone completely. The growth on the toe itself though is worrisome. The external polyps on the rear are not in & of themselves worrisome other than it's a horrific surgery & in the location that they are there is extreme chance of contamination, etc. Plus she is such a licker! Those cone things are worthless on her; our neighbors say they heard her howling ALL day when she had that on before. On top of it he noted that she has something wrong on the cornea of one of her eyes, but that seems to be healing (it's like one of the cats caught her with a claw). But, the bad news is the lump. Apparently at the end of January when it was determined to be an abcess, what it was was a tumor that had busted out from where it had been "in situ". The tissue around the tumor necrosified (don't know if that's a real word, or used correctly) & that was the pus & drainage & infection. Now that that is all healed, but the lump is still there, he aspirated it yesterday-no fluid, just cells, malignant under the scope. Which then changes the complextion of the other things-they too could be or could not be malignant. He went on to tell me that there was a new chemo drug that is doing good things on cancer in animals, but very expensive. I told him as a chemo survivor I would NEVER subject an animal who couldn't understand what was happening to them, to chemo. And the cost was a deterrent also. And she is almost 13.So we were sent home with the good old standby Prednisone-twice a day for 3 days, once a day for 3 days & then every other day until gone. As long as she continues to look forward to our walks (which have been cut back in length & we now seek out pavement & grass only because the gravel pathways seem to bother her foot more) & is not advertising pain or potty problems, we will soldier on.I'm better than I thought I would be (so far). And then the other "news" is Rachel is VERY sick. Fever, sounds like a 3 pack a day for 40 years smoker with her cough & her voice, & she feels like s--- . She's on the couch trying to survive! It's always something!"
-
So sorry about your companion, Joni. The dog my family had for 15 years before I got married had two mxs due to breast cancer. It is so tough to have them go through something like that. I agree, you can best be there for her to provide comfort and stability.
As for Rachel, a month ago I came down with a chest congestion which went into a cough and complete laryngitis for 8 days. She warned me that she would not use antibiotics due to the prevalence of antibiotic resistance which can actually lead to pneumonia and potential fatal results. That scared me, but she did put me on a pill which "numbs" the sensitivity in the lungs which cause uncontrolable coughing and a Codeine based cough syrup. After about 10 days of sleeping in a recliner I finally go to the point I could sleep in my bed once more.
I went back to the Dr yesterday as I still have the horrible cough and she refilled the cough syrup and added a 5 day steroid regimen.
I say this because you need to see that Rachel listens to the dr. and takes what ever she is prescribed. The whole thing has knocked me down. I have been exhausted and wished I could have slept for days on end.
-
Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for your blessings. Please be with Joni as she is facing these trials. Help her feel you compassion as she deals with Ruby and may she have strength and Health as she cares for Rachel. Please touch Rachel with your healing hand and comfort them all. Amen
