Anyone needed an Oncotype Dx re-test?

How acurate is the oncotype Dx test? My pathologist seems to think I should get my Oncotype re-tested. Has anyone had a similar experience? Has anyone had ANY issues with their Oncotype in the past?

    How big (small) was your tumor?  Can you provide your Dx (pathology) and your Oncotype score?  What is the reason for the retest recommendation?   Thanks for starting this thread.  I'm also interested i hearing from those who get "surprising" scores that don't seem to match up with their pathology, and whether a second test revealed a different result.

    My tumor was 2cm, My cells grade 3, very highly differentiated, Ki67 was high. nothing in lymph nodes. My oncotype was 10. My pathologist thought it was strange. He's asked for it to be looked into.

    Welcome. You could be my sister as she has the exact same results and is waiting to hear back about her Oncotype score! But you appear to be 40 and she is clearly 41...*wink*

    Hi Rob40, I'm the same as you, 2.1cm, high KI and no lymph nodes.  ERPR+ Her2+1, my Onco score came at 11 - Me and the Oncologists were a bit surprised due to the +1 HER2, and the grade 3.  I didnt have a retest- but always have wondered if different parts of a tumor can express different scores on the Onco test. Have it retested if your Onco suggests it. Better safe than worrying.

    rob40,  I see.  So it was the high grade/high Ki67 not corresponding with the low Oncoscore basically.  Yes, usually those two do support each other.  Well, let's see what he finds out.

    I'm in a bit of a different situation, but I was diagnosed with a grade 1 tumor, ki67 less than 5%. I had a .7mm micromet in 1 of 3 sentinal nodes. My oncotype was 4. After my BMX with axillary disection, there was one addional node found with 5mm. So, the MO decided to oncotype the growth in the node, to see if the biology matched up. My original tumor grading pathology from lumpectomy was 3-1-1, with the 3 being the "architecture" of the cells. The MO referred to that 3 as a "grade 3" score on the tumor, and said there could be something about that that is making it more aggressive. I had a consultation with a very experienced RO who specialized in breast cancer and is very familiar with the oncotype. She said she had never heard of anyone oncotyping the lymph nodes, but that it made sense as it would be the most aggressive of the tumor biologically. It doesn't seem like this approach is common though. I won't have the results until next week.

    I hope it is accurate because I had the test done too. My score came back at 11. I had a micromet in the SN. I had a lumpectomy and 31 RADS treatments. Also the tumor was determined to be smaller and non-aggressive. Def when in doubt if you can retake the test. It is very expensive and while none of us wants money to stand in the way of something we need done I gotta admit had insurance not paid for the test it would have been tough to pay for the test given the rest of the medical bills associated with BC. I know Genomic Labs who conducts the test will work out a pay as you can afford plan and that certainly helps. When I had the test done it was 5k.

    Also, what is Ki67?  Is this new? I had a pathology done a couple of years ago, and don't remember this....

    My situation was rare. The pathology did not match the score to such an extent that both my pathologist and oncologist have recommended Chemo. I'm going to do the Chemo because I'm worried about the agressive nature of the cancer and my age. While I do believe the oncotype score is mostly accurate, and I have had the offer to re-test, I just feel that I trust my doctors over a lab report. So that is where I stand. For anyone wondering more, check the post above please.
