Donna, as for icing fingers, no one told me about that trick and I had problems, but not till my 6th chemo.  Then my finger tips were burning and that's when the real damage began.  So you might check around, but I am just guessing here, you should ice if you feel a burning sensation.  I don't see how icing during treatment will help, since the chemo doesn't reach the cellular level till the 2-3rd day, when you begin to feel sick.  My toenails were not affected, and I didn't loose any nails, but several were loose and I'm still not through the grow out period.

I didn't loose all my eyebrows, just a few.  I was able to lightly pencil in to fill them in.  I lost a lot of my lower lashes but not my tops.  But the lowers came back in quickly after chemo.  I don't think Latisse will help to prevent loss. Just like nothing will save your hair.  I would just save it for use after, to help rebuild.  For me I got severe runny eyes starting with my third treatment and no longer could wear mascara.  If it starts happening to you, just wear eye liner and don't worry about your lashes.  You just have to let some things go.  I know it's hard, but once you resolve to let them go, life is easier.  Just like your hair.  Once you find a cute wig and some cute caps, you won't mind all the hassle of having hair.  It's quite a relief during chemo not to have to deal with it.  Even now, I miss my hair a little, but not as much as I thought I would.  It does make life simpler.

Don't be nervous kingboo, we're here to help you get through it.  Remember it has great success in many cancers, so the sooner it starts the sooner it starts killing cancer cells. It definitely has some nasty side effects but it's soooo much better than the alternative.  And some people don't get hit too hard.  Keep a positive attitude.

I'll say a prayer for you.  If you have any questions just ask!

Thanks Victoria this information is very helpful. I am really stressed with everything! I realize that I need to chill out and not be such a type A personality.

Kingboo, I was nervous too! It was not as bad as I feared. Friday is my second treatment and I am not fearing it nearly as much. The first treatment was tolerable and by day 9 I was back to feeling like myself again. Hang in there, just think you will be one step closer putting this chapter of your life behind you. Stay strong and good luck.

    Hi Kingboo,

I just completed 6 rounds of chemo on January 17, yippee!!!! The first three were FEC and the last three were Tax. I skipped through the first three and thought this was easy pezzie.....then I had the Tax...some lessons learned...I had ice packs on my hands and feet the last two rounds to help with the tingling and numbness..and yes, it did help. Also, on my last round I took my anti- nausea medication everyday for a week and did not get so sick the last round. I was so relieved and nervous to do my last treatment. It usually hit me the fourth day after treatment...I had the tears, numbness, vomiting, sores in mouth, hands and feet. They cut back my treatment by 25% after the first treatment. Please make sure that you call you doctor/nurse if you are experiencing any severe problems.

I got through it and now I am on the other side. You will get there too!
