    Renae:

I am 4 years out since diagnose this coming February, but if you are referring to scans done prior to treatment, yes, my BC surgeon ordered a breast MRI, even though my mammo found just the one 1.2 cm nodule.  This was done prior to my lumpectomy.  After lumpectomy, i met with my breast oncologist (she was very well versed in triple negative breast cancer) and she ordered a PET scan, but since my nodes were all negative and breast MRI showed nothing else going on, they refused the PET but allowed a full body CT with contrast and a full body bone scan.  My onc feels that is the only way to know exactly what the stage of the cancer is as things can be missed if not scanned for.  She will scan me anytime I request one should I have any symptoms of have any pains that steadily worsen and remain for at least two weeks.  Wishing you all the best,

    Linda

I have never had a scan or ct or MRI. I found the lump, and after the lumpectomy it was determined to be cancer. I then had a port put in and lymph nodes removed - all clear, so I am in chemo now. After my bmx I will request a pet scan for peace of mind.
