I had a bilateral mx Feb 2011 and unfortunately have had 16 surgeries since ( bleeding disorder and infections) needless to say I had an exchange on my "good" side 2 weeks ago (also the side that had node removal) and I have been experiencing chest swelling and shoulder blade, elbow and wrist pain. I do have slight visible swelling in the hand. Are these the beginning signs of lymphodemia? If so what dr do u schedule an appt with?

Kimber, goodness, what an ordeal! Hoping for quick healing and the chance to finally get your life back.

The person to help you evaluate this (and if necessary, treat it) is a well-trained lymphedema therapist. Any doctor on your team can write a referral for you. Don't let them tell you to "wait-and-see," because if it's lymphedema (and yes, those can be some of the beginning signs) the sooner you treat it the easier it is to control it going forward--and the less likely you are to have to deal with serious infections. Here's how to find a qualified lymphedema therapist near you:
    http://www.stepup-speakout.org/Finding_a_Qualified_Lymphedema_Therapist.htm

On that website you'll also find information about symptoms, risk reduction, and what to expect from treatment.

Please let us know what you discover, and tell us how we can help. Gentle hugs,
    Binney
