nihahi, Chinese meal, I am jealous. I worked in the finest chinese resaurant in our area for 26 yrs. Loved every minute, pay was pretty bad but tips good and as part of wages you got your dinner ! watching my boss was poetry in motion, he would let us eat REAL chinese food for our meal and I adored it. Mainly veggie and I cook boiled rice chinese style as it is foolproof, even DH can do it lol.
What did you have to eat, a banquet or do you have a favourite ?
Now I am hungry again lol.
Healing energy is incredible, hope our Benny tunes in to some.
Qigong is lovely to watch on you tube looking at classes locally on the web. Think I will give it a go. x

Lunch was grilled pork dumplings (this place gets them crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside - heaven in your mouth), ginger beef, prawns with snow peas in garlic sauce, chicken and cashews, mixed veggies, and of course green tea and steamed rice. Dessert was pineapple, apple and banana slices, that they somehow coat in a hot caramel (kind of like a brulee) then quickly cool in ice water. OMG food at this place is to die for!!!!!! After we finished eating, we all did a takeout order to bring home too!

Being a reiki healer yourself, I have no doubt that qigong would be a perfect fit for you.

Hope the weather forecasts for your area turn out to be wrong again. One of my lunch friends was originally from Kent (don't ask the name of the town - it's something on something else upon something) and another was from South Shields. They just rolled their eyes when I said I'd heard parts of England were supposed to get snow. Apparently bad memories for them!

nihahi, you have just eaten some of my favourite chinese meals, can't believe you had a takeaway too !!
Your english friends were right to roll their eyes, it is like armageddon is on its way here.
Warnings from newscasters with long faces, enough to make you hibernate .
Will let you know tomorrow if they are right,my ED has bought a sledge, as she says it is now guaranteed NOT to snow lol.

Edi - great picture of your GD, love the big smile. Loved your imagery, hope you didn't mind that I tagged along, the sun warmed stone felt so good :)

Benny - you are doing this!!! :) Keep it up. Re: codeine dosage - I'm not sure the dose you we on previously, he would just want to make sure that you were getting a dose that could be taken every 4 hours if needed without causing too many other problems - he would have to take your asthma into consideration. You can also become dependent on it so he would want the least dose that gives the right effect for you.

Carlads - glad you are doing well

Nihahi - are those peas thawed yet ;). what is the name of the restaurant you went to? Is it in the south end of the city?

Traii - glad you were able to get to the pool and that you got a break from the cytoxan. I think I forgot my fan in that pocket afte the happy dance, maybe she'll be able to use it ;)

I don't think I'm feeling any more effects from the Herceptin at this point with the exception of a runny nose. Started my tamoxifen this week, this is day three. I was nauseated two hours after taking it yesterday, today just felt a little weird, hot flashes occurring a little more frequently and intensely. Guess I'll have to get myself a new fan and start thawing some peas of my own

Leifie - I was so energetic yesterday and had a really good meal ready for DH when he got home (your salmon inspired me). Today it's like I'm out of gas, I think we will be making supper together this evening. Two steps forward ...

Dakota - hope today was good for you, still in your pockets

    Everyone - have a good evening/night/day

Edi, your GD is GORGEOUS.....just a little doll. Can't wait to see photos of her cake you are making.... sounds like party will be lots of fun.

When do you start CMF ? (you've prob told me and i can't remember !) You will be fine.....let me know when  you start out and what MG you will be having of the tablet. And come on over to the CMF thread. Apparently there are different ways to give these drugs combined..one lady is not having a break , whereas I'm having a 2 week break (finally got onto my onc today only because I knew he was in clinic today, so 'kinda' stalked him...lol) but at least my mindds at ease too now.....!

Nihahi, yum, I love chinese food.....chicken in oyster sauce with veggies my fav :)

    Dakota, how you feeling ?

Benny Benny, glad you sound much better, see positive thoughts, positive vibes, you are getting through this, you will conquer chemo even if you take that 'whip' out and 'whip its ass!"

Carlads, you sound good hun keep it up :)

All you ladies hope you are all feeling good

Love all you girls on this thread .....going through chemo is hard enough, talking about it to our family and friends is comforting, but getting through chemo with a bunch of girls like you all makes time go quick, and oh so much easier .. even if we did meet this way, I'm glad we DID meet. Thank you all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Edi - Brushed up on my English geography. Did not know where the Mersey River was. That's all I remember about where you live. Sounds like everyone is ready to hibernate in the snow. Your GD is adorable. I have been on a horse a few times. My last semester in college Oh about 40 years ago I took horseback riding for fun.

Benny - you sound so GOOD! Know the pics of Diamond will cheer you up. Lay low for a few days. Are you getting the cold blasts the East Coast is set to get? We are going to miss most of it as its going further east. Hope the "pipes" as Edi says are doing better this time. Loved the cowgirl up picture. Googled "Booty Up" jeans and found they are sold here. Said WalMart; I don't think so. Also western wear which I don't go to but might have. Don't know if they will fit my W-I-D-E booty.

Nihahi - Chinese sounds wonderful. We have a place here in town oddly enough has donuts and Chinese food. We call it the Chinese Donut place. It's OK but not the greatest. I lived in Hawaii as a child so really spoiled. Place about 10 miles away has really quite good Chinese, but never get there. I've not been out of the house since Sunday but getting out tomorrow for haircut and pick up a few groceries.

Websister - Not sure I'm ready for grandbabies and KNOW DD is not. I barely seem to know what I'm doing these days.

Hope everyone is having a good evening. Traii I can't keep up what time of day it is for you. Are you just getting up?

Lol, my mum says that when she's on face book...she 'plays a little bit' before bed time !

Being a hermit is good...nothing wrong with that especially winter time for you so hermit is nice.....I'd love for it to be winter here, but summer, its such a lively time to be out of the house and out and about I just go with the flow if I'm well enough I may as well go out I think ( in moderation of course) lol

Well good night and sweet dreams xx

Traii..again with the whip! There's a theme here, girl:)

Websister, the chinese restaurant is the Silver Inn, on Centre Street up in NW Calgary. I live in Okotoks.....so now you know how good the food is!!!!!!!!

Benny, day 2 is just about done!

    Edi..any snow yet?

Luvmy.....what have I missed? Not out of the house for days? Hope all is ok.

    Dakota, Carla, Caitlin...you ok?

Lesleyanne...hope the healing is still full steam ahead. The mountains are waiting for you. Can you stand fully upright yet?

No Nihahi - Just no reason to be anywhere and being a hermit.  Besides if I go anywhere I just spend money we don't have. This is a year in transition since I quit my job in November. Not sure how the budget will play out.

Glad to hear you're just taking things at a slower pace for awhile. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. On the budget, "stuff" topic...my hubby is getting close to retirement, and last year we downsized from a 4 bedroom house to a condo. Amazing how liberating it is to have less stuff, and how taking the time to think "do we really need this" puts things in perspective. I read a book once about "clearing clutter" and it is so true, how holding on to and accumulating "things" can drag you down and not let you move forward. I'm sure things will find their balance in your life. Money ain't everything!!!!!!

    Hi Everyone,

It's about 11 pm here is sunny California..  Nihahi, I am doing ok still this awful headaches..  I talked to the Nurse Practitioner yesterday she thinks it is the Neulasta injection..  It has been a week today since my treatment and they aren't easing up!  I see my Oncologist tomorrow so maybe I can find out what the heck is going on.  I felt so good the first three days..  Then it hit me!  From the research I have done sometimes the injection side effects can be worse than Chemo..  I am drinking water and Gatorade.  I just hope they go away soon...  I have been sleeping with an ice pack on my head..  good thing I still have hair. I expect this time next week I will be getting ready for the shave.

    Love to you all,

    Carla

websister, sorry you are out of gas, bit the same today lets go and relax on that stone warmed by the sun, listen to the stream and look at the mountains while breathing in the fragrance of the flowers. Laughing
The meadow is for everyone who needs it hope you use it a lot.
GD is my precious gift ,as are the other three, almost worth getting older for lol.
I have a battery driven small hand fan with small bottle attached, if you press the trigger on it it sends out a fine mist of cool water through the fan. BLISS especially on face.Bought it from our poundland i.e. cheap shop.
Hope se's of tax ease soon, and you have a good day.

traii, CMF 29th of this month. Will look at thread thanks.C by tablets for a fortnight.M by injection first week, F by injection second week then fortnight off. 4 times.
Like you so glad to have this place to come to and thankful for advice and information received.
Whip makes me giggle, years ago whilst helping clean ED's house found just that under her bed ! Then found out she had become an Ann Summers rep and that was where she kept her stock. ( her story and she is sticking to it ) lol
Just baked the cake, icing it today and tomorrow will try to post pic.
Hope you are enjoying your break from meds.

Luvmy, I was born in Liverpool and met my DH in the Cavern where the Beatles were discovered. River Mersey runs between there and the wirral where we now live.
I too quit working last year and after the initial panic moneywise realised that you can live on less with a bit of planning and my daughters mantra " do you need it, can you live without it ? " ringing in my ears while out shopping.
Really need to de clutter too and the local charity shop will be bulging at the seams when I do.
After years of rushing around to work etc, we can sit and enjoy our little homesteads at last.Smile

Niahai, Snow is falling now and great chunks of this country have ground to a halt !
Only about 10cm deep here and DH is weilding the new snow shovel with look of pure joy on his face.
we downsized from 5 bed house 7 years ago and it was the best thing we ever did, trouble is lots of stuff from last house still in boxes in the loft !
Must get my ass in gear and tackle it soon before ceilings come down.

Lesley, hope you are ok ? do you need anymore surgery or is it just healing time now ?

Carla, hope headache lifts soon, hope you can post pics of headshave. I used little fake tan on shaved head last week and it certainly takes the white away and you blend in nicely.

Dakota, how are you, stlill ful of energy I hope.

Benny love the cheers song, hope day three not as bad as usual.

    Caitlin, hope you ok ?

    Joanne,cowgirl and anyone else  (( HUGS ))

Hi Everybody - just a quick one to thank you for thinking of me and to let you know I'm doing fine so far. Had BMX yesterday and since sentinel node was positive, axillary dissection. I have a pain pump and it must be working miracles (on other pain meds too). IV in right arm hurts more than affected left side so far!

I have at least 3 pages of posts to read to catch up on what is happening with all of you. Will do so once I'm home in my own nest.

    Love to you all!

    Benny, how are you today?

Caitlin, so glad you are feeling well enough to post. Stay on that pain medication - no need to be courageous, hey?

Websister, that out-of-gas feeling is all too familiar. I still experience now and then that I suddenly feel very tired, and have to sit down, but it does not last for days any more, just minutes. Will it ever go away completely? You just relax, listen to your body, and rest when you have to.

Edi, when I hear Mersey River, I think of that beautiful old Sixties song 'When ferry crossed the Mersey' sung by Gerry and the Pacemakers. Takes me so far back in time . . . can't believe the years have gone by so fast! It feels like yesterday when we were young, and enjoyed the Beatles, Rolling Stones etc. I'm also ready to downsize, get a smaller place, and get rid of a lot of stuff, but DH is not. I'm working on him, wearing him  away little by little.

Carla, thinking of you doing chemo and losing your hair. This too shall pass.

Everybody else, have a good day, and a good weekend!

Oh my goodness, I'm about 3 pages behind in my reading. Glad everyone is doing well!

Edi, found that mushroom spinach risotto recipe on BC Good Food. Wow, what a great website (favorited!) Yes, for sure they will put you on a really calm horse for your first lessons and you will have such a good time! I find grooming as much fun as riding, very therapeutic.

Caitlin, glad you popped in from the hospital to update us. Good to hear everything went well but are they saying another surgery then? Are they giving you meds for constipation because some of those pain pills cause serious constipation!?

Okay, I know I have to go back and do some reading here but just popped in to say it's day three for me and I woke up feeling just fine (so far). Actually Benny woke me up at 0646 because he needed.... *NEEDED*... a cat treat (rolls eyes). I had my Neulasta shot last night at 1900 and so far no pain at all. My body felt 'heavy' when i got up tho'. If this day continues to be relatively SE free I am heading out to see the giant plush.

Okay, must read back and catch up here.....

    Good morning everyone

Benny - sounds like a good start to day three for you, like the picture and the saying with it

    Caitlin - sending hugs

Carlads - hope you get rid of those headaches soon

Liefie - this thread moves so fast I didn't comment on the car and Gideon's reaction to the gift - what fun, so wonderful!

Edi - hope the snow stops soon, stay warm. Re: whips - you always have the most interesting stories ;). I'm going to be spending some time today in the valley, love the waterfall - feeling more energy today but will pace myself better than I did the other day. Can't complain so far re: tamoxifen

Traii - keep staying cool and enjoy being 'out and about' - in moderation ;)

Luvmygoats - I call it hibernation - not a bad thing at times.

Nihahi - hope the discomfort is easing for you - thanks for the name of the restaurant, haven't been there since before kids but I do remember it being a great restaurant, we will have to make a special effort to go soon

    Lesleyanne - healing thoughts

Joanne - hope today is better for you and that you had a good night

Looking forward to a good weekend, take care everyone

    Great news Benny!!!!

You gals are all so brave and courageous and so great at lifting one another up and supporting each other!!!!

Nihahi I actually had an SGAP (hip) 12 hr surgery Aug 14 and had darn hip drains for over a month....Dec 14 was my stage 2 and he did a number on my tummy to make the front and back match.  You get sort of a mini butt lift when they cut those football shape "chunks" for lack of better work out of the butt/hip/flank area to make the new breasts.  I LOVE them FYI  : )  I did not have enough tummy for the DIEP so the ab work was just so the front was pulled up to match the back.  It was pretty rough.  2nd surgery Dec 14 was 7 hours.  I am mostly standing up straight but still sore in the tummy he tightened the muscle while he was in there and truth be told THAT hurts.  All the other skin stuff doesn't hurt too bad.  They were not able to do the nipple recon and since I have gone through as much as I have I do want to do the final step.

I am pretty upright but still quite sore one month out but in 10 days I can resume exercise but they did fat grafts so I am not suppose to use chest muscles for another 7 weeks...

    It is a process!

    Have a great weekend ladies!!!

Hi sisters, quick update from Siberia lol.

Snow has stopped in our area, Smile Now freezing over so not soft and pretty anymore.GD came home from school on sledge pulled by Mummy, thank goodness it wasn't our turn to collect her. DH and I have just spent the day in front of the fire eating and drinking gallons of tea.

Benny, so proud of you I could burst !! Onwards and upwards. LOVE the pic and the words, very apt.
Hope you got to see Di and DIDN'T overdo it Wink
Glad you like risotto recipes, sooo easy to cook and eat and very tasty too.

Caitlin, so proud of you too, our brave warrior sister. Thoughts are with you for fast healing. xxxx

Liefie, DH and I did a lot of our courting on the ferry cross the mersey, if you got on in Liverpool sailed across the Mersey and stayed on for the return journey you didn't pay ! It killed an hour or so on a summers evening, lol.

hugs to the rest of you, DH is sitting looking malnourished as all this snow shifting builds up an appetite. Jacket potatoes filled with prawns in seafood sauce tonight as these are his favourite. The least I can do  Kiss

Beautiful sunny day here, which seems to match the general mood of most everyone here! So proud of all of you just "getting on and getting through this!"

Edi - I'll send some sunshine your way to help melt the ice. I hate ice, much rather have snow!

Off to see the doc this afternoon. Shoulder issues now seemed to have triggered lower back spasm, so not much sleep last night. Thanks again Traii for your tennis - gets me through the nights.

Lesleyanne - sounds like you're doing great, and I totally agree that after all the crap you've gone through, you might as well go for the best you can get! Next Wednesday is my consult for surgery. I don't have much of a butt, so am hoping for the ok for a Diep (not that I have much of a tummy either). Sounds insane to others that I am "hoping for" such a huge surgery, but as you know, the implant problems suck, big time, and I want so badly to get off this train!

Dakota, truly, you are the energizer bunny!!!!!!

    Have a great day everyone.

Benny, so glad you are doing okay. Keep up the good work, and enjoy the plush toy.

Dakota, you're getting there! Soon chemo will be a thing of the past. Will you be doing rads too?

Websister, not to worry about commenting here. It is impossible to reply to everything. We are such a chatty, sociable bunch that nobody can keep up with it all. Hope you have a very good weekend!

Nihahi, hope your shoulder and back problems will be resolved soon. That back spasm is so painful, I know from experience. Take care!

Lesleyanne, you are the brave one here! Reading that long list of surgeries that you had gone through, I feel ashamed that I am so scared of the DIEP flap that I am getting in a few months' time.

Edi, that fire sounds very cozy, and your menu for tonight sounds delicious. Last night I made Jamie Oliver's salmon fish cakes from the Internet at last, and they were really good. Recipe made so many that I froze 12 fishcakes for later. Don't know what to make for tonight though. Will have a look in the freezer, may be I'll get inspiration there?

This morning I did the aquafit class, then went to church to practise organ as I'm playing on Sunday. I must google how many calories organ practice burns - lol. Tomorrow night we are going out for dinner at a friend's house, and I'm bringing dessert. Will be making a recipe that I got when I was in South Africa, a lovely cake with apple and chocolate pieces decorated with a thick caramel pour-on sauce. Decadent indeed. I promise I will have only a small piece . . .

A very good SE free weekend to you all!
