The Joys of Life
Since June of 2010 when I was diagnosed with stage 3C breast cancer I have cried maybe, 5 times.
1) When I found out.
2) When I had to tell my sons, ages 16 and 20 at the time.
3) When I had to ask my husband to help me bath during chemo.
4) When I had my mastectomy, and had an accident in the bed from the dopiness of the pain pills I was on.
5) My 50th birthday.
With that being said, I have awaken every morning thanking God to have been able to wake up.
Pushing myself though each day, no matter how difficult.
Enjoying every moment I am able to spend with my family. We actually spend more time together now than we ever have before.
I have seen my oldest son graduate from college and my youngest graduate from high school.
I have so many more things to look forward to.
We have planned a wonderful trip coming up this spring that will give us all great memories to cherish for years to come.
When I go to sleep every night, I thank God for that one extra day he has given me.
I look at each day with so much promise.
Don't let this horrible disease define you.
Live your lives, ladies!!!
Love and Blessings
Sharon

Thank you Sharon for cheering us on!! I so agree that living with a grateful heart will bring the joy we all seek...its just not always easy. Fear sometimes numbs me to the gratefulness of the moment. I sometimes place my hand over my heart and say to myself...you are alive now..live..there is a purpose to your life greater than the fear and sorrow BC brings!
Rejoicing with you for all the blessings you have had since being diagnosed...I too have been blessed and am grateful I am here to rejoice in them!

True.
Although I find it very hard to stay focused on some days. But it's like the disease has brought in more quality in my life. That part of all of this is a REAL blessing.

Sharon.......I read your post back in Jan. The title caught my eye because 'joy' wasn't something I had been experiencing lately. Before BC seems like I was just driving along my highway of life, then the diagnosis.......it felt like the brakes just slammed on and here for a while it has felt like I am in a stalled car, sitting on the railroad tracks, frozen in fear and only looking down the tracks expecting to see the BC express coming around the bend any minute. Your post was like a good samaritan who came along and gave me a nudge off the tracks and I wanted to thank you for that!
Have a wonderful time on your trip this spring!
