Just Diagnosed IDC
I just got my results today of invasive ductal carcinoma. I started reading the discussion boards since my left breast became freakishly enlarged on December 18th. Reading about your journey's have helped me so much that i decided to join today after getting my results. I have been praying nonstop since i first suspected that something might be wrong. My prayers were answered because GOD gave me so much strength that aside from a few tears, I have not broken down. Praise GOD! I don't know what stage the cancer is yet because my appointment to see a breast specialist to discuss treatment is not until February 11th. The wait is excruciating, but you guys have helped me through this because i have read in some of your posts that it is the worst part. It is 3am and it looks like I will not be sleeping any time soon. All I know is that our GOD is a GOD of miracles. I will pray that each and everyone of us in this breastcancer world will survive this. My instinct is to reach out and connect to anyone on the East Coast so we can pray, laugh and shop together. I will not let this thing destroy me. All That Jazz just came on the television! Well, good night everyone! You all are now my new best friends and we shall get extremely personal extremely fast!
GOD Bless.

The beginning is the hardest part. I am sorry you have to go through this too. Just know you will always have support here and are not alone in this. I am 2 years out from my diagnosis and life is normal again...something I never thought would happen. Have continued faith....stay as positive as you can. Feel free to come here for support, to vent or get information. Hugs!

I would like you give you a Hug, so sorry that you have been diagnosed with IDC.
I am new to all this also, I was just diagnosed with IDC on Jan.9, 2013. I am still in shock.
As the girls on this wonderfull site say, once we have a plan set, we will start to feel better.
I see you live in Brooklyn, I also lived in Brooklyn but now live in Florida. Oh how I miss Brooklyn, what great times we had growing up there.
God Bless You

Thank You guys so much! Your words truly help. I am having a hard time because my breast HURTS! A lot! I just ordered some sports bras so I can have some relief. It also looks like it got MUCH larger. I am staying positive most of the time, but sometimes out of no where I suddenly realize I have cancer and the tears start flowing. I am still in shock and I don't think I will ever wrap my mind around this.

Hi. I've also just been diagnosed, nearly 5 weeks ago. And so much has happened!! I'm only 29 years old and i actually had my lumpetomy surgery on my 29th birthday which was about 5 weeks ago. The surgeon removed the lump and 3 lymph nodes. The lump ended up being 2cm and the lymph nodes had a microsopic cancer cell found just in the first node(other 2 nodes were all clear) I've also had a bone scan & ct scan which were also all clear. Because of my age and the fact my husband & I havent had children yet, we did one round of IVF to freeze some embiros.(as i was told chemo can put you into early menopause) So we've done that round of IVF which ended up with 21 frozen embiros, so were happy about that. Now i'm just about to start chemo. Which i think (will be confirmed tomorrow) will be 4 or 5 rounds of chemo. I'm egger to start chemo, even though i desperatly don't want to loose my long thick hair. I know it will help my chances of it never returning.
I've never been so scared in my life. I keep thinking the worst things, ie: death, how long i've got left etc. It's horrible and i know i shouldnt think these things as i know breast cancer is highly curable & the success rates are very high. I wish that all cancers didnt exsist and that they find a cure fast. It's just not fair that it happens to lovely people.

Hi I was diagnosed two Weeks ago and will have surgery this week or next. I have to decide whether to have a mastectomy or a lumpectomy and radiation. How does one make a choice like this??? I find it mind boggling.
-
Tova, welcome to Breastcancer.org.
We understand that this is a difficult choice, and we're here to support you, whatever you decide. Until members post with their experiences, there's a section on the main Breastcancer.org site called Mastectomy vs. Lumpectomy that will walk you through the deciding factors and the advantages and disadvantages of each.
You might want to post on the Surgery - Before, During and After forum too, to connect with women who have already had one of these surgeries. And, when you're ready, you'll find a monthly discussion topic there too, so you can share every step with women who are also having their surgeries in January or February.
Best wishes!
