In the waiting room again

I'm quite worried. I had some back issues and my neurologist did a MRI of the area. The results are they see something abnormal thry did not know what it is and told me they wanted me to see my oncologist. The onc office called and now I have to do a bone scan and a CT scan so we can find out what is going on. I asked if it was like one spot or several.... Well there are several and they are between my vertibrae several of them. Gee I'm 4 1/2 years out from original dx looking forward to that 5 year mark. I'm really afraid and I have to wait till Jan 14th to get answers. Its frusturating to not know I hate this disease!! I hate the words abnormal!! There I blew off some steam! I sure hope there is some other kind of thing that can be between the vertibrae that can be fixed. I really don't want to hear thr words recurrence. What else can show up in a MRI in several places and not be cancer??

A host of many other things can show up on any of the tests and not be cancer.  I had a small sclerotic spot noticed on my T12 2 years ago while having an MRI for another reason, but because of my BC diagnose, they wanted me to have a bone scan and CT.  It never even showed up on any of the other tests and my onc assured me I was fine - it was not cancer.  Any little thing that may cause us concern - causes them to order tests because of our history.  I also had lower back pain fairly recently that came and went - never lasted long or caused me great discomfort, but once I mentioned it - my onc sent me down to xray - and sure enough I have spondylethesis - not cancerous just degenerative changes to my lower spine from wear and tear.  I'm wishing you the same results - whatever it may be - as long as it's not cancer.  Never thought I'd be so excited to have degenerative changes and arthritis, etc - as diagnoses!  As long as I don't hear the "C" word - I'll cope with anything.  Wishing you all the best.  The wait is always such a difficult thing to have to endure while being apprehensive about what it may be.  I'm betting you will be celebrating that big 5!

I am so very sorry to read your latest post.  I'm afraid I missed the one where you said they moved the scans up and that you were scared.  I'm so sorry I wasn't able to lend you a hand to hold.  I had knee surgery and haven't been on the boards too often since.  I am so very sorry to hear that the biggest fear any of us not yet Stage IV could ever harbor - had become a realization for you.  I had truly believed this would not be the case.  Please know that there are so many gals with spread to their bones, that are living decades and decades.  My thoughts are with you, and I know this is a particularly difficult time for you, but please know I care and am always available to you.  Stay strong and march on -

    Hugs to you,

    Linda
