    Maria, so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Sending caring thoughts your way, as you cope through this difficult time.



    Sweetie, I would be very interested to hear what a variety of docs have to say about the permanence of this fragile memory condition! I'm hoping that it can be reversed/restored. Thanks.....

    Tink, so sorry to hear about your mom.  I know it is devastating even though things have been so tough the last few months.  Be patient with yourself, it will take some time.  Thinking of you and your family.

    Maria, I am so sorry about your mom and know how hard that road can be. We are here for you....



    As for me, went for my annual female visit today. Thanks to the wonderful little white pill, I now have a script for an ultrasound.

    Linda, I am so sorry to hear those biopsy results. Good luck with your new NO.



    Ladies, I have a question regarding Tamoxifen and periods. I started taking it in August and didn't have a period until December. And boy was it heavy. Now it's January and nothing again.



    Interested in hearing your experiences.

    Mine is all over the place, I'll get it skip a few then it's back. Both ONC and Gyn say that's normal when on tamoxifen, just a subsection though ask the fr a baseline ultrasound so you will know if any changes occur

    Scorchy, my cycle continues with longer gaps between as time goes on. Currently having a period every 30-45 days.

    Mine all over too.  Within 6 months, very heavy bleeding when I did get it.  Thickening that was concerning enough that had an endometrial biopsy.  Decided on an edometrial ablation in December as lots of problems.  Waiting to see how that goes.  If pre-meno ovarian cysts can be an issue too.  So a baseline gyn US is a good idea.

    OK Ladies, I know I haven't been on here much lately, but I'm really in need of a pocket party tomorrow.  I've been off Tamoxifen since July.  After all the uterine issues and the stomach issues, my onc gave me the OK to stop.  Now I'm afraid stopping may be coming back to bite me in the butt because I went for my yearly mammogram yesterday and don't you know, I got a call-back today.  They said there are "changes" in the breast (the same one I had the radiation on) so they want to take a closer look and do an ultrasound.  The girl who called, who of course is trying to sound upbeat so I don't go into hysterics, said they are just being extra-cautious due to my history and that it's probably just scar tissue from the radiation, but they need to take a closer look.  But that's not helping my nerves right now.  It's been almost 3 years since I finished radiation, so I would think any scar tissue would have formed by now and would have been seen long before this...yet what they are seeing is new, so that is not instilling me with a lot of confidence!

    So, if you could all spare some time tomorrow around 10 to be in my pocket, I'd really appreciate it!

    Absolutely, Deb. I will be thinking positive thoughts for you.



    I started Tamoxifen on Jan. 1st and I am surprised today to see my period has returned. I haven't had one since November. I am in my mid-thirties and was told that Tamoxifen would put me into menopause. I figured this meant no periods, but apparently not. Is this normal? Also, I have found that I have had trouble sleeping since starting the meds, too. Anyone else experience this?

    Jen, my sleep has never approximated normal since being on Tam(almost a year now). It seems that I have this very upper level of sleep when I am actually sleeping...very weird, and certainly not restorative! I hate the idea of this being my sleep pattern for many years ahead. It seems the same even on melatonin, which I am recently trying. My onc prescribed neurontin to see if that would help the temp regulation side effects thru the night, (which she thought could be the sleep interrupting culprit)but I became zombie-like which is worse than just getting bad sleep. So I'm back to poor sleep and pretty regular fatigue. Oh, to awaken rested sometime! :) Let us know what your onc has to offer about this SE. Good luck!

    Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear that you are experiencing the same thing. I have thought about melatonin as well, but wanted to talk with my onc first. Is it helping for you?

    Deb, sorry for the scare, hope you are at least feeling better off the tami.  In your pocket, coffee or cocktails?

    Tami doesn't put you in meno, it just blocks some of your body tissues from being able to use estrogen.  Periods get irregular and often heavier and or lighter, but don't necessarily stop.

    Sleep ... remember it fondly ... now very shallow most of the time ... fall asleep okay but after about 90 minutes whatever other sleep I get is like a twighlight sleep ... light, often aware and dreaming/thinking, been on tami for about 13 months.

    Edited to add, I occasionally take Restoril when I am exhausted and can sometimes get 6 hrs with it.

    Jen-I haven't had a period since Sept, 2012. They said that with the surgery, chemo and now the pill I have been pushed through menopause.

    Thank you all for being in my pocket today...you were all very well-behaved!

    And thankfully, everything is OK.  They took additional views and the "area of concern" that was showing up doesn't look concerning from the different angles and closeups they took today.  They were going to do an ultrasound, but after reviewing the mammo pictures from today, they didn't feel a need to do one.  My breasts are very dense, so I do have to go back in 6 months for another mammo to see if anything changes, but for now, things are OK and I can breathe again!!

    Sweetie, I have the memory issues too.  I call that "buffering" when I have to stop in the middle of a sentence while my brain looks for the word.  I always blamed it on the chemo.

    Girlpowerde, I love that...buffering! And I have needed to "buffer" only since on Tamoxifen this past year...never had chemo, so I guess the causes are many.

    We'll just all buffer though.....;)
