Wednesday Weigh In
Comments
-
Horrible week. Major LE flare. Gainned, gained weight everyday last week. But lost 2 lbs from yesterday to today.
-
Down 1.5 pounds from my first weigh-in last week on my quest to lose 10 pounds. I'm feeling good about the start and hopefully will continue now all the extra chocolate from Christmas is done.
Current weight 151.
-
Down 1.5, back to pre holiday 132.5. My goal is 130. Plan is to get there, hold it for a while, then decide if that's enough. I will not be thin at that weight.
-
Well done Wren. How tall are you? 130 sounds pretty thin to me. I'm in ID.
-
Wow! I just read all the posts since last week. There are some great tips I need to remember. Thanks!
As for my weigh-in, I'm down 1.4 lbs since last week! Yippee! Although, it is probably more due to water loss after the steroid water retention from my last treatment. It definitely is not because I have been avoiding the peanut butter m&m's in my cupboard!
I think to go with chemo brain I also lost my willpower. -
169.4 this morning, which is up a pound from Sun a.m., but below where I was last Weds. Still below 170 so I'll take it!
Soon I will need new jeans, the ones I have are getting too big!
-
Badger, in the past I have often weighed myself many times in a week. Now I am going to try to weigh ONLY on Wednesday mornings as weight can go up and down on a daily basis and I found it very discouraging. And would think what's the point? Then eat anyway.
-
down the two that I was up after New Years (which is still 3 pounds OVER where I was before Thanksgiving).
-
Gill, I hear ya but I was having so much fun seeing a lower number every day that I stepped on the scale every morning for a while. When I saw a higher number I stopped because you're right about the fluctuations.
I'll still weigh in twice a week, though, Weds for this thread and Friday for E-LAB.

Gillyone, I'm 5'2". I'm thin at 118-120. That's what I weighed in college. But 130 is what I weighed both times I became pregnant, so it seems like a good number to shoot for. I was much heavier about 5 years ago and was dx with impaired fasting glucose. I lost weight then by asking if the treat was worth a future insulin shot. Funny how often it wasn't.
-
Gosh Wren! You still seem pretty light!
I am 5'4" and weigh 151 right now. If I ever see 140 again I will be thrilled. I lost quite a bit of weight during chemo and got down to 134 and loved that one aspect of chemo, but I really looked quite thin. I was 120 at college and must have been skinny but seemed normal. That is a long time ago, so I need to be realistic in what I can achieve.
-
Wren, asking yourself that question is a really good mental strategy.
Gill, I had to stop myself from adding Sunday, just to balance out the week.
I would love to see 150-something but can't go there yet. Focused on the 160's.
-
I was informed by the doc who removed my appendix that I had plenty of fat at 130. lol Hard to argue with someone who has seen it up close.
-
I am glad that I stopped by here...I will now go eat a carton of yogart instead of the leftover scalloped potatoes and ham that I was drolling over!
-
Didn't post, but weighed in yesterday and I am up 2.6 from the holidays!! Actually logged in to loseit.com this morning before logging here
Today, I climb back on the wagon!!
-
Hi friends. Wanted to start here again but computer problems took over so will just say yesterday I was down and hopefully next week I will post a number and keep it going down.
-
patoo!!!!
So good to see you here!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just realized that Tuesday night I weighed in, and the instructor said "Oh, my, what happened?"
So I gave her my litany of complaints, illnesses, injuries, and off-limits delicacies I've been indulging in...but I made sure I ended with the story of my incision opening up again, so that sort of cut the conversation short....
(Nyuk nyuk nyuk....)
But the bottom line is even though I know I gained, I didn't even look at the number she wrote down! I still don't know!!!! And truthfully, I don't care.
Got some GOOD news today...saw a myofascial therapist who I think is going to work WONDERS on me. I see myself getting back on track with execise again, but without it, there's no way to keep this weight off. So I am VERY hopeful!!!
Hello Ladies,
Down a pound, but a few more to go to be back at my pre-holiday weight. I really feel those Christmas cookies around my middle!
Thanks for the "clean plate club" insights and tips. I was also raised with the mentality that it was sinful or shameful to leave food that you put onto your plate uneaten. I have a painful childhood memory of taking some Oreo cookies and just eating the cream from the middles and then leaving the cookie parts on my placemat. I guess I only wanted the cream part and not the cookie part...? My father discovered the uneaten cookies and made me finish them before leaving the table. As an adult. I think he could have simply pointed out that it was wasteful to take something you don't intend to eat and NOT make me eat something I clearly didn't want. Is it any wonder I struggle with unhealthy eating patterns? On the other hand, I know I am an adult now and can make better choices for myself and blaming my parents for my being overweight as an adult would just be an excuse.
Going to try the smaller plate tip someone mentioned. Sounds like it might help with portion control. Also thought I would share something I've been trying lately. I've been only putting the salad on our dinner table and keeping the main dish plus sides on the kitchen counter. That way if I, or someone else, want seconds we have to get up from the table and go get it. As a result I find that I almost never do. Kind of like "out of sight, out of mind." Otherwise I find that it's just way too easy to pile another spoonful onto my plate.
Got to keep myself moving during these cold, gray days. I feel the urge to hibernate! Exercise helps me so much with the joint aches and stiffness but I find I have to push myself out the door these days.
Stay well my friends!
Yes! I leave the calorie laden stuff in the kitchen and fix a plate with a small portion of higher caloric stuff and a bunch of veggies or fruit, and a big glass of water. If you want seconds, you need to go get it... not just graze. I will also "fix" TV snacks... I never carry the whole bag to my easy chair.
-
Charlotte, I use my luncheon plates which are about 8 to 9 in. And I never put bowls or platters of food on the table. DH and I fix our plates and carry them to the table. It's funny to see how much food dh can pile on a small plate! And he's bad about 2nd helpings. I have given up on trying to get him to cut down and lose weight. I've finally come to the conclusion that I have to manage my diet and let him manage his. He has three stents.
Cindy, that's a great habit to fix a snack and carry it to the living room instead of taking a container or bag.
I'm normally pretty disciplined when I set my mind to something, but I have not been exercising regularly the last two weeks. We've been having a rainy season so that I can't get out and walk. But I have exercise equipment in our home "gym," which is in a building close to the house. There's no excuse.
I had lunch out today and am proud of myself for eating healthy. Half a grilled salmon sandwich and sweet potato fries. I ate only a few of the fries.
-
Hopefully will have a reliable computer and be able to report on Wednesday. Hope everyone is well - you are always on my mind.
-
Hi All,
I am early for Wednesday weigh in. Went to WW meeting today and lost 2.2lbs. I have been a member for 8 weeks
now and most weeks nothing or 04oz. So today I am thrilled.
-
Hi Everyone,
I have been off Arimidex for 3 weeks and today when I went to weight watchers - I finally lost 2.2 lbs. It took 8
weeks to happen - unually I stay the same or lose .04 oz I am thrilled!
-
Desny, Congratulations! It is so hard to stick to the plan when you're not seeing results.
-
Yay, Desny!
Maintaining the status quo here.
-
164.5 - down a lb from last week. Finally going in the right direction. I have been pretty much stalled since new years, so I'm going to South Beach it for a while to see if I can jumpstart some continued weightloss. That wedding is looming, and I will need to go dress shopping soon!
-
Down .2 lbs. Can't complain as I've not done much exercise at all. Too cold, too icy.
-
Down 1 to 131.5. I fear it was because DH was out of town yesterday and I didn't eat much. I rather expect it to be back by Fri.
-
WooHOO Desny!!!
Yay, Heidihill (at least it wasn't a gain, right?), Pat01, Cindyl, and Wren44.
Totally blew-off weight loss class last night. Just not feelin' it. (I know, that's the WORST!)
My bathroom scale and I aren't speaking... after 9 months of being the first thing I did after hopping out of bed in the morning.
I am seeing the very tiny beginnings of a poochy tummy returning, so yesterday, DH and I shopped for treadmills. Gotta start somewhere.
Oh well, I did it before; I can do it again.
