Star Tripping


Tonight
I took a voyage to the stars...

First
I shinnied up Orion's leg
...climbing from Rigel
to the top of Betelgeuse,
then I jumped over Procyon
to visit the Gemini twins:
....Pollux and Castor....
just to see how they'd been doing.
(I saw Regulus kissing Hydra)

I glided next to Auriga
but Capella was asleep;
dropped down to Taurus
and slid
all the way to the tip of Aldebaran...
(wondering where else to go?)

Andromeda was waiting for Pegasus
......to come out and play,
Cassiopeia had a date with Cephus,
and Perseus wasn't speaking to Algol--

So I flew clear past Polaris
looking down,
waving at Ursa Major and Ursa Minor
as I ventured on through space
...just bouncing along the constellations.

I got so tired I bumped into Cygnus
but Deneb was so bright I kept going...
not stopping 'til I found solace
within the safety of Pleiades;
then resting--nestled among friends.

Don't keep me awake tonight, Perseus!
You can fight with Algol again tomorrow.
And please don't send me back down to reality,
just yet--

I'm still having fun...up here...Star Tripping!
