    hi

i had chemo before surgery at sunnybrooke - the surgeon will refer you too an oncologist right away.  They like to do chemo before surgery on aggressive tumors - her2 positive, triple negative etc over a certain size.  The criteria is different with every onc but i know PMH likes to do chemo b4 surgery on any aggressive tumors over 5cm or many positive nodes.  SB where i was treated likes to start at over 2cm (which i was and her2 ) There are several reasons they like to start chemo first - to be able to assess tumor response to chemo, to start attacking any micro-mets that may be floating around and to allow the surgeon to get better margins at surgery.  PM me if you would like any further info
