Well one year ago today I had mastectomy with DIEP recon....seems like yesterday and a lifetime ago!

I met with the oncologist late last January and she said that I didn't need to follow up with her again. Now that its a year later and I have follow up with breast surgeon etc I'm wondering if I should see the oncologist? Has anyone else had one meeting and that's it

I had DCIS , BMX with clean margins, no reconstruction. I had no need to see an oncologist afterwards either. I don't know if you having reconstruction changes things or not for follow up care. You don't need any hormone therapy, so no need for the oncologist. I don't need to see a surgeon for follow up care either, but I think it is related to no reconstruction. If you aren't on anything an oncologist needs to watch you for, no need to see him is what I was told by the oncologist I saw a year ago.

Same for me -- saw him once and he said "You're done!"  Sounds good to me but I would like to have more options for monitoring.

My BMX was 2 yrs ago for DCIS. I was told I no longer need an oncologist and my BS said I don't need to see him every year unless I want to. My dilemma is my GYN wants me to have mammograms still and the BS says they're unnecessary. The GYN says since there are still lymph nodes, skin and trace breast tissue, I should have them. Anyone still having mammograms after BMX?
