I went home last night and checked my vitamins again, 2 got thrown out, soy was listed.  Even though my onc says there is not enough to matter, I think I will find some that do not contain soy.

I have also read conflicting data on vitamin D.  On this website there is a page that contains articles on research, trials, etc.  I read an article that says vitamin d can help stop reoccurence and another article that says vitamin d doesnt matter. WTH? So much conflicting data.  I am going to continue to take it since I am in dreary dark Ohio, think the sun will be out tomorrow, first time in many days.

Cheryl, have you had your Vitamin D level checked?  That might give you reassurance whether or not you need D3.  Most ppl are far below the conventional recommended level, no less a level considered optimum if you've had bc or anything as stressing on our bodies.

Also many nutrition studies yield negative results IMO because they use only a singular, synthetically produced  nutrient in a group of subjects whose diet often negates any possible small benefit from that kind of product.  You can't take someone who eats a typical American diet and give them one nutrient and expect to see results, but that's typically how those studies are conducted.     Deanna

Yes I did have it checked it was low, like 13, I think.  Does anyone know if Chia Seed is ok to use if you are er/pr+?  My BS said NO flax seed, didnt ask about chia seed.

    Chia is fine.

    I take:

    Vitamin D3 drops

Fish oil with green tea extract

    Calcium/magnesium

    81 mg Aspirin 4x/week

In my morning raw shake, I add 1 serving of Bioflavia (organic red grape skins, 11,000 ORAC) or 1 serving of Amazing Grass High ORAC.

I usually drink 3 cups of organic Do-Matcha in veggie cocktail juice with a scoop of ground Chia every day.

    Probiotics

Lots of kale and other cruciferous veggies, raw soups, lean organic meat on occasion, no soy and non GMO products. I do not eat any dairy at all.

I need to add the biotin because my nails are terrible! They are flimsy, break or peel all the time. What dosage do you ladies take?

At night I take Melatonin, usually 10 mg.

I was taking a Curcumin supplement but the pharmacist at my cancer centre called me to caution me about it, as it has been shown to be estrogenic and may have the ability to weakly stimulate cells. She said the same for rose hips so I am phasing out the Amazing Grass and looking for something else to alternate the Bioflavia with.

    Happy New Year!

From everything that I have read, curcumin is definitely worth taking.  There are many articles about it...here is one that specifically addresses the estrogen link.

pip57, Thanks for the link. I've been hearing about how good it is for us for 2 years. I decided 2 weeks ago to finally start taking it. Do you have any idea how much I should be taking daily?

I take a 150mg turmeric/bromeline capsule 2ce a day.  But, more importantly, I use a turmeric, garlic and pepper mixture on my veggies, fish and in soup every day.  It is also an anti-inflamatory and helps with aches and pains.

OH! Also was told to use aloe and coconut oil for the leftover discoloration from rads.  Does anyone know how to use these or what specifically to buy? I'd like to get them tomorrow if possible.

    Thanks

I got both my 99% Pure Aloe Vera Gel and my Organic Virgin Coconut Oil from Trader Joes...very inexpensive, and they last forever.

(I was using the coconut oil as a makeup remover, but it burned my eyes, and gave me whiteheads...Undecided )

I didn't have rads, so no advice on how to use them....

If you buy the coconut oil from the cooking aisle of a Whole Foods type of store it will cost less.  It is all the same stuff whether you use it for cooking or moisturizing.  I use Dr Bronners.  I have a smaller container that I transfer it to and just put it in the sink with hot water while I am showering.  That melts it enough to use it generously.  It is the best moisturizer I have ever used.

HVV- Great topic! Added to my favorites! Heres the list (minus pain meds):

    Vitamin D3

    IP6

    Turmeric

    Green Tea

    Coconut Oil

    Tamoxifen

These are all in pill form. If you only research the IP6 (Cell Forte Brand), it should prove very interesting. The Turmeric has its own benefits, but it also acts as a compounding agent to the green tea (X10).

Went to GNC today & got new D3, biotin & decided I'd start curcumin. Love this thread, thanks for the info. My MO also ordered ASA 81 mg but I can't take it everyday cause of bruising so I take it about 3x/wk.

I had the same problem with low dose ASA.  I no longer take it at all as every time I took it I bruised.  Not so good when having acupuncture treatments!Undecided

    I am taking:

    fish oil
    calcium w/d3
    b-complex

I also take these for cancer-related fatigue and chemo brain. They've helped for fatigue but my brain is still addled:
    di-ribose
    coenzyme Q10
    ginseng

I have pernicious anemia so I can't absorb B12 from food or supplements. I get a shot once a month.

Also drink about 3 cups of green tea every day, and try to get a lot of garlic and turmeric in my diet.

I have recently started tracking my diet on https://www.supertracker.usda.gov/. I've never been a calorie counter but this has been very revealing! You enter what you eat each day and it tells you whether you are getting enough (or too much) of each nutrient. I have discovered that most days I am not getting enough choline, vitamin E or potassium. I had no idea. It also reveals how just a little bit of cheating (or a LOT, over the holidays) can really throw off the best dietary plan.

Fredntan......I use coconut oil (organic) for everything.....cooking, baking, moisturizer and hair conditioner. I use it on toast in the morning sometimes. Love the fact it is organic

with no other ingredients inside to worry about.....lol

I love my acupuncture treatments.  I started it for cervical disc compression but have found it helpful for so many other things.  For example: stress, neuropathy, shin splints, leg cramps and even psoriasis.

hello satisfactio - we all hear so many conflicting things as what to take and not take.  its so hard, for me i just go with my gut instinct.  finding that most onc vary so much what they recommend.

    good luck

Don't forget that some of us have been hanging around here for a long time.  Life changes are a process...one thing at a time.  I gave a great deal of thought and did a lot of researching before making significant choices about how I could help my body and mind cope with the after affects of bc and its treatment.  One step at a time.

I take a supplement mix similar to all mentioned above.

I need to build bone density. I am still normal, but have dropped and don't want to take meds for it. I also have to be careful with calcium quantities as I am prone to kidney stones. Planning to meet with a natural path expert in the next month.

Is there a difference between turmeric and circumin? I read somewhere circumin is better, but when reading the labels, it seems pretty much the same. I also read that it is not well absorbed into the body unless combined with a spicy supplement like cayenne. I found a supplement that it that at the health food store, but it is pricey.

SpecialK....maybe they make gummy hot pepper vitamins! Lol. Ow many of your supplements are gummy?

Just starting taking a chewable multi vitamin....big thick wafer tablets......tastes like apple flavored grass....not terrible, and lots of good stuff in it.

Hi Fluffqueen.....curcumin is the most active ingredient in turmeric.....from all my research....turmeric has to be taken with pepper for good absorption. I use turmeric a lot in cooking now and add black pepper and/or cayenne pepper with it.

Hello all! This thread has been extremely helpful.  I'm looking to add Q10 and B Complex.  Does it matter if I'm Her2+?  I'm new to this and wasn't sure if that had an effect on what I took.

    Thank you!

Great thread!  I have a question about flaxseed. I took it for months until I came across a warning about its estrogenic properties.  I was horror-striken and stopped it right away, but now I am reading that those properties are insignificant compared to the anti-cancer benefits.  I am very confused and would welcome any opinion you might have on this.
