Anyone from LA considering Nola in 2013? Or had surgery in Nola? Not sure what my next step is!!

    Thanks :)

Marcie - I haven't, but if you want info about it, PM bdavis. Betsy has had a GAP flap and then a DIEP flap with NOLA so she knows a lot and can probably help you out a bunch.

Also, if a smaller group wants to hike, I think that's a grand idea, we don't have to only meet and eat. :) Much as I like to eat. I'd be up for a fairly low intensity walk/hike, but my weekends are somewhat busy with my son's soccer schedule.

Cookie - I'm up for a dog walk in the hills. Maybe there is somewhere between us? Maybe Ren wants to join as she lives close too.

Cookie and DM, I know just the place for a hike. I'm free next weekend (Jan 12/13) and the weekend after that. Maybe we can get a hike in before DM's upcoming surgery.

I'm having a revision on Jan. 10, but should be able to do a not too difficult hike on the 13th if that works. Marcie - can you join us too? We'd love to have you along as you initiated the hike talk. :)

Good luck in NOLA! Are you going for a consult, essentially? Hope they can help you out. From what I've heard they can do what others say is impossible.  Darn the stupid things this disease does to us and puts us through!

Just a consult at this point however I met a women who went to Nola and she showed me the results!! Wow it was amazing, I can't believe the talent of those dr's!!!

I am not sure until I get there if/how much my insurance covers. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Do they have equally amazing results with implants in NOLA?  I know the King of All Nipples has a part-time shop there.

My BS specializes in the flap (?) type surgeries and the NP at the center where I'm going says he does amazing work (she says she's seen all kinds of breast jobs from Santa Monica to downtown).  I'm having implants versus flappy things.  I used to have floppy things. Frown

Hopefully, I'll end up with perky numb things.

    Here's to our future perkiness!

ETA:  I had my first chemo today and I suppose I'm just a bit steroid'd up right now.

DM-Nola is New Orleans :) restorative breast center is located there and has a wonderful reputation.

Lee-I am going for a consult so I will see what they say, I wrote them and asked about a dorsi flap and they said that is not the 1st option they generally recommend to women. I will let you know when I get back :)

Ladies I can't make it on the 13th after all (drats~!), but can hike the weekend of the 20th. I understand if that doesn't work and will catch y'all next time.

I am very excited, I got into the Pink Pilates program at the Cancer Support Community, which begins Jan 16. (Been on a wait list since last fall.) Been wanting to go to WeSpark, has anyone been and what have you done there?

Hi rennasus- what is the pink pilates program?

Cookie monster told me about we spark and I am new to it but they offer alot of great things. I did a energy healing (which I never had before) and it helped me very much.

There is a breast cancer support group at 6:30 on Jan 16th there. I know it is same day as your pilates but not sure if same time. Call ahead of time if you would like to go, they need to meet with new people before they can participate.

Rennasus - I've been going to WeSpark for over a year. They do what they call an intake before you can participate in their groups or other activities. They have groups for people in active treatment and for post treatment - unfortunately, I can't make many of the groups because they're during working hours. The breast cancer networking and support group has been really valuable to me though - to connect with others going through breast cancer treatment.

Thanks ladies for the info on weSpark... I was given their number twice and need to get my butt in there! My pilates class is over at 4 so I could make the support group at weSpark on the 16th. I'll call them this week to schedule an intake. The pink pilates class is offered through the Cancer Support Community in Westlake. You have to get on a wait list as they olny take 6 women per 6-week session. Will let you know how it is!

I can never make it to the WeSpark groups, but have used the hypnosis they offer, has been very helpful!

Would love to get into an exercise program they deals with my needs and abilities... so awesome for you Ren!

Another gathering sounds good. We have soccer tournaments almost every other weekend, so I don't know my availability. I can maybe to a Saturday evening for dinner if the games end early enough.

I have not been to another get together.  I've been really busy at work.  Took a vacation last week with hubby.

    I'll be down at LAX on 2/27 - 3/1.

Anyone up for dinner in LA on Friday, 3/1?  I'm done with my convention by I think 1 or 2 pm.
